i got a forbidden key the other day and tried to use it to open mimics... failed 3x.
decided to see if it would work on a mob-spawn blue chest... it worked (gave 750 exp), kinda wasted the key though :/

What exactly is the text for time extensions when you chose to look inside the cracks of a chest btw?
anyone tested if other 2 zones can work like this as well? XD
or are mandies simply too great
I did a pickup a few days back on worms in la Thiene. Got about 7kish in maybe 35 mins of killing straight through ( broke the 'chain' to kill the worm NM and empherals)
Disconnected due to a BSOD on my PC last night, and reconnected. Immediately upon reconnecting, I recieved a message that my STR Down, DEX Down, etc. effects had worn off. We were fighting the pink birds in La Theine, and I don't recall them using any such effects, nor had I ever had anything on my status bar indicating these effects. There was a message for every stat. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this? I didn't think to screencap it.
I'm curious if it's related to the colored glows and might be a hidden effect.
Our group had been in Abyssea for about 40 minutes, and had killed several gigas and the gigas NM (the western-most group of gigases) before moving over to the birds. We killed the bird NM at one point, but I think that was AFTER I reconnected.
could have been an Ephemeral Clionid they were fighting while u were d/cing.
Rime Spray inflicts all stats down and frost.
@Spira
Hmm ... That's not impossible. You're probably right, but I'm going to force a d/c on my next run and see if it happens again.
Since I haven't seen this posted by anyone else:
NMs rage after 60 mins. Found that out the hard way with the worm in Tahrongi.
Can anyone explain to me how "Atma" works? Do you need a key item to start receiving it? Can it drop off every nm?
As far as I know, you need a lunar abyssite in order to use Atma. The lunar abyssite is the quest reward for killing Briareus/Kulkulan/Glavoid(I'm guessing that is the Tahrongi boss).
No clue about the first question, and I wager a solid group of ~8 could do most of the NMs I've fought, but, most of the times I've gone to Abyssea it's been with a huge force of people. Your mileage may vary.
Atma are rewarded to those who exploit the weakness of NMs.
All NMs inside abyssea have a weakness be it magic atk, enfeebles, ws, elemental ws, etc...
From patch note:
Such monsters are known to have weaknesses which, when exploited, will allow adventurers to impair their foe's movement and abilities. Striking at a foe's weakness may also cause the creature to yield additional treasures in defeat, but the probability will decrease if the same strategy is applied repeatedly. << The last part I assume if you spam the weakness too many times during the fight the Atma wont drop.
Adventurers who possess one of the many varieties of "atma" key items and have fulfilled certain conditions may speak to one of these alchemical adepts to unlock its powers. Atma may be acquired by exploiting the weaknesses of the notorious monsters that inhabit Abyssea. T he powers granted by infused atma will only be effective while you are in Abyssea.
I would also like to add that skill up rates in Abyssea appear to be GREATLY enhanced. I was getting plenty of .4s and .5s on all of my runs at a very fast rate.
For the forbidden key problem, did you try laying claim (examining the chest) before trading the key to it?
