    Octave Club

    I don't know if search is just failing but I can't find a post dated in the last 3 days covering this. Simple question: Is the effect valid beyond 75? LV76 should yield 2-4 hits (or at least 2 hits), so someone should know by now. Whether or not this question deserves its own thread is of course debatable, but I'd like to think a lot of people are interested in knowing.

    i though Octave Club only worked in increments of 8, starting at 64, and ending on 72 until Level 80, and only ever attacked 2-8 times, nothing else inbetween

    edit: well i'll be damned, it does attack twice @ 76.

    You act like there's never been ninja changes before. Kraken Club was removed from the drop pool due to drama. Part of me wants to believe that items that have a certain effect will always have that effect, but there you have it. Why would they add back to the game what they removed? The question isn't what I'm asking anyone to assume, because I can assume two possible scenarios on my own without saying anything. I'm asking if anyone actually knows.

    My point was that SE says what works and what doesn't, and it doesn't always play by the expected rules. Why shouldn't accession work for haste? It works for every other spell (don't give me the 'it takes away smn's hastega uniqueness', no one uses smn in parties and even less for BPs that other mages can easily cover, even SE should be able to see that).

    I'm also curious to know if OC works. I hoped haste would, but I know SE better than that.

    Oh yea, thats why that group a few mins ago took so long to get everyone up from walk of echoes, the sch forgot to raisga everyone!

    Hmm, raise is a more obvious one than haste though. I don't think haste would be overpowered. Haste doesn't cost all that much mp compared to a spell like raise, and raise also has a very long recast time comparatively. It wouldn't have broken jobs that much to get hastega, since a good mage can sit there and haste cycle the entire party all day without breaking a sweat anyway. So, yes, it was at least a little surprising to me that SE wouldn't allow accession hastega, but it's obvious raisega isn't something that can just be handed out.

    And to stay on topic, considering the rarity of kraken club and the fact that octave club does essentially the same thing and this level has just opened up the possibility of a full-power octave, which is relatively easy to get, it SEEMS like it wouldn't just be something to hand out, either.

    Rajas (and CoP rings) are not. They have "tiers".

    It seems either no one knows or those who do are keeping quiet. Thanks for the effort, anyway, but it seems we'll need to wait a while longer for concrete information.

    I'll check when this party breaks(currently on SAM, but have MNK76) or when I hit 80, whichever comes first. It's not super relevant unless you have RNG though, mnk should easily outdo DRK at 80 with zerg buffs.. at least on current targets. Newer targets tend to resist souleater.. but time will tell.

    I would think SE would tier the cop rings out to 99 eventually. But yeah, who knows.

    I'm glad you brought this up. I've been wondering for sometime what the future would hold for kraken/octave club. With weapons getting better, attack getting higher, New Minuet(s) added later, drk roll giving more attack due to higher base attack.....will kraken be phased out as a dominant zerg weapon? It seems like HP increases post 75 are quite small so the 76-99 levels may not give any boost to kraken other than 300ish HP.

    Meanwhile, if this update is any indication, we will continue to see the base damage on weapons and ammo substantially increase. Not to mention the gear being added that seems to favor standard attacks vs. SE. Even if new mobs didn't resist SE (which it appears they will if recent history holds) how long before kraken (and octave at appropriate levels) is just for rangers, melee whms, and the occasional ninja in campaign?

    Did you seriously suggest MNK will be able to outdo the direct equivalent of a Kraken DRK with zerg buffs? Am I missing something here?

    SE is crushing the use of SoulEater with every update. DRK zerg is not going to die but it will be strongly contested and on harder mobs surpassed by standard melee approaches.
