It was believed that fighting different family mobs reseted your exp chain or something like that? ppl aggroed stuffs otw to NMs, just to mention: Imps/Dybuks/and lots of glowing Limules, while the imps and dybuks didn't give awesome exp, they still gave 228 each one (only fought a couple of them, since it was aggro), some Limules were 900+, and the rest were caped @1k exp per limule, NMs were giving us 1k exp/cruor too.

Also, NMs and random mobs that we didn't chain were droping TE chests like candy.

XP chain resets but Light Aura doesnt.

That is suppose to be the intent of Abyssea after everyone caps out jobs and merits. Farm maybe 1-2hrs to build up Light Aura then Go hunting whatever u want.

Farming pop items will yield TE while u hunt NMs.

    This is my plan anyways.

If most alliances doing mandies were smart (or fully an LS alliance) you can xp on mandies while u pop thew bomb NM and make gobs of cash. Ur xp wont be maximized but you'd make bank off thew bomblets. Applies to all pop NMs I suppose.

Get a diverse enough alliance full of random jobs and you can test out Weakness of NMs and try to farm Abyssite or Atma while u farm for TE.

If I have the key items to pop the Quest NM for A Goldstruck Gigas - can I then bring people to kill so they complete quest also?

Or is it only me with the pop items that will complete the quest??

Everyone gets win if they have the quest flagged.

Perhaps in an LS farm, have everyone start off exping, and then an hour in, you could let one party of 6 continue to farm on their capped lights, stacking up TE's while the other 12 worked on killing NM's? That is, if you wanted to get started doing LS stuff early into the run and were worried at all about running out of time b4 the farm was done.
it seems Hardened bones come solely from Abyssea-Tahrongi excavation points.. and barely anyone mines these, let alone put them on the AH.
Well on Asura there are 30 up right now. Mind you they're about 20k a-piece. Prolly still worth it, considering how valuable time in Abyssea can be for players at the moment. How many of these would it take to cap fame?

Also with the primordial brew, I think it's a pretty cool idea. Assuming you were able to get all the top-tier pop items for a given mob solo, a guaranteed solo would be a nice exchange for all the grinding towards getting the brew; for people that find they can't commit to an LS.

Thinking of how best to use the brew. I'm not sure if the brew is amazing considering there isn't an AV or PW of Abyssea (unless it's Iratham). But my mind wanders far too easily towards would-be exploits. If there was such a crazy boss, a possible exploit would be something like... Get a brew. Stand by an NPC that you know will trigger a CS if you talk to it. Have a friend pop an NM and drag it to you. When it gets there, pop chainspell and then the brew. Nuke it down. Trigger the CS and if the game mechanics are working as they usually do, I imagine that 2 hours later when you exit from the CS, you'll have your 2hr back and still be under the effects of the brew. And you could repeat this 'x' number of times until you run out of pops or until the brew wears off.

Thinking back about super bosses, SE has said at some point that WoTG would end with an end-game area similar to sky/sea and also include a "super boss" like AV or PW. Assuming that the Walk of Echoes boss is a pushover, maybe the new super boss (assuming they kept their word) would be Iratham?

to further support the idea that ephermeral mobs give more light than normal mobs, I ran around abyssea la theine today and made sure that there are at least 3 different glow colors on those mobs: blue, red and white. the one im listing here as red looked more like amber than ruby but I'm not so sure. If they didnt give more lights than normal mobs then i'd think killing them with light matching theirs might do something.

I tested that entire theory quite a bit with my ls, its been our major goal at the moment.

So far it looks like when you kill eph mob you almost always get the color of light they are glowing, pearl/blue/red so I will say that I won't be surprised if we find they give a big bonus to light.

Now we need to figure out how to kill them without killing the chain... Unless if, per say, you had the group focus not on exp but just hard chaining lights.

Kill eph mobs and whatever is close at hand, then get your chain up high and focus on exp?

can use them to increase TE drops while killing NMs. thats about the only use.

so far no one got past faint light, these could help.

also forgot to mention. there seem to be different glow strengths on the mobs as well. unless blue light just looks weaker.

I had two SMNs do a bit of testing last night during our mandy farming run. The only glow they were able to obtain with an avatar was pearlescent.

Warning! Long speculative post about amber lights.

Last night my LS did a exp session in Konschtat hoping for mega chests for key items. On Sunday we had luck here and got 4 key items and a bunch of other pop items. About halfway through our run, the Q&A came out and confirmed the lights. We were having a hard time getting amber light/gold chests, so we went back in our log from the Sunday run and saw that all of our Amber lights came from red chests (one being the very first chest off the very first mob).

Since we were already about 3hrs into this run, our ruby light was built up and red chests were only giving gold/silver/ebon light. We hadn't gotten any amber lights at this time so we weren't sure if the ebon bonus would count towards a light we haven't started building yet. We had a member change to ranger since we had 2 on Sunday and 0 last night. When he came back into the zone, we had him get some killshots (to see if RNG specifically had an effect on chest lights) and his red chests had some amber lights. Another member (on WAR) capped merits and left to spend them. When he came back, we had him get some WS killshots and those red chests also had some amber lights. Gold chests were extremely rare until we had those members leave and come back.

It seems like if you build your ruby light up, you tier out of the regular azure/ruby/pearlescent chests and into the gold/silver/ebon chests. We only got one red chest that gave azure after we built up ruby light and it gave "an intense (or immense, not sure cause i didnt open it) azure light" which brought members up to TE tier after only 5-10min of being in the zone. If ebon light doesn't build up a light you haven't gotten yet, building up ruby light too fast can screw you. Best strategy to get around this would be to focus on pearlescent first (which most ppl are doing now) with maybe a few WS killshots to increase the chances of getting red chests instead of blue. Once you start getting chests, peer inside and only open red that have amber/gold/silver/ebon for a bit then move onto building azure light.

with this new info on(or rather confirmation) on chest drops, what do people think is the ideal alliance for exp?

    been doing:
    6blms
    3DD/brd/cor/WHM
    2pullers/chestguy/2dds/whm

obviously this is far from ideal, suggestions?

With a full alliance, I think anything more than 4 BLMs would be overkill. I had 1 BLM doing kill shots in a group of ~6 last night and we didn't have a problem getting constant azure lights. Our problem was kill speed (due to having two SMNs cause I wanted to confirm that there wasn't a blood pact that would give azure). Next week we'll hopefully be running with 11-12 and I'll be able to tweak things better.

It would appear so. I just wanted to complete the pet data a bit more.

Automatons melee/WS/magic kills give correct lights since it is the only pet who actually casts magic or WS.

Avatars always gave pearl light when they killed, even with a magic ability, my assumption was all avatars abilities are actually JA's which will cause pearl (EES kill caused pearl). im not sure but i think BST pet WS's are also bst JA's and would cause pearl as well?

On both of my exp runs this week, both on mandies, we have not been able to get ruby or amber lights from WS kills. We just get no light from those kills. Last night we had awful luck getting ruby from the red chests that DID drop, so we never ranked up the chests and never broke the exp soft cap. (We did get mostly amber from the chests, though, and multiple times had 3 HEUG LIEK XBOX gold chests up at once...)

I've seen other people mention having problems, but no speculation or theories on what's going on... Are people having problems only in Tahrongi? Maybe only mandies are a problem? Or might the ws kill theory not be complete? I'm pretty sure we were getting ruby lights on the mandies last week, but not positive...

What WS's were you using for the killshots? I noticed last night that killshots like Tachi:Koki (physical ws that deals elemental dmg) would not produce any light.

Regarding the amber chests, your post actually matches up with what I wrote in my long post a few above this one. Since you weren't able to get your ruby light to a higher tier, you stayed in the initial light range that red chests can give.

if you had a lot of the lights that give xp/crour bonus when you fight regular mobs again do you still have that bonus?

Had a similar experience last night. I was trying out killshots with Leaden Salute and after about 6 or 7 they still gave no light message at all.

So it was posted and i missed or none yet saw this?

    http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/De...Q%26A:_Abyssea

What is the colored light you obtain after defeating an enemy in Abyssea? Do the light colors have anything to do with the different colored chests that can appear when a monster is defeated?

There are seven varieties of light obtainable, each providing a unique benefit to the player. Their effects are as follows:

    * Pearlescent: All sturdy pyxides will appear with greater frequency.
    * Azure: Blue pyxides will appear with greater frequency and yield superior spoils.
    * Ruby: Red pyxides will appear with greater frequency and yield superior spoils.
    * Amber: Gold pyxides will appear with greater frequency and yield superior spoils.
    * Golden: The adventurer will gain experience at an increased rate.
    * Silvery: The adventurer will obtain cruor at an increased rate.
    * Ebon: A small bonus will be granted to all colored light effects.

Multiple colors can be obtained at once, and each color will grow in intensity the more you acquire, granting even greater benefits. Use them well and these prismatic boons just might be the key to your survival in the harsh environs of Abyssea!

What is the the Flask of Primeval Brew? 2,000,000 cruor is quite a lot for a single item! It would be nice to know what it does before buying it!

Adventurers who quaff a flask of primeval brew will find themselves possessed of transcendent powers for a span of three Earth minutes.

While the deepest secrets of this beatific beverage are not for us to reveal, its benefits include a +999 boost to all attributes, Regen and Refresh that restore 300 points of HP/MP every three seconds, and other effects sure to bewilder even the most brutal Abyssean fiends.

Aside from the questions we received this time, we'd like to take this opportunity to announce two system enhancements that will be coming to Abyssea in the next version update. We will be adding a way for players to check their cruor supply, as well as the amount of time before they can obtain another traverser stone.
