I stated a few times that anything short of Aions character creator is a step back for an MMO coming out in 2011. It's my main gripe with Rift.

It's all about Eve's new character creator now.
OH my, wth about the hair options....
Ald, I thought you were ungay but maybe metrosexual?
I'm confident enough in my heterosexuality to point out girly stuff. I've never played a female before but i may roll one as an alt and i like em sexy.
O.o
I agree with the Aion character customization being the standard by now. I agree with everything except for the complete height/head size customization. Rift beta customization seems pretty terrible.
i think an extremely robust character creation system is a very careless use of resources when making an MMO. I saw nothing wrong with what Rift had and whether they add more stuff for launch or not, there are FAR more important aspects of a game to worry about than how a face you're never going to see looks.
Thats because the character graphics and animations make up for it.
i'm not gonna say a good character creator wouldn't be appreciated, but it is a very frivolous thing to have. I'm not gonna be more attached to my character because it has more polygons.
Since I last posted, I did like 5 small-man rifts where I bumped into 4 different people with the same model/hair as me, only slightly different in color. While it's not FFXI bad, it's still not good. Aesthetic touches aren't a bad thing and, quite frankly, the creator will be the first thing that gives people an impression of the game after the intro sequence. Some will be saddened by the step backward, and I guess I can't see why they would have refrained from the full gamut of creation options short of minor tweaks in some of them.
A character creator by itself is really trivial. But I think a lot of people want to be unique in their character looks. Whether that is the result of the way you first create you character or how you dress yourself as you level doesn't really matter. Rift's problem is that their character creator is pretty much standard and not really innovative and then adding on to that visual is the fact that there are very few options within a class for your armor. I really like the ability to have social outfits as you can in LoTRO. Seriously that is the only thing I like about that game. And is the only thing i spent points on in the cash shop. I like to pimp my ride and my armor. Rift needs to improve this aspect of their game.
Yeah, I know I only got to level 23, but the armor looks weren't very impressive. :/
Actually i had just the opposite experience in IT 3x today. Half the time if we werent fighting the bosses/anubis like mobs, i wouldn't even have to use "healing" abilities cause my resiration and salvation with rightous mandate did my healing for me. i've never really been one to heal, mostly like dps classes....so justicar is awsome if it keeps being like this later on. I occasionally had some trouble keeping people up when i was lower level, but once i leveled up it got better. Raids are gonna be really fun as a justicar i'm sure, healing 10 pelople at a time for 25% of my damage (50% on tank/focus target =)) plus lotsa aoe healing lol.
Get higher. The Kings Breach plate armor looks wonderful. I like how the game transitions (especially for Warriors and Clerics) from simple chain and curiass to ornate hauberks and full plate mail. I also like the attention to detail on the full plate; the armor looks worn and tarnished, even when you can see that it offers much protection. I always disliked how something that physically dropped off of a monster or a boss (for example, a family set of armor dropping off of an undead member of said family) always looked clean and pristine. You have to figure that the armor isn't brand new; it hasn't been hand-crafted in a shop earlier that week, so it shouldn't look sparkling and new. Rift, to me, treads that fine line between having armor look too basic and having it look too far out, while not looking so spit-shined that it looks fake.
Just created a character and i was reminded of the fact that your facial hair is always a static colour and does not change with your hair colour (except certain types of facial hair). Neither do your eyebrows for that matter.
Probably had something to do with me not having any actual DPS gear. I was in pure healer gear. And of course my tank is an experience tank and would be charging into the next group before we finish the first group, over and over. So there was no rest, and he took more damage than normal because he'd always have extra mobs on him.
