Well lets put it this way... If nav/dvd player affects the price than I don't want it but if its just there then its fine but I won't use it.

    Nice camry?

Both will affect the price, you get what you pay for basically. If you're 100% sure that you are never going to want to watch DVD's, music videos, etc etc etc then I would go with the 7200 seanr linked to.

I eventually want to put something like a turbo in my car but I'm also unsure where to start on that.

you have a 'real' tuner car compared to my camry, so turbo kits and the like are dog shit easy to find for your car.
I don't know about Turbo Kits... kits, but that was the first thing i found. Lemme look around some more

I noticed that I also erased the S from the url and it popped up a kit. Just sayin though since you linked me to the GTS.

Really sorry to bump this, but this topic is the reason for me wanting to start up on my Scion xB (lol), and you guys seem to know what the fuck.

I've decided I'm going to mount my subwoofers under both the driver and passenger seats because I want to keep what little "trunk" space the xB has and I'm going to be going to school in a pretty shitty area by the end of either this year or beginning of next, and I'd like to at least have the comfort of knowing my subs aren't in immediate sight. What are your opinions of shallow mounted subs, are they any different in quality overall compared to "regular sized" subs?

I'm looking to put a 10" under each seat, face down to the floor of the car rather than upwards towards the seat. Good idea or no?

Keeping this in mind, I'd like to replace all the speakers first, I'm just looking into the future a bit so I know what to do when I want to do it.

Shallow mount subs aren't going to get as loud or as low as their regular counterparts, but they're useful if you really want them in tight spaces. If you decide to put them under the seats, i'd at least suggest that you mount them facing up, you don't want to face them down and risk the surround or cone hitting the floor and ruining the sub.

Have you looked into mounting them under the rear seats? I know a guy that owned a Titan (now has a pathfinder) and he had a box made to fit under the rear seats for 2 regular 10's and it sounded pretty good.

This is one of his boxes with the subs facing up:

And this is the box he had with the subs facing forward:

Not sure how much clearance you would have under the rear seats, never really ridden in an xb.

Do you have a vanity cover in the back? Honestly a pair of 8's or 10's in the right box will sound damn good. Also I don't know the layout of the trunk but I know another guy that had 4 8's put in the little cargo area some car's have.

Sorry I've been trying to find a good pic but idk where he has the full size pics posted, only a tiny one in his sig.

Unfortunately there's no room under the rear seats otherwise I would've went with that to begin with, but I could do it like the picture you're showing with shallow mounts (there's probably only that much space, and it'd stick out from under the seat quite a bit most likely), but then I run the risk of backseat passengers slamming their heels into them (grill or not) since more often than not, if there's more than one person in my backseat, it's because they're drunk.

There used to be a custom enclosure made specifically for the first gen xB that replaced the spare tire area I believe, but they're discontinued and I haven't been able to find one at all.

As far as shallow mounts, I didn't expect them to hit as hard and honestly, I've been there done that. I also have a Honda Prelude that's an abandoned work in progress, was at one point going to be a show car, it had four tens that replaced the backseat and eventually was going to be encased in fiberglass molding to match the car, etc., so I'm kind of over the big sound right now, but who knows once I actually get the subs, I'll probably get the itch for more lol.

I don't know the dimensions of my trunk, but there's enough room to either do something really extravagant or just be a box in the back, both of which I don't really want to do if I can put them elsewhere.

There's actually a lot of space in the trunk but I don't want to sacrifice the space, but now that I'm thinking about it, if I just had a carpeted, very unassuming box pushed straight against the back of the backseats like that fourth small picture, I don't think I could get a good enough angle from the outside to even see it. I'm more worried about break ins than I am losing my trunk space to be honest.

What you could do is make a "false floor" type of thing. Make the box as wide and long as possible, using only the minimum depth for the subs (have them facing up). Drop that into a carpeted false floor and carpet the box as well, you'd have 1, 2, 4, whatever amount of subs that look like they're just mounted to the floor. Keep a couple shirts or towels or whatever in the back and nobody will ever notice them.

Actually, I really, really like that idea. Thanks bud, I'm gonna start looking into doing something like that. I don't mind losing a bit of vertical space in my trunk, especially if I plan on using shallow mounted subs anyway, which I do.

Also, sound deadening materials, which is best, or should I say probably be best in my situation? I know it's hard to say without hearing it, but do you think I'd have to apply it all over my car or could I just get away with applying it to the hatch area? I don't want any rattle whatsoever.

Second Skin Audio Damplifier (Regular, Pro). I have about $1000 worth of their Pro in my Envoy (came out to just about 200 ft^2) and it was enough for me to do 3 layers on my roof, 1 layer on the whole floor, 1 extra layer on the trunk floor, 4-5ish layers on the trunk lid (there was a lot of shit back there so I kind of just put a lot of small patches over and over) and all 4 doors with 1-2 layers and I still have 15 sheets left.

I would say order maybe their I think it's a bulk pack which is close to 40 ft^2, should be around 22 sheets. Put 1 layer on the floor of your trunk, 1 layer on the trunk lid, and then try it out and see if you have any rattles. If you do go back and fix those problem areas with the extra sheets you have. Make sure to buy the roller from them (or if you can find a wooden hand roller with a decent sized roller, the one they sell is pretty fucking tiny) and buy some denatured alcohol to wipe down the sheet metal and clean it so it will adhere well.

Pics indeed, I love me some pioneer decks. I've only messed with the 7200 in a shop and my AVH 4200 in my car.
