I only did Indra's, magian crap is too annoying to do, though ill prob do Ice if the next update ups it's MAcc.
Pretty much this. While the extra 10% damage would be nice, I don't feel it's worth the effort unless they continue it in the next update as the 5 INT and 10 skill on top of the accuracy is too much to lose.

It's been an absolute pain in the ass just getting past the 50 treants though (19 left) that I'm not sure I even want to bother doing it a second time for my Dark Avatar Staff (decided Indra would be better)

I've been considering fire staff mostly because I'm wondering if Fire V will be the highest nuke at the 90 cap.

I'm hoping that eventually they let us synergize the macc/mdmg staves together to make a super stave, but that'd probably make too much sense. So like Indra's with mdmg synergized with Indra's with mdmg for MACC/MDMG +4 or +5.

No, you should be doing thunder and ice damage just like every other blm. No, you do not need to keep using aquilos all the time because of the acc, even scholars should be using ice damage magian staff most of the time.

How is it "not worth the effort"? A 1.25 staff modifier destroys a 1.15 staff modifier with +5 INT *unless* you need the extra accuracy. Considering how much I nuke as SCH with capped or nearly capped accuracy with a full potency set, a BLM should be able to get away with a +4 damage/+1 accuracy staff pretty much full time.

BLM got enough additional elemental magic skill going 75->80 to account for the difference between NQ and HQ accuracy (as I've said earlier in the thread).

So, as a Red Mage, Bard, Black Mage, and Summoner:
    Earth MAcc staff (Kubera's)
    Ice Potency staff (Varuna's)
    Thunder Potency staff (Indra's)
    Dark Perp- staff (Yama's)
    Cure Potency staff (Surya's)
    Avatar MAB staff (Shareeravadi)

I don't really want to. Holy crap that's a lot of mobs. It's sad how possible it seems after doing the 2-3 dagger though.

As main WHM, RDM, BLM, Gonna go with +4 Acc stadd for Dark, Cure potency for Light, and +4 Damage for the other 6 elements.

Currently done w/ Cure potentcy, working on Yama's Staff now, I'm on the 150 drain kills on birds, about halfway done.

EDIT: Not sure if there's a faster place to do this, I've just been killing Marsh Murres in the ares between Nashmau and Hazhalm Testing grounds, I notcied DRG's come here occassionally for some polearm trial, so i just solo there and pick them up if they wander by.

Anyone else done this and found a more efficient spot?

You could try Lesser Colibri somewhere. There are also some EP birds in Bibiki Bay.

Same as what I'm fighting now, unless I can get them from 100% to 7-3% in 1-2 nukes won't be much different.

How long does is realistically take (time spent playing, not full days since playtime availability varies) to fully upgrade one of the Magian staves?

I completed the first 4 thunder trials in a single day with help (friends, level syncs, strangers working on similar mob families, etc). Weather trials are a pain because weather can be so fickle, but I had luck with multiple days in a row with thunder weather in Boyahda for spiders and Jugner for anything thunder day/weather. Vermin/beetle trials can be done quickly thanks to chigoe/Goblin's Beetles. Slimes suck because no one else does trials on them so you're stuck soloing them and they're only found in dungeons in any significant quantity (hello 16 minute respawn timer). It takes 3 T4s and maybe an extra low tier thunder will kill the ones in Garliage Citadel [S] or Den of Rancor (I killed about 20 per hour solo).

Weather trials, your mileage will vary greatly depending on season.

    For Thunder Staff:
Saplings, 3 hours, Synced to 15 in Tahrongi.
Spiders, 3 hours, unsynced in Bhaf, partied.
Anything, 1-1.5 hour - Find a camp with 2 BST/SMNs, roughly 1 pet kill per minute. Recommended to wait for Thundersday, otherwise can try bat pets in vunkerl but double the time needed for this trial
Beasts, 2 hours - Gigas Tigers in Vunk, common weather.

    Vermin, 3 hours - Gob Beetle x2, Sauro_S
    Slimes, 9-12 hours - 8 slimes, 16m repop in GC_S
    Beetles, 4-5 hours - Back to Sauro_S
Fungaurs, 5-10 hours - Get a melee friend to help you to get on the lower end of the range.

    Total: 33 Hours +

    Ice Staff:
Saplings, 3 hours, Synced to 15 in Tahrongi.
Slimes, 4 hours, Synced to 40 in Ranguemont Pass. 5 pops, 16m repop, but almost permanent weather
Anything, 1.5 hours, Goblin Bat in Pso'Xja tower near Batallia. 1h if you do iceday + 2bst camp anywhere else.
Amorphs, 2.5 Hours, Worms in Uleg

Arcana, ??? - No real idea what solo would be like here, plenty of people need arcana trials on various days in ro'maeve, leeched killshots here. Took about 4 hours as cor/sam*Tachi Goten,Jinpu Trials/whm/sch. Can also leech Cluster kills for Sword/Katana OA2/3 weapons.
Lizards, 4.5 hours - Mamook, Mamool Ja pets up near Hundredface NM
Bees, 4-7 hours - Leech Melees in Woodlands, or sync to 42 (Blizzard2 for 150+) and recamp gob bsts in Yhoator.
Crabs, Still on bees, I imagine this will take 7 hours with a melee friend, so.. 14+ solo. Vunkerl or Boyahda to hopefully team up with people.

    Total: 35 hours +

If you're solo, Pashow (S) has plenty of crabs on 5 min repop without much competition

Finding a synch for the stupid trials is proving to be such a bitch omg -.-

I'm still stuck at 31/50, and I doubt I'll ever finish 650 for my GKT...

It would be too easy I suppose, but if SE would just remove that stupid EXP clause.... I mean honestly wtf is gonna happen when we're 90~99? EP's at 75 are crazy enough, never mind 90+.

Assuming you're level 80, saplings definitely didn't take me 3 hours. If there is no weather it's pretty easy to gather 3 or 4 and take them to low hp and just sleep them until weather pops, but it's almost always weather there so..

The any mobs on thunder day/weather took me ~30 minutes in Grauberg. Just gather a group of 4 Chigoes and sleepga them, an unresisted thundaga 3 oneshot all 4. Gather 4 more and repeat. Same thing for the Vermin trial as well. Haven't gone past there but if you're not 80 I'd think about waiting (assuming you are doing it on BLM) because convert makes this a lot easier.

Saplings - Where are you killing them? Any zone with sapling instead of Treant that is 56+ doesn't seen to have enough weather, compared to crag zones. 3h was based on my most recent run, which had some seriously poor weather. Given permanent weather, 30-40m tops doesn't sound out of line.

Chigoes/Vermin - Valid point for sure, I didn't consider this camp. While it's probably faster than bats (also, no competition from low-level blm), I doubt 30 minutes, without quite a bit of MP assistance.

Remove xp never going to happen, would make em all way too easy.
Also, EP didn't change from 75>80, if that keeps up trials will become easier over time, as the level gap widens.

Off the wall question, but do any commonly done magian trial use opo-opos? I'm on my last 3 trials for Yama's Staff with +4 M acc, pugs and crabs won't bee too bad as I can go to Grauberg [S] for kills on both, solo when needed, or team up as ppl come through on the same mobs.

But the final trial requires 300 Opo-opo kills, only place I can think of is the Bullbeggars in Den of Rancor, but I never see anyone shouting for "Opo-opo Killer" trials, am I SoL there and just need to solo?

Anything better than doing carby meteorite killshots on goblin rabbits for the 150 light kills for the cure potency staff? =/

Switch to White Mage and use Banish II or III? Use Holy Mist? Not a whole lot of options.
