I think I'm thinking of something different, I do know there's no auto face though.
I think I'm thinking of something different, I do know there's no auto face though.
I'd like to smack any and all people that complained that Marksman were OP because they happen to get killed by them in Warfronts.
I'm pulling 240dps in instances while champions and pyro's are doing 420+. What's even worse is that shaman are out dps'ing me also. While 25% more damage for the 51 skill is nice, our skills don't seem to scale well compared. I really feel bad for melee rogues. This is at level 42 btw.
I hope this is the case, because the current ones just seem...tedious. Pretty much the same quest text, exact same quest objective too.
Bard seems silly in warfronts so far, usually in the top 5 for healing and damage, sometimes topped both. Spam Cadence then Coda of Fury for some AoE damage, while keeping all motifs up.
In black garden, I've found that aoe > all, I'm only Lv21 though so I can only speak for the low brackets. I'm a cabalist cleric, and I'm pretty much always the highest damage dealt in black garden by a significant margin because of aoe. The Codex is a different story, I've had a lot of trouble in there so far. It just seems more open, so the other team isn't grouping up as much for me to aoe them.
To illustrate the power of aoe in black garden, here's the results of one of my black garden matches last night, sorted by damage dealt:

Here's a question: what do you want out of your MMO? Honestly. What do you expect, in your own mind and in your own thoughts, that you'll be, or should be doing while logged onto the servers. I think we need to figure that out before we can start catering our answers to you.
Edit: There's an auto-run and an auto-follow. You can simply type /follow while targeting someone, or left click then click follow, or keymap it to whatever you want. For auto run, start running, then hit num lock or / - you can also keymap this.
I don't understand it. Rift provides pretty much every option that's been in any recent MMO in history, and people are still confused as to what they can and cannot do in the game, despite everything being listed somewhere (most in pretty obvious spots, like the sections they're supposed to be listed in) in either the UI page, the help page, the keybind page, or simply by clicking on someone.
I believe the people are referring to the auto-face and auto-approach to the mob. The shit Aion has and is basically built for leveling bots.
And he's absolutely right, plus it would hurt PVP. I've never played Aion, but seriously? Auto approach? The game actually runs up and smacks the mob for you? What do you actually have to do in the game if its auto-turning and auto-fighting? All you do is press macros and click icons? Does movement pay no part in the PVP part?
I'm genuinely curious; I know XI had auto-targeting, but even it didn't have "auto-approach". That just sounds lazy as piss; totally devoted to knowing that you have nothing to do but grind, so here's some tools to help you grind easier.
For endgame I think I've heard that they have some level 50 dungeons, you can also go back and run the dungeons from the previous level brackets on expert mode and new bosses and such, level 50 exclusive warfonts (battle for port scion I think), expert mode rifts and rift raids, zone wide events, PvP prestige system opens up so you can start gaining PvP levels. I'm not sure if they said there would be any objective oriented open PvP zones yet though.
^ They said they'd consider it if the other world PVP inticements flare up or if there's sufficient interest shown by the player-base at large, not simply the 10% of each server that compromises the hardcore (anywhere, anytime, gank gank gank) PVP crowd.
Oh, they also said they're considering a Darkness Falls type instance. I've never played DAoC, but apparently it's a type of a PvP contested dungeon.
It's WoW's setup with Rifts, a dynamic easy to make form of encounter. There are already "heroic" dungeons, called expert level, that are for EVERY dungeon in the game. Then they've stated there will be different levels of Rifts, from normal to expert (heroic) level and then essentially 10-man raid content from rifts. And of course 20 man raids. So from the sounds of it it'll have the same kind of content as WoW but with BCNM's.
To be honest, the lack of at least auto-facing is a pain in the ass in busy encounters, particularly fire rifts where the ground and mobs look way too similar to the targeting red arrow to be readily noticed. So, while you think you're targeting the mob closest to you, maybe it went to the one behind you. Anyway, I don't think depriving features solely because you're afraid of the botting boogeyman is a way to go. Just watching them in Aion, their running areas were usually pretty small, often amongst non-aggro mobs. Rift isn't the most friendly of games if you link multiple targets, nor can I say I've stumbled into too many tight-knit, non-aggro camps. Actually, I'd almost argue aggro/linking ranges on things are too great in places.
For some reason I feel like I'm playing Rift Blade, wrong. Either that or it's kinda underpowered. My armor's decent from questing and such, as are my weapons, but there a lot of fights where I love about 50% HP and am waiting on a bit of regen before I move to the next.
Yeah in beta 6 they increased mob damage and HP because people were complaining that they were too easy. You might want to try out some different specs though to see what works best for PvE grinding for you. Maybe beastmaster so the pet can tank for you.
Marksman solo leveling 40+ is the same way. My pet is level 35 and can't hold hate off me and the mobs hit hard. I can usually get the mobs to 35% by the time they get to me but then i'm instantly at 50% health. Forget it if i pull 2 mobs, i just book it out of there. Mobs are way too packed to be able to kite properly. It's just so much more fun to duo quest or run dungeons than solo quest.
Are the servers down right now?
I felt like that with my Champ, and I hear Beastmaster feels the same. I think they just made the mobs tougher, and the regen (if you don't have some kind of heal) is painfully slow; at least it was in B5 and B6.
Edit: Kuya, I don't know if they're down, but about an hour ago they were sluggish as shit and jumping, so I just logged out to do some TF2 with the boys.
Double Edit; I fucking love Necromancer. Emtpy the Crypts is hilarious and scares the fuck out of people in PVP. Seeing a mini army of undead rushing at you, plus an undead mage casting at you from afar, plus watching your top right corner of the screen suddenly get filled with dots never gets old... for the one directing the show. :3
I've been playing Saboteur with silent setup, so I can plant my 5 charges on the mob before aggroing them. Then detonate and the mobs usually close to dead by then, just takes a couple more charges plus detonate and they're dead before they even get to me. I have bard subbed as well for the Motif of Regeneration HoT so I can survive through adds.
^ If you don't PVP yet, you should start. Sabs still rape face for everyone that isn't a healer constantly purging debuffs. I got rocked with a 1.8k crit blast charge last night, and its even more scary seeing the stacks line up, knowing there isn't shit you can do to stop it.
