I did not mean to imply that only pet kills gave pearlescent light, merely that that's what color light pet kills give. Possibly, regardless of type of pet kill.

Pearlescent comes from a player WS/melee also, can't remember which, not just pets.

normal melee, assuming that's what jump counts at. WS were giving ruby. Always ruby. SO MUCH RUBY. (we had about a 30% magic kill rate and a 69.9% WS kill rate >_>) kparse had those of us who stayed the entire time at 90+k/hr for the last hour XD

My LS has, overall, experienced a severe lack in time extensions. This is despite using BLM killshots. Our 2hr bugard burn tonight was only briefly hindered by a failed attempt to mpk (lolskovnik) our alliance by a JP group trying to...take...a.....camp??? i don't even.......

We saw 3 time extensions total.
I'm not resigned to the azure light theory just yet, but frankly I can't think of a better theory to invest in just yet. The thought that you would need a certain level (feeble, faint, etc) of each light could be debunked fairly easily.

All that I can say for certain is that despite leeches being easy, after testing both, bugards are definitely better targets.

From my 10h run Gold seems to improve exp cap of chain ( tho 600 exp per kill is hard cap ) and Ebon idk but seems to some light make cruor cap higher till 75 hard cap per kill maybe it was ebon idk.

I thought Azure light made blue chests spawn more often =x? which is why people aimed for it because only blue chests contain time extensions.

I could be wrong though ~.~ its what i thought i had read.

Either way, Finally did a successful "Super-farm" earlier today and managed to get a good chunk of time extensions even after our "Azure" light dwindled (Somehow) to a Feeble instead of Faint.

Our pearlessent light never dropped below Faint, we got about an equal amount of Brown/Blue/Red chests, and even a few of the HUGE LIEK XBOX boxes with (Which i found hilarious) a Drink that gave Ranged Attacks Double-attack, and an AoE Fanatic's Drink called "Fanatic's Powder" or .. Dust... or something.

Either way, i noticed once a few our of mages were either slacking off or w/e, our blue box count did dip slightly, but never dangerously, and at one point for reasons unknown we have a few random "200cruor" and "250" exp boxes pop up in our ocean of 1000/1250.

Either way we just went with the Magic-Killshot method and stuck out for a good 14 hours =x (I was only there for ~5)

Probably so, the way people are so clear that Urat's retarded is all the shots of people with multiple chests, vs those of us that are focusing on blue light getting the same raw number of chests but just massively imbalanced towards blue.

Like, in my 6+ hour run where I was chest whore, I'd estimate about 10-12 gold boxes, 30ish red, and blue probably around 200+.

Just to clarify my ls was definitely getting pearlescent light from both ws kill shots and normal kill shots.

While trying to aim for ruby I had the members save tp til 20% on a mob and then ws to death, except of course itd only take 2 of them to finish it off from the DDs.

Thus the other 80% of the mobs HP were taken from straight up melee hits. In other words either we're still unsure about what causes these lights after all or there were flaws in our ws kill shots that caused us to get pearlescent instead of ruby, or the color of light you get is not the kill shot but the type of damage the most, but that would go against groups saying they staticed azure light by killing mob to 20~30% then time nuking it down for azure light, which leaves me puzzled.

I am 100% sure we got both ruby and pearlescent lights on both ws and melee kills though, so I dunno what to say, other than maybe if you build up a strong pearlescent light then try swapping to ruby you need to build up a certain amount of ruby light to overcome the pearl?

It also seemed to grant an exp and crour bonus on epheremeal mobs when you matched your color, though the sample size was far to small (only 10 kills) to say anything for sure, but instead of the usual 300/90 exp/crour we were getting 500/200. However this could also be some kind of result from the chain process of killing 4-5 mobs and building up a chain and "spending" it on the ephemeral mob.

Finally, if you trade your key to a freespawning chest and its a mimic, the key is not consumed.

Tonight I headed up a run for EXP/cruor farming in hopes of a super-chain. We focused on azure lights with plenty of BLM and BLU on hand for kill shots. However, we only got 3 time extensions in our time inside.

We weren't flawless in our azure kills, with 6 pearlescents speckles throughout. However, we had 160 azure lights, and it didn't seem to get us anywhere. Only 25 chests, 3 of which were red. The rest blue, 1 items, 2 restore, something like 9-10 exp and 9-10 cruor, and 3 time extension.

I don't know if we did something wrong, or maybe we just were unfortunate. EXP started at about 98 per kill, so the camp was probably pretty cold when we started.

Also, something strange I noticed: after a while we decided to try for red chests and hopefully get some lights to improve chain and possibly the chance at chests. When we aimed to kill with weapon skills, we never got a ruby light. We got no light at all... we were somewhat confused about it and decided to go back to magic kills since we were getting no chests without lights.

Anyway, more conclusionless information, but it's information nonetheless.

Yeah this was exactly what we found as well. Once we built up about 10 kills worth of pearlescent light to experiment on a white epheremeal mob, when we tried to shift back to ruby light for a red epheremeal it took at least 5 kills or so before we even got feeble ruby light.

    Figured I'd make a post mid-run...

Currently on 37 Time Extension boxes right now, they seem to come in bunches it seems. Been having our mages getting killshots to build up Azure light, then the DD just kill (storing TP, not using WS's) and the blue boxes just keep dropping like candy.

Several of us have been going back and getting multiple forbidden keys and using them to open the Cruor, EXP, and Time Extension boxes.

I'll update as we go along, but as of right now we're coming up on the 6 hour mark inside Abyssea Tahrongi.

Edit #8 - make that 68 Time Extensions and coming up on 10 hrs inside. This is fucking nuts!

See, this is why you are a complete laughing stock and I recommended you suck less in Abyssea. You're attacking people for pushing theories based on sound experience because it doesn't meet your standard of proof...while at the same time making false statements. You obviously haven't gotten very far along in the chain to see that it doesn't just apply to the next mob and exp doesn't go backwards in the chain after getting these boosts. It's how our ls and others are able to increase the soft cap from the mid 300's on mandies to the hard cap @ 600. If you see a lower number after the fact it's because the mob's level was low.

Stop being geeky science guy and shouting about how things must be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt in the little laboratory in your small brain and actually go find a group that will let you experience it first-hand.

Hide behind your "my group is more concerned with HNMs than exp" defense all you want...but here's a secret: by building up your time via a good exp session, you get to spend "free" time hunting and killing the HNMs.

There you go, now that is an accurate statement.

Sorry, but your statement is completely invalidated by the fact that the bolded text I already included makes it an accurate statement..and I used far more succinct language to do it and I actually defined the sample size making it far more relevant than your jibber-jabber of language vomit.

Add'l question: has anyone in long, successful exp session been able to test the Scarlet Abyssite of Kismet from Out of Touch? I didn't see it over the last few pages, but I might have overlooked. I just got enough fame to unlock the quest and am planning to track down the NPC after job change. Hoping it has a measurable effect.

how many times do you need to do previous quests to rank fame up?

it seems like sandy is the easiest to rank up using the fishing quest.. but i dont seem to be making much rank progress... cant tell. didnt check the fame npc anyway..

how many times do u have to do it to rank up significantly?

martello quest is stupidly hard to ever do since nobody uses them and they dont need replendishing

For me, it takes about 10-20 successful completions of quest to rank up. I started off with rusty items that I could find, about 10 of em, then followed up with one chestnut trade in that i happened to have. After that I did lots and lots of willow quests plus sunbeam fragment quest. The trick for the latter is to grab it about .2-.5 seconds after your character starts going back up. (at least for my slowass comp)

Once I ranked up enough, I did one time for completion (and I think more points than repeats) of the grenade tossing quest, and once you hit rank 2 you can do upgrades to martellos, which are more forgiving than refilling. Eventually I've gotten high enough that I do a willow run plus a pond cleaning run for evolith info gathering. Just get upgrade if person has supplies for martello, go to conflux 6 > get pond quest and run to two nearby ponds and back > conflux 4 > get willow quest and grab other two ponds nearby and come back > conflux 6 and complete the two quests, and if you got martello, fix that up nearby camp > warp back to conflux 1, claim cruor from martello person and exit, rinse and repeat. One run like this takes about 5-6 minutes if you got 25% movement speed like i did with sprinters + hermes, for 2-3 quests complete plus bonus cruor. (480 total, or 520ish if you did martello quest too, minus the 240ish it will cost you to warp around)

And some of the evoliths might be useful... at least the one for water blue magic accuracy seemed nice for regurgitation, and I hear theres some unique ones like minus martello use recast.

Before I could do pond quest I did sunbeam quest during daytime, which I did by grabbing sunbeam quest, martello if available > conflux 7 > complete quest > conflux 4 > grab willow quest > conflux 6 > complete willow quest, upgrade martello > back to start, finish sunbeam quest/martello quest and exit. Keep in mind you can only have one hi-reraiser, so if you do this one, use or toss it before doing sunbeam quest again, so you can claim the cruor. Doing this run took about 4-5 minutes with 25% movement speed for 2-3 quests complete as well.

You could also technically do just the willow quest by warping to 4 > 6 > exit, but this will net you a loss in cruor, not good if you got a low supply, but you might be able to squeeze in a win every 2 minutes or so.

repeatable once per entry to abyssea amiright?

gonna spend some time grinding fame then... i really wanna get that abyssite and unlock the quests for 10/10.

any idea to fame grinders elsewhere?

Not sure if this has been pointed out, but the quality of the chest depends on the person that had the killshot.

This adds to the theory that the lights are built up. Each message you have enhances your aura. The message is only how much your aura increased off that specific mob.

I had an alliance going last night, people coming and going or leaving to switch jobs/use merits. Once they got back in, if they performed the kill shot and a chest dropped, it would be a lower tier versus anyone that had been there for a while.

As in, tier 6 chests (extensions, 1000 cruor, 1250 exp) were dropping left and right.
RDM capped out, switched to BLM. Kill shot right after entering, his chest was lowest tier (200 cruor). As time went by he got a few more kill shots and moved up in tiers. Being the chest popper it was very obvious when he killed the mob.

ALL other chests outside of his killshots were still top tier.

Having kill shots matter with the quality of chests you get could be very very good. So if you wanted to keep high tier chests while replacing people just have those who have been there for a while to keep landing the kill shots. While those who just got there spend there time building up the light.
