I humbly stand corrected.
And wtf square.

3 minutes.... nice!
3min god mode sounds pretty fun if nothing else
so 3mins to be completely invincible huh. that isnt worth 2m in the least, but it's still lolworthy
Guarantee you the primeval brew "uncurses" you so atma effects work outside abyssea.
Omg yes thank you Square for explaining the damn lights. No more armchair theories. Primeval Brew sounds not worthwhile and gimmicky. It's neat but not 2million cruor neat. If it turns out to be required to kill Iratham that's gonna be some shit.
Changes to viewing stone timers is nice.
I guess then the better strategy for exping would be to pump out some pearl melee kills to make chests common, then switch to azure kills to make blue time chests more likely. Then if you have tons of time emphasize red or gold chests at your leisure. More or less what people were leaning towards.
Don't be silly, now we can solo our 50 two leaf chloris buds! =D
In 4 years time. -,-
Also, armchair theories? We already had the damned lights almost pinned down ourselves, though confirming pearl increases chest drop rate, and ebon also boosts everything, not just exp/cruor, are nice to know.
I fucking win.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/De...Q%26A:_Abyssea
What is the colored light you obtain after defeating an enemy in Abyssea? Do the light colors have anything to do with the different colored chests that can appear when a monster is defeated?
There are seven varieties of light obtainable, each providing a unique benefit to the player. Their effects are as follows:
Pearlescent: All sturdy pyxides will appear with greater frequency.
Azure: Blue pyxides will appear with greater frequency and yield superior spoils.
Ruby: Red pyxides will appear with greater frequency and yield superior spoils.
Amber: Gold pyxides will appear with greater frequency and yield superior spoils.
Golden: The adventurer will gain experience at an increased rate.
Silvery: The adventurer will obtain cruor at an increased rate.
Ebon: A small bonus will be granted to all colored light effects.
Multiple colors can be obtained at once, and each color will grow in intensity the more you acquire, granting even greater benefits. Use them well and these prismatic boons just might be the key to your survival in the harsh environs of Abyssea!
What is the the Flask of Primeval Brew? 2,000,000 cruor is quite a lot for a single item! It would be nice to know what it does before buying it!
Adventurers who quaff a flask of primeval brew will find themselves possessed of transcendent powers for a span of three Earth minutes.
While the deepest secrets of this beatific beverage are not for us to reveal, its benefits include a +999 boost to all attributes, Regen and Refresh that restore 300 points of HP/MP every three seconds, and other effects sure to bewilder even the most brutal Abyssean fiends.
Aside from the questions we received this time, we'd like to take this opportunity to announce two system enhancements that will be coming to Abyssea in the next version update. We will be adding a way for players to check their cruor supply, as well as the amount of time before they can obtain another traverser stone.
And of course, the upcoming Scars of Abyssea and Heroes of Abyssea promise to offer even tougher challenges and richer rewards—don't miss them!now that we know its not used to pop anything...FFXI continues to challenge players with new content. The Flask of Primeval Brew sounds pretty amazing. Maybe it'll help defeat Absolute Virtue - only time can tell! Communication with the development team is always a pleasure. Let's see what we might pry out of them next time. We hope you enjoy these opportunities.
sounds like bullshit to me
Standart strategy now in effect, fucking easy infinite exp for $9.99.
i was under the impression that you can't take those temp items out of Abyssea anyway...
also for the people doing Tahrongi fame, which is what I'm trying to raise now.. how are you repeating the box quest? i can't seem to get Apururu to give the quest again.. (or is it the wrong box quest)..
what i did manage to do was only buying a few stacks of pickaxes and wasting them all until i got a few hardened bones and spamming the Mithra quest each entry. Slow compared to LaTheine stuff to say the least...
but I think better than Konschtat for now..
Martellos at rank 1 are impossible to do when theres no one in the zone...
Could you essentially do the same thing as mentioned about the Willow Rod quest? Stockpile a shitload of Hardened Bones, set your homepoint near the maw, enter, teleport to the nearest conflux, trade to the NPC, and warp out? If so, that sounds somewhat faster than La Theine, assuming you buy a bunch of bones from the AH (big assumption).
The brew could still be used to pop something...
While the deepest secrets of this beatific beverage are not for us to reveal
I simply read that as "ooh flavor text referring to not being able to reveal the recipe or who brewed it, oooooh"
not really.
willow rods were easy since you could get them cheap off a merchant fast and outside of Abyssea. it seems Hardened bones come solely from Abyssea-Tahrongi excavation points.. and barely anyone mines these, let alone put them on the AH.
What you could do however, is dedicate a large amount of time to simply excavating a lot of hardened bones first, and then do the enter-exit thing.. altho unfortunately the nearest maw still requires you to run a fair bit to the quest NPC. You'd take like 4minutes a run instead of 1m15s from the willow quest.
Arguably u wont need to do quite as much of this, since it seems max fame is like rank 4 and once you can flag all 10 quests, you no longer need fame.
Just did an exp session in Konchstat, we got to the point of getting 580 exp per bugard, and had over 140mins, so we decided to just hunt NMs since everyone was caped on merits.
It was believed that fighting different family mobs reseted your exp chain or something like that? ppl aggroed stuffs otw to NMs, just to mention: Imps/Dybuks/and lots of glowing Limules, while the imps and dybuks didn't give awesome exp, they still gave 228 each one (only fought a couple of them, since it was aggro), some Limules were 900+, and the rest were caped @1k exp per limule, NMs were giving us 1k exp/cruor too.
Also, NMs and random mobs that we didn't chain were droping TE chests like candy.
