Actually, that would make it very useful if someone with a lot of times and devotion to process got ahold of it. Establish a baseline without Treasure Hunter (like, say, doing a relic weapon trial), then throw on TH+1 to compare. Good luck getting such an item attached to someone who is willing to kill several thousand mobs, though.

I still see no data, so I'm just gonna go with either uze beh trollin or uz beh retarded.

Come back with actual data and evidence and then I'll take you seriously.

Until then I'm going to go right ahead and test the shit that actually makes sense.

And no, a sample size of <100, hell for this instance <50, is not a sample size. You're still in the coincidence zone. Come back when you've done 50 non azure light parties with chest and light parses, followed by 50 azure light focusing parses, and show us the correlation between lights and chests.

    Occam's razor etc etc

Pretty much. We've found something we believe to work, and given the limited nature of Abyssea access, risking this time to fuck around isn't very tempting when you see people talking about 50k/hr or more.

Anyway, we also know red chests can give azure light. Slim chance from TEs with this? Of course. Nearly as consistent as azure farming? Well, you (Urat) prove it is. Meanwhile, we'll enjoy ourselves capping off our jobs and merits in a far less stressful environment than ToAU parties ever were.

Some might need to accept that you can't parse this like accuracy or damage, either. There's still gonna be a random element no matter what you do unless some combination of key items can turn around and guarantee a chest every kill.

Either way, once people finish their EXPing with their shells, I expect targeting specific NMs and quests to polish off key items will be the next big thing. From there, we'll probably move on to focused (V)NM farming since there won't be much of any other reason to be there when you're all capped.

I most certainly will post all my findings and testings with my linkshell that I do tonight.

    However this sentence here:

Is basically telling me you aren't reading anything I'm saying, or its to complicated for you to grasp, I dunno which if what Im talking about is to complicated I can step it down to simpler stuff.

Basically, I'm saying that in order to prove that so far the trend in what you guys are seeing is not just coincidence but an actual trend, you need to perform a certain amount of tests, generally 100 is a good amount but the more the merrier.

Making inferences based on only 5 or so people's hearsay, without any actual evidence to back it up, isn't science. Its just theorycrafting, voodoo, etc.

You need evidence. You need data. You need proof.

And no, "I talked to some guys on alla and they said they got bad chest drop rate without mages" isn't proof.

Here would be an example of proof, here is the test I would set up to prove/disprove the theory that azure light grants higher chest drop rate.

    Alliance #1: blm x8, brd x2, corx2 (or smnx2 works as well), rdm, pld x2, blu x3

Target: Anything goes really just find something that works, puks, whatever.

Method: Have blu mages pull mobs into group with defensive buffs up, then the paladins voke/flash the monsters off of them but do not engage, just hold them from the black mages.

Black mages time nuke down the mobs as they are pulled into camp. Red mage focuses on keeping people alive while blue mages support heal alongside paladins.

Have 1 brd and 1 cor(or smn) in party with 4 of the 8 blackmages, keep full time refresh on the black mages.

Have only 2/3 of the blue mages pulling. When one gets low on mp swap off with the other extra blu and rest while he takes over.

Focus entirely on azure light, keep track, through parses or whatever, of blue red and gold chest drop rates.

    Alliance 2: paladin x2, red mage x3, bardx3, corx3, epicpileofDDs

This is simple, kill shit, don't get azure light ever. No magic nuking etc.

Once again keep track of chest drop rates. TARGET THE SAME MOB TYPE AS YOU WERE THE PREVIOUS TEST.

Do 50 of each run and find your average chest ratios, then post your data.

If you find a trend, then and only then can you actually say you're theory is true.

    As you said yourself:

    A couple more data points:

First alliance, on birds in LTP:
    -Almost no magic damage.
-Moderate kill speed - got to 250xp/kill in about an hour before the NM ruined out chain.
-Seemed like over 50% of the chests were red.
-Blue chests, at least when I became primary opener near the end, were mostly still '5 guess' tier.
-We didn't get any TEs and timed out.

Send alliance, on mandies in TC:
-Heavy focus on magic damage - 3 blms and 5-6 blus (though some were AF blus)
-Low kill speed - think we were only up to about 150-175xp/kill after 80 minutes (took 10+ minutes to get started though, but had 0 brds or cors, etc)
-Mobs seems a bit more 'primed' when we started, most were IT.
-No chests dropped for the first 20 or so kills, and slowly ramped up in frequency.
    -Seemed like 70-75% blue chests.
-Blue chests quickly ramped up to top-tier. After getting solidly to top tier, there were no lower tier blue chests, other than 1-2 lowest tier ones the entire run.
-Opened a lot of top tier, seemed like 10-15 with no TE, before, with 7 minutes remaining, we got our first TE. Having some keys to make sure we got those early ones was a huge help.
-TEs then became common. At one point, 3 mobs in a row dropped one.
-By this point, chests seemed to drop on about 66% of kills. At one point late in the run, I remember commenting on 3 kills in a row with no chest, because that just didn't happen by that point.
-We sat at the previously mentioned 'soft cap' of ~365xp/kill for what seemed like the last 1.5-2hrs. We never went above that.
-Fairly low percentage of chests were red, perhaps 15%. NEVER got a golden or ebon light. Red chests were almost entirely low-tier.
-Gold chests had a lot of top-tier, and some giant chests.
-We stayed for about 4:25, and left with about 80 minutes on the clock.
-Killed Bhumi on the way out, and it dropped a large gold chest with the 'overgrown mandy thingy' key item (also got one off of a mandy huge gold chest)

Ok so i requested to speak to a SGM about mine and my husbands abyssea time disappearing even though others have done our exact same actions and have not had their time disappear.

tl;dr: SGM: Just to verify the information: you had 55min of abyssea time left on Monday. Then sometime on Tuesday you attempted to return and had no remaining time. Yes? Ok then it appears that this is 'working as intended' and you should bitch at the support center if you want SE to be more clear about the rules of abyssea.

    this shits fucked up >.<

(oh and can a mod or someone spoiler those images? they are fucking huge. i cant figure out how to add a spoiler ><)

GMs are in charge of moderating things like bans.

You want the dev team, who you email.

Basically, you went to costumer service when you had an issue with your car in the parking lot.

    I'm not saying you're wrong.

I'm saying you can't be stating these things as solid fact yet without more data. At this time it's not proven fact, its just a trend

And I have every intention to post my data when I have it. If you wish to see other testing I am doing I have it all hosted on line. My last completed test was on the effects of fishermen's apron, and now I'm slowly working on Coconut rusks.

I strongly suggest google docs spreadhseet system, its awesome for uploading info to show to others, here's an example of what you can do:

Oh ok, my bad then. but still, even the GM was like: i don't see a reason to report this to the dev team.

Probably a lazy gm, sometimes you'll get one that goes all out for you, sometimes you'll get one thats like "yeahuh, mmhmmm, kk, yeah... ok buy"

Id report it if I were you nonetheless.

In regards to the lights, I don't accept much of anything that has been said in this thread so far going off of eyeballed personal testimonials. In these big alliance parties fights get spammed so fast it can be really difficult to eyeball something like that. And so people saying "well it sure felt this way" doesn't convince me. No offense to the people that have posted their info, it does help get some vague idea of what's going on. But now having looked into it seems plausible but still too uncertain to call it good.

In order to get some kind of objective result someone would need to keep track of as many enemy results as they can. Including: what light was given when the enemy died, what type of chest resulted, and what the chest contained. The entire job setup of the party would also be helpful. I'm willing to check it out next time we exp in Abyssea I just need to figure out what filters to turn on.

Or actually, more simply, all it would take to disprove the "focus on azure" idea is for one party full of melees to get a long exp session full of time chests. I know somewhere there's 15 SAMs ready to make with the expees.

    Pearlescent

Just to toss another light into the discussion besides azure...

The first few runs into Abyssea Tahrongi we focussed mostly on pearlescent light. Not intentionally, but that's how it worked out.

Eventually we started to receive temp items out of thin air... no chests or anything else. We'd kill a mob and get temp items from them. These were short runs (30-60 mins) but each person could get a couple of these items by the end of the time.

    Has anyone else observed this?

Happens very often, generally when your light gets very potent you'll obtain an item matching the light.
