could someone explain the mining a little bit?

I what i got was:

for the first bar you slide it up and down to select the strength of your swing.

then on the second one you are trying to get the moving orange band to stop in the kinda grayed out area around the bullseye

The first part is new. The second part (that was in Alpha) is a hot/cold thing, you have to find the sweet spot and keep hitting it.

Seems like they are mini games to prevent RMT from position warping and mining... maybe?
