my weekend has been somewhat low key because i had extensive dental work done this week. in fact, i actually have to make a legal appointment on monday. several years ago, i had some teeth extracted to make room for my wisdom teeth. why they did that instead of removing the wisdom teeth, i can't say. regardless, one of my wisdom teeth grew in at an angle, creating a pocket under my gumline. i didn't know about this pocket and couldn't reach it via any means, even flossing. don't you think they should have perhaps mentioned that? it's not like they're completely unaware that the tooth may grow in at an angle. they should have at least warned me to watch for that. i mean really.
fast forward several years, and that pocket has basically become a bacteria paradise. my angled wisdom tooth gets a cavity, but it's on the bottom of the angled portion (and below the gumline), so i can't see it. it's also directly touching the tooth in front of it, and this cavity spreads. did you know they could do that? they can! so one day i'm eating a mentos and i break a tooth. when i go to the dentist, he does some x-rays and determines that the tooth in front of the angled wisdom tooth needs a root canal, and on top of that i need to have some of my gums removed to get at the decay going on below the gumline. also to expose the aforementioned pocket so that i can actually brush/floss/mouthwash the area.
it's been fucking horrible.
