Spark and the Leaf SV (after 3500 finance incentive) are the same price, 26xxx.

Drove a Leaf SL today...and really liked it. Decent power with "eco" turned off, quiet, and the leather seats were quite nice. Going to check out the Mercedes B-class and GLA250 tomorrow but I doubt they will sway me.

Truecar.com fucking rules. Picking up a 2015 black Nissan Leaf SL (highest trim, nav and leather) tomorrow for $29,983. MSRP is $35,970. Other than the test drive (at a different dealer), did it all online and on the phone. At tax time I'll get $7500 off my federal taxes and $2500 off my California state taxes.

Can you get any other car in the US for under 20k with leather and nav?

There was some truecar chatter a while ago, but it's really the way to go. Going to multiple dealerships in person to start from scratch is such a waste of life.

I've always been a big fan, but just to use their numbers so i knew what to shoot for. This time, I used their "lock in a price" tool, and had multiple dealers trying to one up each other to get this car as cheap as possible. I didn't think I could get under 31k - getting under 30k is just sick, especially this early in the 2015 model year.

I'm kinda in the market for a new car but without my own place it would be hard to go for EV. Have you already got your place set up for it? I know you wanted the Model S for a while.

I ordered a Bosch 30 amp charging station on Amazon for $600 yesterday, which will be fully refunded by LADWP through their EV program. Need to get quotes to get it installed when it arrives. In the meantime I'm just "trickle" charging with a normal 110v outlet. That's enough to recharge my 12 mile round trip commute overnight but not really a good long term solution.

Without a dedicated place to charge at 220v / 30 amps, it's hard to make it work. Some people have charging at work and just trickle charge at home, but that's pretty rare. In California, landlords/HOAs are required to allow renters/condo owners to install an EV charging station (at the renter's expense) but even then it's a tough situation unless you plan on staying in that apartment for years and years. If that is your situation it wouldn't hurt to inquire, although they may make you install a sub meter / panel so that the electricity used is coming from your electric bill, not the building's - which would cost at least a couple grand to install.

What's the range on a Leaf assuming a full charge and you are not driving like you are on a Nascar track?

EPA says 84 miles. At 55 on the freeway in ideal conditions it can get over 100, but I rarely drive even 30 miles in a day nowadays.

Never realized how narrow my Sentra was til I wanted to replace it. I would've gotten a Fusion Energi but again, too wide. (it would fit ok but the space between my car and my wife's would be uncomfortably narrow.)

I restricted my search to vehicles 80" wide including mirrors or less.

So I bought a 97' Honda Civic from a friend so I didn't have to drive my Subaru to and from work and put on empty miles. I've made my WRX into a weekend drive and it's paying dividends, allowing me to save money on gas, keep miles off my car and I can work on it without worrying about finishing the project. Well today I decided to bring my WRX to work because I felt like spoiling myself with a nice ride. Driving down 91N in MA at 5:30AM and what do I see dart in front of me? A fox. I'll save you all the gory details, but I CRUSHED that fox so hard. If the fox was aiming for the middle of my bumper, it gets a 10/10 in the fox Olympics. I hit that furry fiend and I knew, I knew my bumper was done for. I get to work and my bumper is cracked and my whole undercarriage plastic is dangling. Now I get to pay, yet again for a new bumper, because mother nature has a cruel sense of humor. SO INFURIATING.
