Inb4 you can do synergy but if you try to go through the maw you end up with a top tier abyssite

well, that and your light... I mean, something has to keep track of it, somewhere... which appears to be based off...

Anyone with half a brain would make a pretty damn simple conclusion without any voodoo or coin breathing or direction facing or moon phase or kill shots or light or anything for the matter.

I'm pretty sure you can do 'endless' ally exps on any mob.. its just that the squishy ones are easier.
I did one on Geier (pink birds). We started with 1hr timer and went on for 2h15min before people had to go to sleep, but when we left we had another hour on the clock remaining.
EXP hit 450, but it was reset because we killed Piasa early on. Ephemeral Limule that were aggroed would be sacced away from the alliance.

    ....

anyway some more theorycrafting, because I thought it sounded good lol..

I place a lot of focus on title dropping NMs >_< but theres a set across the 3 zones that seem to be similar...

Ovni is most likely a UFO.
Turul is most likely the Amphiptere near the Funguars in Konschtat
and the Tahrongi equivalent might be Myrmecoleon, the antlion.

My point about all of them is that the NMs in these family are typically not targetable in the open until they are aggroed from the sky or under the ground... and so far we've been able to find Turul (i think) and the Amphiptere wont come down at all.

Here's where another set of NMs come in..

    Akash
    Pavan
    Bhumi

These are the names of 3 classical Hindu elements. They're also NMs that seem to drop nothing and are particularly weak. Somethings fishy about them...

    Their elements are:

    Akash: Aether/Space
    Pavan: Air/Wind
    Bhumi: Earth

coincidentally, these elements tie in with where the title dropping NMs 'spawn from'

Ovni is a UFO that comes from 'space'
Turul a flying dragon in the air. (in myth its a giant bird or something)
Myrmecoleon an antlion that holes up in the earth.

so what I'm trying to suggest..
    or TL;DR version..

Is that the avatar NM corresponds/correlates to another NM that is related to the avatars NM. In order to pop the 2nd NM, we might need to use the avatar to draw it out, similar to Guimauve.

The current problem is.. no sighting of Ovni yet, Turul is found but not Pavan and Myrmecoleon might be hard given its buried underground but we could extrapolate the location if we know Titans entire roam path.

Makes sense, if Ovni is space it might make sense then that it's untargetable at the moment because it's an invisible NM, like Managwhatever

I'll look up some info on these hindu gods, see if we might be able to figure out what we do with them to aggro the mobs.

Um, is there anyone who happens to have more... "questionable" programs for detecting the locations of monsters, might be able to see ovni or mermy on the radar if they're there but hidden

I'm sure ApRadar would see them. Personally, I don't care enough to run around the zone looking for said NMs quite yet.

No, it's most like he's saying chances are you'll get good responses in a thread if it's posted on BG but not always because once in a while urat comes and fucks up everything with his nonsense.

I'm sure there's some program that will let you see them. I've heard of people using something to see which VNM T2 they are tracking for magian weapons. I dunno if it was ApRadar or the other one I saw on windower site, forget what it was called off hand.

I was the chest popper from darte's party (previous page) last night we were there around 3 hours +. I noticed when the light would change to pearlescent light more health crates dropped. I'm fairly certain only health crates droped when we had pearlescent light but maybe was coincidence.

this is not to say that we didn't get health crates under azure light. but I didn't see cruor or items or exp or time under pearlescent light, only hp crates.

Indeed. We did the lizards at the beginning of Konschtat with no problems. Just obviously need a WHM|SCH for the occasional Stona to keep things flowing, although one person being petrified for a minute won't really make or break a run.

Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but something my group discovered yesterday during an exp session is that CFHd mobs doesn't kill your chain.

Had a replacement catching aggro on the way to camp, we CFHd the mob (a clionid) and killed it and then returned to killing our normal mobs (mandies) without chain being resetted. We testd it later with the titan-thingie and worked for that aswell.

Also subscribing to the Azure theory.

More specifically, I think blue chests like Temp Items or HP Restores are accessible to all light types, meaning they'll be "common" even if you're not focusing on Azure. Would make sense if you think SE put them in there to ease your progress in a time-crunched environment.

As for people swapping out or coming in late, yeah, their EXP does reset and they can gradually climb back up, but we noticed that when we brought new people in or even those that returned, the frequency of chest drops decreased despite changing nothing in our battle plan (Azure light kills). We had a lot of swaps through the night, and even though the session was long, we did have people who timed out due to multiple chest droughts.

As is, I've also seen others mention various tiers of chests. To this, I'll also agree, and additionally with the TEs being in the highest tier. It might be possible other light types can get access to this (with the chest still being blue for lazy code reasons), but we haven't bothered to risk it yet. Simply put, the successes of those focusing on magic kills seem to get far longer runs than those who've said their BLMs were focusing on Sleeping or even pulling and the typical TP Burn types that thrived in ToAU. Had to 6+ hour runs going Azure. Shellmate has had 5 (1 with me included) doing the same. "4 or 5" people here have testified similar. I've seen others on lolAlla too.

To me, the tricky point now is deciding when to jump from Azure to Ruby lights so you can start working up the caps, and possibly if you go back to Azure to regain some time stones. Also curious if anyone else has observed a drop in chest frequency when welcoming new/returning people into their alliance (disconnects or party swaps don't count).

After four runs, I haven't noticed any drops in chest when adding new people or people returning. One other suggestion I did forget to mention was having at least two dedicated chest openers full time in an party that has no bard. It gets really annoying getting interrupted while trying to work on a chest, especially the 6 guess ones.

Until you can remove all other parts of the equation on influences on chest drop rates you have no reasonable reason to suggest Azure light influences it, why do you people not realize this.

    Have you people not considered:

A: You or other groups may be targeting monsters that were fought previously therefor are higher leveled than a starting set, so you might have had a jump start on chest tiers resulting in getting TE chests sooner allowing you to build up to capped tier sooner, creating the illusion you were doign something to increase chest drops rates.

B: Your black mage group focusing on magic kills might actually be "increasing blue chest drop prate" simply because you were just straight up killing faster, resulting in faster tiers and better chests. From the sounds of your kill speed in fact the groups that are getting better chest results are also killing remarkably faster than my much not as large, support/healer leaning alliance was, resulting in faster kills and faster tiers and more boxes from more mobs and thus more TEs.

C: Shits random yo, you're simply wanting to believe that magic increases chest drop rates, so you see "oh we took a balanced alliance and lasted 5 hours" and you think "oh, another group that wasn't as balanced didn't do as well, therefore mages = more time and since more time = more blue chests mages = blue chests" but here's the thing, more balanced group could also = faster kills, faster kills = more chests, more chests = more blue chests, and more blue chests = higher chance of obtaining TE chests.

To be honest, I am more leaning towards your lights being an influence on stats, granting hidden bonuses, or maybe not even hidden, to stats/attacks.

Has anyone looked at their stats as lights shift and noticed any changes? I'll be looking tomorrow to see if anything happens.

Finally, Im just going to go ahead and reference SE themselves.

Vivication is the process in which killing monsters in abyssea makes you stronger.

Its pretty obvious this is the lights. Since azure light comes from magic kills, its pretty logical to start looking in the direction SE started us off in before trying make 99% foundless assumptions like it effecting treasure chest drop rates.

Lets start with some much more obvious possibilites. Has anyone tried testing if azure light increases magic potency/attack/accuracy yet?

    No?

Oh really so we haven't ruled the most obvious and practical possibility of what the lights do, now have we? Well thats funny you'd think before making one of the most illogical assumptions on something, using loosely drawn conclusions from a tiny sample size as the only foundation, maybe starting at the top with the most obvious and practical possibility that actually fucking makes sense would be a far more logical course of action.

Azure lights come from killing shit with magic. The more you kill shit with magic the stronger your character becomes with magic makes a lot more fucking sense to me than killing shit with magic increases the chance of a blue chest dropping from it to me, especially when already we know killing shit with magic increases your chances of obtaining a magic based temp item.

This is fucking worse than direction synthing being taken at face value, this is not fucking allakhazam people this is fucking bluegartr, remember the forum that laughs at AV theories, finds direction synthing foundless and a joke, why the hell suddenly is 4-5 samples, only like 2 of which were even parsed and the rest hearsay, being suddenly taken completely for face value and being immediately assumed the ultimate answer to something that hasn't had alternative testing yet?

im going with azure lights too.. but only because its the only thing explaining how my alliance has consistently been able to get TEs.

to be specific, my pt leader mentioned for us not to do azure kills until much later on.. we started doing azure kills around when exp started hitting 200. and to my surprise, the first blue chest was a TE. Its as if he had it down to a science.

200 is still pretty high tho. i saw a TE at 175ish yesterday in another party. it might be that TEs only pop above a certain chain tier. and there something about chests leveling up too.

the lights definitely make a difference. there was less of a concerted effort to change lights yesterday and i got a whole lot more temp items chests. i think it was a big mixture of ebon and pearl.

today i see a lot more azure and golden.. i see more frequent TEs and we've hit max exp chest at 1250 i believe..

how fast/strong your pt is doesnt seem to affect the above but instead your EXP/mob cap. Yesterday my PT (which was a lot stronger) was hitting 450s before we got tired and disbanded.. my current alliance which is slightly weaker has been plateauing at 410-420 for the last 30minutes

edit: started to pick up again.. but that might be due to the temp items and me starting to freenuke

still don't know how that all comes together tho

Anyways, testing vivification's effects on your power is a good idea to test, but I seriously doubt it, as people haven't mentioned their nukes becoming stronger after a while, which is pretty obvious when it happens, unlike with melee.

And seriously, balanced parties killing faster than tp burn? What madness is this you speak of? Test all your other theories you want, but don't get your shit up in a bunch because the one we're working on is starting to look promising. If people never pursued theories that seem to have promising data on them, shit would never get solved.

If you want people to test other theories as well, that's fine. But there's a catch if you want them to be tested.

    ASK.

    NICELY.

I'll vouch this statement. My LS did frogs in La Theine which are way down in the corner where nobody would think to go for one of these EXP PT's anyway. The first time we went with 2-3 stones and most timed out in 80 minutes because we got a grand total of 2 time extensions. Chest drops were rare until about the 60 minute mark at which point EXP broke the "better than meripo" barrier as well. Regardless, we timed out before shit got worthwhile.

Came back days later (this is still pre-server reset) and started the frog genocide and chests were just dropping 90% of the time I'd say. The EXP still started at rock bottom but the chest rate was amazing and I'm thinking it's because maybe we primed the camp several days before.

Also the Azure Light leading to time chests is bullshit. Get over it. I know groups going in with 2 SOLID TP burn setups and 1 misc. party for sleeping and box opening. These groups were getting over 2-3 hours worth of Time Extensions. Shit has nothing to do with Blue Boxes.

    My theory:

    1. Get it primed so the mobs are out of the DC-T stage (Probably only need 60 minutes to do this)
    2. Fuck shit up with PT setups that don't suck. Have 2 melee PT's fight different mobs. You should get through about 3-4 mobs PER MINUTE if the pulling is good and the DD's are worthwhile.
    3. Watch chests pile up. The key is to just get a lot of chests in general and that sheer number of chest appearances alone will ensure that you perpetuate your time in Abyssea.

    tl;dr - kill faster faggots
