It was literally BRAND new when we were looking though, and I did not want to buy in for the first model year. That's the only reason we ended up with the Rogue.
I work for a construction company, so my trunk consisted of hard hats, rubber concrete boots, tools and winter clothing. I had to put bags of sand in as well for the weight. I had all season tires, and did not like the price of winter tires, which ultimately led me to trading in the car with a little bit of negative equity.

I could fit my gym bag, but there was no where to hang suits or dress shirts. If I put shit in the back seat, I needed to rip it out from the driver's seat or slide the seat up and bend over to pull shit out. Ultimately, everything was possible --- just extremely uncomfortable. When my car got stuck in slush (literally could see the pavement) and I had to push my car up a very small hill for an hour... I knew I was done. I just didn't care what car I had anymore, whether it was a 1999 Explorer or a 2014 Crosstrek.

My buddy just got a BRZ and another friend has an FRS. Can't seem to justify why anyone would want one unless you've got money to just kinda spend. But the FRS has some rocket bunny kit on it and the damn thing looks like a race car.

I liked it for about a month. My complex has speed bumps every 20 yards, so leaving at 5:30AM was like.. BOOM.... BOOM.... BOOM.... fuck off.

Picked up this 2013 Ford Focus ST back in December:

Fun car. Not bad in the snow (with the all season tires I made sure to get since it came with summer tires). It actually has a good amount of trunk space, and a lot more space if needed with putting the back seats down.

Good looking car! Like my speed3 it'll take mods really well too should you get the bug for more power. Going to install a turbo-back exhaust this weekend, I'm pumped!

Just ordered a Cobb accessport and intake. Takes me back to my younger years with my Mitsu Eclipse GS-T. So much done to that. I probably won't do anything like that to this car though (turbo swap, etc.), but still very fun adding little things.

You might want to make sure that the intake and a more aggressive tune doesn't require upgraded fuel pump internals. Again the engines are similar but not the same, but one thing that the newer speed3s suffer from is a significant dip in fuel pressure caused by just upgrading the intake. Mazdaspeedforums.org has a focus ST section and they pretty much know everything there is to know about the MZR platform. Plus the vendors there are great and you can find pretty much any part you need.

Thanks for he tip. I follow focusst.org, and it seems that the stock fuel pump is good for a while. I'll check out the site you mentioned though.

Not sure where to post this, but here goes.

Driving home from skiing yesterday in my '08 WRX I was cruising at about 80mph, let up on the accelerator to drop down to about 65. At around 70mph I hear a medium/high whining noise. Ease off completely of the gas and hit around 60mph, only to notice that when I do give it gas the I hear a buzz/whine with no response showing in acceleration/RPM. Pulled over, checked oil level, it was fine (just changed my plugs/timing/oil maybe 1k miles past). Car seems to be running fine again, drive maybe another 3 miles, same thing happens with the noise/lack of response.

No engine light came on until I said fuck it and pulled over into a park and ride. Going to run the codes when I can, but figured I'd see if anyone had thoughts.

So you did throw codes, or you didn't? It's notoriously hard to diagnose a vehicle issue with just a noise. Keep in mind your Engine light only has to do with emissions related issues.

If you didn't throw a code, check your power steering fluid and make sure it's in between the "Cold Min - Hot Max" Levels.

If it did throw a code, have that read and report back here and we might be able to track it down.

I pulled off the road once the CEL came on and just left it there in the lot. Going back once I can get something to read the codes. Just wasn't sure if anyone has experienced that before and would recognize it.

kinda sounds like this... but not sure if that's it. I'll get back here once I get the codes I guess.

Well please do not do the same shit those idiots did and rev the car like that right after turning it on lol. Was the code flashing or solid?

Autozone/Advance will have a reader for about $25-$30, looks just like this one:

    http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/i/spin/ima...sm=0.9,0.5,0,0

Shouldn't need anything more than that to read the code, and clear it if necessary.

Maybe one of your charge pipes (one to the intercooler or from the intercooler to the throttle body) is loose?

To get the code pulled, if you have an autozone nearby, they can do that for you.

yeah, I didn't want to drive it to the autozone and I was about 30 miles from home so I just pulled into the carpool lot and left it there. I'm going to pick one of those code readers and see what the deal is today or tomorrow.

If it wasn't cracked, yes absolutely. A crack can be fixed but it won't look the same and in the end it can compromise the safety of the tire itself. It sucks but you're probably going to need a new one.

I'm looking for something fun to drive under 30k that gets decent enough gas mileage for driving back and fourth to school (45-60 minutes of Highway).

I've been looking at a lot of stuff including the wrx brz minis kias mazdaspeed focus and vw tdi and gti.

    Probably will lease.

    Any snow where you live?

If so, I'd say get a wrx or a evo. That way you can have a blast driving it no matter the season!
