I absolutely love Spiders and will never ever kill one, but since I don't want another ban I will refrain from posting my personal favorite; the wolf spider!

I will go with my second favorite animal which is the Whale, specifically the Right Whale. I love the transition these wonderful mammals made from land to the sea and being awesome at it. I love whale anatomy, everything from its mammalian pelvis to its vestigial hind legs. Whales, FUCK YEAH!

Lots of Raccoons in Vancouver. In our main park downtown they're border-line domesticated. I love seeing them, they're always a trip.

i see so many ppl saying dolphins. aren't they classified as one of the most asshole-ish animals in the animal kingdom? lol

or is that why we all actually like them? i've kicked plenty of sharks by accident this summer, and they never even come close to being aggressive. even big stingrays pose more of a threat than they do sometimes. they are incredibly cool and i like i still respect them 100% so they would be my #1. and ill tell you one thing. if i had to go scuba diving, i would rather swim around a school of shark than dolphins who are naturally aggressive

This shark is highly migratory.

this is the common ones we find in West Palm, that and sandtiger sharks. this one looks like a big tuna lol, but its fucking fast. they can come up pretty close to the shore, but they are 150% harmless.

When I was a freshman in college my school had a special elective class that taught exotic cat anatomy and care-taking, but you had to be at least a 2nd year student to take it. My 2nd year the discontinued the class, to this day I don't know if I've ever been that sad.

Bonobo's fuck for fun too, not just Dolphins, but I would call those non-human people, not non-domesticated animals.

Mantis Shrimps are so badass, if you tasked one with killing a whale, it would look at it, and say "I'll get right on it, boss."

Fennec Fox is another win. They are becoming more and more popular as domesticated pets though.

Once I move into the new house and get the whole marriage out of the way, I will more than likely be getting one.

Those mantis shrimp are not something to fuck around with either. Mine split my thumb right below the nail while I was cleaning out his tank. They are also very intelligent animals. There's another video on youtube of one completely destroying a Blue Ring Octopus (one of the most venomous animals in the ocean).

There's also mantis shrimp that have spearing raptoral appendages, instead of the clubs the above has. The "spearers" have burrows deep in the sand, that they use to ambush fish. Here's a picture of one in action below. The "clubbing" action of the mantis shrimp is widely known as the fastest mechanical biological process in nature(335,000 ft/s).

Honestly, that video alone may not look like much to many people, but seeing that elephant use the shovel is absolutely amazing to me. The usage of tools is one of the very few things that separates us from what we consider to be lower life forms, and the usage of tools to change the world around you can help to really de-emphasize the randomness of natural selection in evolution.

I don't know much about elephants but that kind of intelligence is unbelievable. I also wasn't aware we still used elephants in circuses as I was unaware that circuses still actually existed. I'm being completely serious here, that blows my mind. What the fuck do people even go to see? It's a fucking circus.

I'd like to see more if you want to post some more videos or information. The study of some of the primates recently on the publicized specials regarding their usage of tools (specifically insect-foraging sticks and cracking nuts) has really emphasized the not-so-large distance between us and them in the grand scheme of things. It's easy to get lost in the obvious difference as I type this post on a laptop, but in the scale of life on the universe, as Carl Sagan outlined, if the entire scale of the life of the Earth is proportioned out over a single calendar year the difference between humans evolving over lower primates occupies less then the last 10 seconds of the last day of the entire year.

I'm always interested in tool-usage among other animals, so if you have anymore videos like that I'd love to see it. And for those who may not think it's a big deal, ponder for a moment, how many different things you can do with a shovel. The elephant oriented it in space, properly, used the correct side of the shovel face, and basically used it as correctly as possible. Considering if it was just fucking with a toy it may have tried to poke the ground with the handle, it's quite a difference.

I am at work right now on lunch, so can't post anymore vids...but can relay a story. I was pressure washing the patios that lead into the barn on the side where the elephants hang out sometimes. One of the girls comes up and sees me pressure washing. No big deal, they tend to watch when we are doing things out of the ordinary. She makes an odd squeak noise...goes and gets a trunk full of water out of the automatic waterer about 30 ft away...then comes back and makes a long loud rumble 'till I look up at her. She then sticks her trunk out and sprays herself in the face and along her head. She repeats this about 3 times before looking at me like I'm retarded and walking into the woods. I find out later that our boss sprays her with the mist from the pressure washer when he does it and she was trying to show me what to do. Trying to teach me like she would an infant. That just blew me away.
