Has there been anything posted on any of the other POL sites (like the JP) about what the maintenance was actually for? I'd expect SE to say at least a blurb on what they did otherwise if shit did get nerfed this smells like the resistance fuck up all over again.

It isn't weird, if you start on a group of mobs that nobody has touched with an alliance, they will initially be decent challenge and give you fuckall for exp/cruor, then you just keep killing repops and eventually they get to where they were prior to maintenance.

Doubt it.

Update probably had nothing to do with in-game activities and this is indeed just people freaking out over nothin' more than a mishap.

Can pretty much confirm that it was just the mobs being reset to DC-T that caused the low/non-existant exp and cruor rates. Once things became IT again, it was 130-200xp and 20-40 cruor per mob with an alliance of 18.

I can confirm that Ebon/Silver/Gold light all come from red boxes. Silver ups your Curor slightly on the next mob and Gold ups your XP. Ebon I have no clue. With silver (after testing about 15 times last run) we wuld be at like 22 Curor and the next mob would give like 26. For gold we would be at 100 and the next mob would be predicted to give 101 but would give 105 then the mob after that would give 102 or 103 like a normal chain. All the lights come from red chests with silver/gold being harder ones.

I haven't been too glued to this thread but someone in my last group keeps telling me that people have been doing runs with little/no chests at all. I'm not talking about little to no time chests, but simply chests in general.

In the entire run we've had no more than maybe 10 chests pop.

Totally f**ked over the run since we were missing out on exp/cruor boosts aside from the obvious lack of extensions. Half of the group couldn't stop complaining about the exp/hour and the guy who seemed to swear chests were supposed to be this rare wouldn't stop bitching about how I was ruining the run by not having a stack of forbidden keys for every chest that popped.

Talked to a JP and here's information I received:

- He's been there for 240min (Started with 90min and received extensions)
- He's been killing Coreul (W/e the cat mobs are called)
- At the time of my initial tell, he said 330XP/kill

I know that you can have a shitload of chests up at once, I'm more curious to what this guy said about people having runs with almost no chests as being "normal".

I'm wary of listing to any of the crap that came out of his mouth in any event but it would be nice to know. I tried to explain to him how I had done runs with 3-4 chests up at the same time with multiple chest openers and he pretty much called me a liar because by his logic the chests would start despawning unless you used forbidden keys, he was really hammering the damn key thing in on every failed chest no matter what was inside.

Did a burn on Lizards in Kon today. Got 1 TE box. I wasn't paying attention to lights cause we were killing so fast but supposedly the light we had currently when it dropped was Azure, as was pointed out by a THF. Started off slow because everything was "fresh" after the update so the first round of pops gave no exp or cruor, and the first couple rounds of repops took longer than normal. But in 100 mins of fighting, got 50k exp and 9k cruor. Got several 1250 exp chests and more than a few 800 cruor chests.

Azure Light definitely seems to be the key here. The last 5 mobs aside from the one right before we opened the chest were all Azure lights.

Lol that guy was me, and yes there have been reports in this very thread of people doing 90 minute runs while getting very little in the way of chests. No, I'm not going to link them, that's what the search function is for, or wait for one of the unlucky souls to post confirming, but they're pretty easy to find.

We started out slow, there was a delay because someone thought it'd be a great idea to pop a Mimic. Then after that for the first 30-40 minutes people were too busy freaking out that the EXP was low, and not concentrating on fighting, which as a result was going pretty damn slow. Finally, it picked up, but not until around 30 minutes left, around the last 10 minutes or so if you noticed there were chests about every other kill. Granted it still wasn't very good, but as I mentioned, some people have had runs like this and it wasn't directly after a server reset. That's because there's this thing called luck involved.

Also, regarding the chests I was simply indicating that buying a stack of keys might be worth it, seeing as you failed about half of the high/low chests that spawned. As far as I am aware, you can save the key and decide to use it if it looks like you're not having any luck. I suggested it three times over the course of an hour, with no response, so I simply figured you hadn't noticed.

If you're going to completely ignore something someone says, and then when you finally do respond, break out into some angry cuss-storm like a salty sailor taking personal offense, expect a sarcastic reaction.

I'm one of those unlucky souls.

Several 1hr:30min runs later i've yet to see a single time extension.

I'm probably getting too many idiots , but im usually the one opening the boxes and i have no problem opening them, peeking inside to not waste time on Temp items.

There is a element to luck in those "super runs" like everything else in this game...

I decided to form a group to test out a few of these theories. I'll post my results and let you guys come to your own conclusions.

I built an alliance with 7 BLM and about 5 Melee (rest were tanks/support). We fought Mandys and for the entire duration of our run, we allowed only BLMs to get the kill shots with nukes. Our Light was without a doubt "Azure Light" the ENTIRE time and we got a total of 10 time extensions in 2.5 hours. Every chest was blue with the exception of 2-3 red ones.

Some general observations:
- Exp was the slowest to rise compared to the other 5 runs I did. We hit 300 exp per fight after about 2 hours.
- Melee only got in about 10 kill shots the entire run. On those and ONLY those fights, the Light changed to "Pearlescent" (sp?). On these, exp seemed to jump up slightly more than usual, but I can't be certain.
- The chests we got (always blue) were pretty rare. We got 1 chest about every 10-15 kills. This was not at all like the other runs where you can't get to chests fast enough.
- The chests were always one of the following, from very early on: 1250 exp, 1000 cruor, Soothing Light, Temp Items, or Time Extension.
- We got 2-3 random red chests that were gold light and something else I can't recall (no idea what we did different to cause this).
- Azure Light was quick to build to "feeble" but then remained "feeble" for the whole run, despite getting the "Azure Light" message after most of the kills.
- Some of the members speculated that MB kill shot raised the chance of chest dropping. Again, chests were relatively rare for us, but when they did drop, they were 90% always a HQ blue chest.
