I've been thinking about getting a WRX myself. I've been thinking about it for years, but decided to get a more "practical" car since I do a lot of driving for work. I just don't want to end up with something fun when I'm 50 and everyone saying I'm having a midlife crisis. Not to mention I'd like to be able to actually drive in the snow rather than slide around in something stupid.

I'd like to hear what you think about it after you've had it for a while. My lease isn't up for another 6 months, so I have some time to decide what I'm doing. I was thinking of getting a used 2011+ one though. There are a few for sale near me in good condition with 20,000 miles or less.

    Just get one!

Had my '09 WRX since they were released, and i'm going to drive this thing into the ground as I can't picture myself trading it in for anything else.

I got a call from Ford last night offering to buy me out of my lease... It may come sooner than I expected.

I've been looking at this one.

2011, 23,000 miles asking 22.5k for it. They're a luxury car lot and I have a feeling they just want to get rid of it, but it has nice features. Navi, Back-up cam, and then all the other normal stuff (SAT radio ready, heated seats, etc.).

FYI, I'm paying 29.5k for my 2014 with 0 miles on it, no Nav system, (which is needed for the Satellite radio), but everything else, and a SPT catback exhaust. One with the nav system (and sat radio) go for ~31.x new. 22k seems a bit high, I'd try to work them down to 20k or less, but I don't like the idea of buying a used performance car. You never know what the previous owner did with it.

That car does look really nice, though, especially the wheels.

You got the Premium model with the added exhaust, correct?

I certainly wouldn't buy it for 22.5k. I have yet to drive out to this one, as I thought I was looking at 6 months before buying, but I may go take a look. This weekend I think I'm going to stop by the Ford dealer and get the details of the buyback and then check in with the Subaru dealer down the street and see what the have to offer.

I like the one I posted above, but as you said who knows what the previous owner did with it. I could afford to get a new one, I would just rather save a bit more money. On the other hand, when am I going to be able to spend money if I can't spend it when I'm 25?

This is what I've been arguing in my head almost every day for the past 2 years. My browser history is pretty much filled with searches for WRX in the area and dealer websites.

Yeah, that price is a bit ambitious.

Here's a post I made about my car, I'd rather not type it again.

The one I originally ordered was a WRX Limited (not premium, base > premium > limited) 5-door in WRBlue and a short-throw shifter. KerfuffleFest 2013 happened, and I ended up finding the car I'm getting tomorrow (SQUEEEEEEEE!!!! :D ) which has the SPT (Subaru's in-house aftermarket) cat-back exhaust already installed. I didn't pick it for mine, but since it had it already, I'm ok with it being on there. Dealer said that he's going to try to get me a short throw shifter in there before I pick it up tomorrow, too, if not, I'll get one later. Also, the one I'm getting is ~$500 cheaper than the one I was quoted originally, so moar happys!

Wow that whole thing sucks, but at least it works out in the end. The dealership I've dealt with has their last batch of '13s in transit so I figure I should take a look. They have a Limited and a Premium, both Dark Gray Metallic, which I like more than the silver, however they do not say what options they have on the dealer website. I'd like to get the short-throw as well, but could care less about the SPT exhaust to be honest. I would like the satellite radio, however, as it's great for the long trips to the GF's parents' and up to Vermont where I lose 3/4G for Google Music.

Sorry, I definitely shifted focus from your awesome new car to my indecisiveness. I expect some fashion shots immediately upon getting it home.

The dealer's site should have installed options, and the short throw shifter is a dealer-installed option, so they should be able to put one on, if you ask for it.

Today is dragging ass, feels like I've been at work for ~10 hours, and it's only been 3.5... Then a drive from Detroit to Chicago tonight, then Chicago to Milwaukee tomorrow to pick it up. HURRY THE FUCK UP, DAY!!!

Sounds like a long drive back. Hopefully it will be traffic free to enjoy the ride.

I'm really quite pleased so far. Of course, I had such a drastic upgrade, it'd be impossible not to be happy. They didn't have any manual transmission CCs at the time, but did have a manual Jetta TDI I nearly went with instead. Ultimately, I think I realized I wanted a manual transmission mostly out of nostalgia and that I could do without for now. My left leg gets really angsty sometimes with nothing to do, and I think I will still want a manual for maybe some future weekend car when funds allow, but having a cozy sedan is perfect for my current driving needs. I took a nice trip shortly after purchasing - good to be able to break in a new engine with some higher rpm highway driving - and put 2500 miles or so on it in the first 10 days. Sadly, I'll have to say goodbye to it for 6-7 weeks or so, which will help keep the mileage pretty low overall. I know I'll be longing to drive it again when I return to the US again next.

I ended up paying 24.5k for my '09 WRB WRX when they first came out, all the added stuff (exhaust, navi, down pipe) came well after the warranty was gone lol

That was my plan for the car, get the toys after it was paid off, like I did on my SRT-4 and the coilovers, but since the exhaust was already there... xD

(That and it's harder for the wife to argue against if it's already installed!!)

    Spoiler: show

Already have ~150 miles on it, and have a drive from Chicago to Detroit tomorrow. It sounds fucking amazing. I still don't really know how good the stereo is, just had the windows down listening to the car purr... :D

Nice. Always wanted a WRX myself, but it's kinda suicidal with my roads. Ate my Celica GTS TRD alive lol.
