Well got a forbidden key, an invisible chest proceeded to drop off a Poroggo Seductor, used the key on the chest, it opened and I got... Nothing? That was pretty exciting, is that common?

Entered abyssea with 90 minutes and 2 stones on top of that. Not sure how much time I have left. I think 50+ minutes. Got several K XP and.... ~800 cruor.
WHM/BLM
PLD/NIN
BLU/NIN
WAR/NIN
SAM/NIN
BRD/WHM
COR/RDM
Our goal was killing NMs and trigs.
Marvin didn't really kick our ass, but we tele'd out since it would have taken forever if we did win. The 4k+ wild carrots are annoying as heck.
Piasa was easy. No drop unfortunately.
After that we farmed mandys in the canyon for the Alkaline Humus pop item.
We got 4 of those, two people timed out (we had a RDM helping at this point) before we finished.
We moved onto the couerls and killed one when the titan avatar NM strolled across.
We fought it, but the others timed out leaving me alone with it at 4%. It got a crit when I was about to use bene so I died before I could finish it off.
Went back to La Theine to unlock a couple more confluxes at that point.
I would really recommend a stunner on Marvin. A RDM/DRK or BLM is great on it.
Got requiem 7 off gold chest last night, droped from bugards in Dem.
Also anyone have any Notes on the Key item NMs from Dem, Since we fairly close to poping 2 of them.
Any info is great
Random question that probably has an answer somewhere in this thread, but are parts of Abyssea soloable? obviously the NMs arent, but are you able to get a good amount of whatever it is you get in abyssea solo?
It depends on a few things. Primarily your job, and how many people have been killing that mob family recently. If it's prime time you're SoL it's all going to be T+ and terrible exp. Also don't bother before 80.
If you can get on when there's DC mobs and EM, you might be able to make decent exp but watch for links/NM pops, for the most part a small group is a way better use of your visitant time.
They're listed as temporary key items, but no one has reported having lost them so far. I think they are probably permanent. That's why the progress NPC keeps track of how many ancient abyssites you've found in each area. It's just one aspect of abyssea where you start out weak and grow more and more as you get more into it. A whole party with all the ancient abyssites will get much more time and more points than a new party without them.
It was pretty easy, though if you're a small group I highly recommend full MP before popping. Also, sheep seem to spawn at the end of the box canyon where the ??? is, and respawn is the super-short Abyssea respawn, so be aware that you'll get adds. We only had one, but with the extra rdm around, keeping it slept wasn't too much of a problem.
I think maybe by the time we killed Dorian we were only WHM RDM RDM MNK SAM (with RDM+SAM 2boxed) because one of the SAMs didn't have as many stones, but I'd have to check my SSs to be sure. He may have been kicked just afterward.
We were being totally unscientific and just killing random things for cruor, so we don't have many "findings," but I know that by the time we popped Pantagruel we only had WHM, RDM, SAM, MNK, and I wouldn't recommend that. Curing and debuffing pulled hate pretty quickly and we all had fun running back to the starting camp with him (and a couple of adds) on our tails. He deaggro'd when the living got into the canyon and wandered back toward his spawn point. I don't know if he despawned when he got back because I didn't follow him.
Also, try not to be dead when these NMs die. Missing out on 1.2k+ xp is sad for the whole family.
Yeah, I know. I just said "try not to be dead." Best. Advice. Ever. Such a blonde mithra.
Abyssea is for the most part soloable, on most solo-friendly jobs. Even though monsters /check Tough, they don't appear to be that difficulty and seem to have less HP. PUPs should be fine just meleeing with a WHM frame, SMN will be able to BP to death then rest (slow) and WHM/NIN would be fine but slow as well. The biggest worry isn't killing mobs in Abyssea, it's doing it at a quick enough pace to get decent cruor for your time. Targeting glowing 'Ephermal' monsters is a good way to explore/get exp/do quests at the same time, but they can be tough (water ones use Rime Spray which is ~400 and high DoT with all stats down, can kill you if you're unprepared!)
Anyone have a good strategy for Gancanagh? We got enough pop items for our run saturday so we tried to just burn one down sam x3 blu rdm whm. Didn't read ahead of time for a strat, we just figured 3 sekka sc and 3 2hrs would about kill it, ended up 1/2 wiping and timing out around 20%, but burning all our 2hrs isn't a good strat anyway.
Just wanted to say, the temp items you obtain occasionally from kills, potions etc, stay with you if you didnt use them.
Got a healing salve a few days ago in abyssea, checked last night on the run and still had it. So prolly a good idea to save these items for a rainy day instead of using them whenever you can.
We killed brd whm rdm sam pld thf.
SAM dced during 2nd run and I got killed at 4% hp and RDM finished with nuke.
There were some deaths mainly thf died from max hp down and triple counter (lol :D) (good idea to DD face off after max HP down and wait till erase and cure )
Basicly fight is pretty easy till like last 20% when max hp down start to be dengerous. We was low on dmg tho so probably best idea is to zerg last 20%.
I was 75lv PLD tho so 80 would be much easier.
