I have a question.
Blue light comes from magic kills, right?
Does physical blue magic count?
I have a question.

Already confirmed, yes it does.
Now, Im not sure which is which according to you guys, but my linkshell got pearlescent lights off both melee kills and weaponskills kills.
Not only that, when focusing on trying to get lights off varying monsters we could easily build up a light on the same family, but as soon as we changed families we weren't getting any lights at all til 3-4 kills.
Seems building up light is connected to your chain of kills in family.
Not only that, but it seems the light from the enemy is based not on killshot specifically, but something else related.
Thank you very much.
Shark bite, so I dunno.
I was dual wielding so it could have been the addhit that counts at end from dual wield that counts as melee hit.
Edit: also looking at logs farther back I got a ruby light from a shark bite kill with saber dance up, double attack proccing.
I have added time like that before, just used stones and it added w/e leftover time i had from the previous time to the time i got from the stones. However there was that one damn time i lost my stored time. it wasn't an option anywhere, it was like it never existed ; ;
Talking about pearlescent lights had a dragoon in one of our runs, Pet got the kill, pearlescent light, wasn't sure if it was a normal attack or a breath attack, just throwing it out there.
Urat, for fucks sake, how many times do I have to say this shit? Shut. The. Fuck. Up.
You're spamming these topics with your useless posts. You have posted 92 times in this thread.. that's 28 more than the next highest, and I've yet to see you add anything of importance.
No one actually wants you here, and the admins need to just fucking ban your dumb ass faster.
Our Social LS (go Harbingers) put together an epic run last night on Tahrongi Coeurls.
26 TEs were opened over about a 6 hour period. I exited with 60 minutes remaining out of an original 90.
It was a very mixed alliance with no BRDs or CORs. We had a DNC pulling most the night, and a PLD, PUP, or BST opening boxes. Mixed Melee: 2H and 1H jobs.
I went through over a stack of pets. Despite no AoE, My sheeps took a lot of damage from taking hate.
GET KEYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our openers went back a few time to restock. When it looked like we'd fail on a XP, Cruor, or TE it was popped with a key. We lost about 4-6 TEs during periods when the opener was getting new keys (not that it mattered).
We had 2 BLM, a RDM or 2, and 1 WHM. Never stopped killing.
We let the BLMs get the killshot to put up Azure light. We got a load of blue chests doing this. Not so many red or brown. More blue chests = more TE imo. Azure light being up may or may not have effected this. More corroboration is needed. It worked for us (26 successful TEs) so we stuck with it.
XP stayed at 360 a kill. We put full emphasis on keeping Azure up, so we ignored red chests. This strategy may need to be rethought.
Maybe I can help then. I want 4 days ago and then today. Here were my results.
With random kills, mostly melee in the party we got a really good random bunch of chests. 0 time extensions. I would say blue red gold was about 40 / 50 / 10.
Tonight, oh sweet yes jesus tonight we had 3 blm and 3 blu and said hit the kill shot. All but 4 fights were azure light. All. but. 4. fights. were. azure. light. It stayed feeble the whole time, if that matters. Chest distribution was, blue red gold, 90/ 9 / 1. Gold chest doesn't deserve one percent because we only got one but w/e. 6 time extensions. Just data, take from it what you will, but it really does seem like the light helps the chests. We got up to 380 exp per kill.
Edit: Er, we had 10 time extensions, 4 failed >.>.
So that 8 hour alliance I was in, ended up lasting for a total of over 14 hours, I later found out.
That is just ridiculous lol. Get enough reps in their alliance and they will fight endlessly like starved dogs until they get their 350+ exp/kill.
Two data points. Chest "potency" for lack of a better word is based on the chain (or light) of the person getting the killshot.
About 1.5 hours into our 2.5 hour run tonight, I left to spend merits, resetting my chain.
Blue chests from people who stayed in continued to give 1250 limits when popped. Blue chests when I got the killshot (which happened often, I was the second highest DD on the parse) started terrible, and only slowly built up to the 1250 over the next hour.
One more anecdotal evidence, we got almost no amber light, and almost no gold chests.
Amber being a "golden" color, it seems highly possible to me that amber light = increase probability of gold chests, which don't seem to show up absent amber light at all. (We got exactly 1 in the last hour of hour farming, which coincided directly with the single amber light we got in a red chest while killing said mob).
We also got very little pearlescent light, so that may have something to do with it, but given that azure is a blue color, ruby is a red color, it make sense that the gold chests could have a gold color linked with them.
I believe pet kills, regardless of what type(breath, BP, melee, etc..) give pearlescent light. As there are several reports of pet kills, albeit they are of unknown method, giving pearlescent. And now this cropped screenshot of my groups NM kill where Titan, as you can see, got the kill shot using Geocrush.

Pearlescent light does not only come from pet kills. I got pearlescent light off the last mob killed, which I got the kill shot on with Jump.
