No THF in our group at all.
No THF in our group at all.
Our group did have two thieves. One of them had TH4 but I highly doubt that was the reasoning.
No THF's for us either.
Hmm, now I'm curious if THFs can use tools to get extra guesses on the chests. Then again, not sure how they work relative to the FoV ones.
I had suggested this earlier, but seems I was misunderstood or overlooked, as it was shortly after the initial report of the time chests and 6 hour(i think it was?) session. Next time I go into abyssea, I will be trying to form one of these 90 minute alliances and possibly go as THF myself to try it out, unless someone beats me to it, as I will not have 3 stones available until Monday evening.
I highly doubt you could use tools on the chests in Abyssea. I'm not sure how it works with FoV chests but the game for the Blue chests give you a goal of correct guesses to reach, in the case of most of our chests the max of 6 correct guesses.
The chest gives you a number and you have to guess if the next number generated will be higher or lower. i.e. the chest gives you 6 and you would guess up, if the answer is 25 you win that round if it's 5 you lose.
Once you lose the game 3 times the chest despawns.
Hmm, high/low isn't too bad of a mini-game. Any idea on the number range?
1-99
And theres 3 different chest types, that one, and
a "Pressure" chest in which you need to lower the chests pressure to a certain range, and the normal "Guess the number" with a twist, you get a set number of guesses and with each guess it gives you another hint. so you get to guess and hint.
In FoV when using using a thief's tools on the chest it tells you a number that the correct answer is higher or lower than with no influence on remaining attempts. Not really much help, but its possible SE put something similar into the abyssea chests. Possibly as good as giving you an extra guess. Although doubtful, I believe it's worth looking into.
It's simple really.
It gives you a number. Say '12'. Pick High or Low between 1 - 99.
It will randomly generate a number. If you picked higher, and it pops a 49, then you guessed successfully.
That's 1 right 0 wrong.
Then you pick higher or lower again for the 49. If you pick higher, and it pops a 5, then you guessed unsuccessfully.
That's 1 right 1 wrong.
When you get 3 wrong, the chest despawns. The harder chests require 6 guesses of corrects.
Edit: This is why I think if people have a forgotten key and you've failed 2x on a time chest, you could just use the key. You're better off buying the keys or farming them to use on time chests.
The high/low game for blue chests is really easy... except when it isn't.
It really likes to mess with you and you end up with something like the chest gives you 91, your instincts say "well its more likely that the number is lower" and the number ends up being 95, then "oh well THIS TIME it HAS to be lower" and the next number is 96.
Or it jumps around the 45-55 range where you've got more or less a 50/50 chance of getting it.
Someone already mentioned the Red chest game which is by FAR the easiest, I could get most of those down to a single try.
The third game is the Gold chests which I think is the same as the standard chest game, I haven't opened up any chests in the field for awhile. You're given a number range with the lower value chests having you guess a number between 11-33 and the highest chests 11-99. You have 5 guesses and each guess gives you a hint.
Just completed a 2nd 120min run, not one time extension chest.
I even went and wasted 6k on the time extension key item (SIGH SIGH SIGH) during the last 30min, nada.
Had TH3 both runs.
In another note, I just got a 7th stone from Joachim. I'm not sure if it's a 7 limit, one week ago last time I did abyssea might be right.
edit: Idk, not to shit talk the people in my group, but we had a lot of not very properly geared people, or people in whatever jobs they wanted, I wasn't super strict about it since it was just a pickup and I just wanted to try it out, doubt it has anything to do with our shitty chest luck, but might have killed slower than a properly created alliance?
I always seem to have more trouble with those. The amount that it moves just seems so damned inconsistent. High and low is just simple probability.Someone already mentioned the Red chest game which is by FAR the easiest, I could get most of those down to a single try.
I highly doubt that the extensions, or chests overall really, are effected at all by any level of TH.
The rate of spawns is somehow connected to time in zone/number of kills for a certain mobs/??? and what is in the chests seems to be more or less random aside from the trend I think I saw with the times tending to spawn within that window of time.
Should probably count the number of kills from start, and note at what numbers the rewards upgrade from say, tiny to minor to major to impressive, etc. If people get inconsistant numbers while killing only one mob type, it might be another variable besides number of monsters killed, like perhaps the stronger you glow with a color, the higher chances for certain chests to drop, or perhaps the better the rewards inside if that member kills the monster.
My group did notice we got exp bonuses when we had ebon and gold colors, and crour bonus when we had azure.
A slight note for anyone on Lakshmi looking through here and hyped up over how well that group did.
I don't run any sort of group atm for Abyssea, I get more fun out of it myself just shouting and throwing together a pickup when I find out I have 3 stones and the free time.
So theres no need for now to ask me if I have any spots open etc.
Would someone like to recommend a parser I could use to save the battle logs from my Abyssea runs? I've never really used any and I haven't kept up with which ones are good or still functioning.
