700 mile cap on a year would be tough

It's by desire not by force lol. Both of these guys have a few cars, the ones in the picture are just the best of their line ups lol.

-VR4 Owner has the VR4, a S14 240SX in original OEM Plum paint that they apparently only made like 100 of, and a piece of shit beater he daily drives.

-Supra Owner has the Supra, an MKII MR2 Turbo, and a Supercharged Older civic that he dailies.

I'd be one to drive the shit out of the cars too if I had them, but realistically there is only so much time to drive lol. The higher end cars are basically weekend toys for car shows.


Once the miata is Supercharged it will be a nice day/weekend toy as well. I'm looking at getting a Focus ST or maybe the 2015 WRX as a daily when that comes around.

Nice pic of someone else's car in a garage. I kid I kid... fast car both in a straight line and on track but it doesn't have any soul. I also don't like how every generation they keep getting bigger and bigger but that seems to be a la mode with everything these days.

Whoever says it doesn't have a soul ... has not driven one. If you get in a car like this and try to think that it's going to drive itself, you'll be wrapping it around a tree very quick.

I've driven a GTR stock and modded. The modded one Dyno'd at 850 Horse about a week before I got to drive it. Upgraded turbos/Ecutek Tune/exhaust, not sure what else. All I know is the entire exhaust was titanium and cost around $8k -_-. It was incredibly fast, and incredibly fun. It is a very easy car to drive though. At a drag strip, which is where the majority of these cars get their use, they are basically point/shoot with that Launch Control though. That being said it's still faster than cars twice its price, and that is nothing to take for granted.

I still love them, and would still buy one. At $60,000ish for a used one with low milage..... they are falling into my price bracket lol.

I would stay away from GTRs that are 60k. It's most likely a 2009 with absolutely no factory warranty and a crap load of miles. If you have $15k to spend on a new transmission then by all means go for it but I would look at other cars if that was my budget. Anything used 2012+ is going to run you 70-80k.

Just an FYI, not trying to sound high and mighty but maintenance is a bit more compared to other cars. $200 dollar oil changes, $2,000 tires, OEM rotors/pads are another $4,000, half that if you go aftermarket and so forth. Also, these things are considered exotics to insurance companies so it may cost you a bit.

I believe the transmission fluid they tell you to use is ~$100 a quart

Oh I'm well aware of the maintenance costs and procedures.

-Engine Oil 6 Quarts at $10-12/QT
-Trans is 8L although buying 10L saves quite a bit of money. $400-$1000 depending on what brand you use. OEM is $55/L and you need 10.
-Diff oil is 3 Quarts. $40/qt
-Trans Gasket and misc washers/hardware is $50

Trans/Diff changes every 36K unless the car is beaten on. If it's tracked you basically swap those fluids after the track day, if trans gets above 120 Degrees the trans and diff need to be swapped right away. Most track cars have upgraded DCT Cooler which extends the life of the fluids by a ton. Trans/Diff can be done annually, oil every 3K if the temp is kept below 130 Degrees.

So $640ish doing everything yourself. Dealerships charge $1,400 + just for the Trans/Diff Swap. I've done fluid changes for a couple friends that didn't want to pay dealership pricing lol.

Trans isn't a huge issue as I'd be looking for a low mileage vehicle, and it's extremely easy to diagnose transmission issues/problems.

It's expensive compared to "regular" cars, but it's not really all that bad considering the price you'd pay for similar service on a Porsche Carrera, Audi R8, Lambo, Ferrari, etc.


I do all my own maintenance and installs, so that brings the cost down significantly. I'd more than likely put roughly 5K Miles/year on the car at the most if I picked it up. I'm a long way out from purchasing it though, more of an "attainable dream" so to speak lol. Not to sure I want to actually attain said dream yet.

I normally like hatchbacks, but I just do not like the rear end on it. I'd go for the sedan for sure. I was disappointed when I heard rumors about a year ago that they were going to put a twin turbo v6 in the 3rd gen's and nerf it down to 440 hp. The LT4 is the perfect natural progression.

gtr transmission temp is closer to 180-190 during normal operation, 240+ during track.

Picked up a daily this weekend. 100k mile 07 Suzuki Reno slight coolant leak. $750ish. My Aunt is selling it, still going to toss it on my buddies lift and see what we are dealing with.

Not a bad fucking car for 750 lol. I picked up a 99 Mazda Protégé for 700 with like 180k miles as a daily for 2 months, ended up giving it to my lil brother as his first car.

I picked up a 94' Honda Civic 3 months ago for my 80 mile round trip to commute with 225k miles for 1k, new tires/brakes. Shit gets 45MPG and runs like a champion. Now I can focus more on modding my WRX for the 2 days a week I take it out.
