Nothing stopping you from teaming up with melee on trials and having them allow you the killshot.

It's not necessarily exact same trial, you can sometimes work on them with people doing same element but other trials, if it happens to work out as same mobs.
Also for bst, the pet that kills doesn't have to be yours, or even on any trial at all. A summoner that has no related trial can still get kills for a bst.
This is pretty much what I did. I could kill 2 mobs easy per MP pool, 3 if Conserve MP proc'd favorably or I used convert. With 7 mobs (6 on the big island and 1 on the one just south) I did 2->2->3. I found it easier to just stay there because mobs were generally repopping a few minutes after the set of 3, about the same amount of time it would take to run over to the other set of EP mobs.
Killshots are still a PITA. As an avid spellcast user I find it very annoying to try to do these trials with other mages unless I lock the trial staff on full time (which is also a PITA). Doing it with melees is a bit easier as you only have to snipe the kill.Originally Posted by Gwynplaine
Working on my Dark DMG staff right now, and it's the most annoying of all. Trying to snipe the kill with either Drain or Bio II is hell. (I'm still working on my staff skill to be able to utilize the WS kill methods recommended previously).
How is it a pain in the ass? just change your variable to equip the staff instead unless they're all still on the teiwaz stage.
I just got lazy on my cure staff trials and threw into spellcast if day or weather is light and target name has elemental ; then lock that staff on. Works great for solo ; but in a group i just /sc disable main and live with the decrease in potential for the gain of more kills.
Because it changes back to my standing set after my spell is cast (Terra's Staff). I have a macro to equip just the Teiwaz/whatever, but if 2-3 BLMs start casting at near the same time and I'm not the one to land killshot it will frequently die between changes. I suppose a viable alternative would be temporarily remove any staff from my spellcast standing set.
You could just put your terras in your bazaar or satchel
//sc disable main
mind blown
I'm aware of how it works, but then I'm casting most spells with a shitty staff. While possibly acceptable when spamming EP stuff (the lower level wyverns in Riverne) it's a marked disadvantage if you're taking on higher level mobs for whatever reason. Same with bazarring/satcheling my Terra's staff - that's great if I don't want to use it, but not much help if I do.
sc v s earthstaff "<Trial Staff>" worked best for me - changes your Terra's to your Trial weapon, as long as you aren't casting some other element close to killshot time (and your SC is set to equip $EarthStaff when idle, not Terra's specifically) you should be getting credit all the time.
About a few days ago I seemed to get 5 kills per 1 kill for trial 791 and 828 (whm staff line) after taking a small break. I did the next one and it seems to go back to the normal 1 to 1 kill. Did they change the early trials recently to make it faster?
Yes I realize that there may be a few exceptions but they're somewhat rare. The best bet as was said before is teaming up with non-retarded melee (idiots who feel the need to WS kill can die in a fire.) The only other thing I can kill think of that would work with a damage elemental killshot trial would potentially be a accuracy elemental trial if the mobs actually are the same. No matter what they can only speed up kills a bit you need to make sure to get a +X damage nuke for the kill.
Nah I was just talking out of my ass.
Yes, I've tested it, it worked great. Cut down time spent in mire substantially when weather would pop and I could have bst fighting one imp and smn killing another. This was while working on pet acc axe. It was also quite useful during lightningday, because I didn't really have to worry about fighting people for pet killshots when the smn can just knock them out from 50% for me.
I just change my idle main to the trial staff. Sure you dont have the terra's equipped if you get hit but if you're that desperate make a quick in-game macro for equip main terras. That way I still nuke with the appropriate staves but have trial staff macroing in asap after.
Fack, just realized I now have even more staves to do than before... not only do I have to do the 6(7 w/ dark), ELemental Damage staves, but now I need to do Wind/Ice(arlready have dark, thank God) to +4 at least on the Elemental accuracy staves.
This just keeps getting worse and worse. XD
Just tried this camp for Indra's +1, I like it, seems really nice. 8 saplings you can -ga out on a 5 min repop. and more than enough Mature Treant to kill as filler for the sapling repop.
Get at least 1 other person and it comes a massive rape fest.
Went from 220ish > 79 in a little over an hour.
2 month necro I know, etc, etc.
So Agni's staff trials were going great (Fire DMG) until the Agni's +1 trial....
Trial 2170: 250 Evil Weapon
Finishing blow 250+ Fire damage
Am I missing something or am I really stuck going to sky and running around ro'maeve? If that's my only option I may wait until update and see if they put evil weapons in any of the new abyssea zones.
It's not too bad, if you have a decent sword or dagger skill just melee ones in Ro'Maeve to about 15% then finish off with Fire III. What I did with the ice path and didn't take long at all.
