From a maintenance perspective, off of your list the only two I would choose would be either (preferable)Nissan or Honda. And Sebrings are just the fucking worst. You have to take the tire off just to get to the battery.

Traded in my 2009 Elantra Touring for a 2016 Mazda 6 over the weekend. Blue Reflex, 6MT.



The reviewers are spot on...it's easily the nicest interior I've seen under 30k. Handles well, nice firm ride without being jarring over shitty roads, great car for the $. Needs 30-40hp more to be properly fun, but for a daily commuter I really can't complain. Got to play a bit on back roads on the way to work, when the wife and kids weren't in the care to squeal in terror. The manual lets you wring a surprising amount of fun out of a 185hp 4 door.

Dealer didn't have one on the lot to test, and I wanted a sedan this time around anyway, but I expect the 2016 3 5 door with the same engine/MT would be quite fun as well. 327lb less mass to haul with the same drivetrain would be a little more fun.

I didnt have any major issues with my 2002 Golf but the passenger window did go one before i purchased it. Shame to hear the electric issues are worse now. Guess ill be a bit wary of VW for now.

Thats a shame to hear. I was quite liking the look and the interior offerings on some of the 2006 / 2007 Sebrings.... Guess ill keep looking. Maybe ill narrow down soem Nissan / Honda options if they are a good reliable brand!

Yeah, I wouldn't pick a used Dodge/Chrysler either. I had a 2000 Intrepid R/T up to around 90K miles...by 45K the annoying little squeaks and rattles had set in and the general quality of the build (or lack thereof) was showing its true nature. The newer stuff is much better but I would shy away from the time frame of used cars you're looking at in your post.

I was looking at a couple used Golf R's but shyed away from them myself due to maintenance concerns echoed by others here.

My wife's 2007 Honda Odyssey on the other hand has been utterly solid from day one through 100K today. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a used Honda. A lot of them are fairly dull on the styling front but they're reliable as hell.

Iv been looking at the Hondas and they arent too bad but they are just older cars... Its the only thing bothering me. Id have to settle on a 2005 or if im lucky a 2006 for my budget in the sedan style we want. Im starting to lean towards the Ford Fusion. I can pick up a nice model with some extras in a 2007 or 2008 model. Trouble is just that old age debate. Do you go with a car of higher spec / nicer design but has higher mileage or do you go with the older car / less features but less miles.

Sold my Cobra when I bought a house last summer. Killed me as I had the car for 10 years and loved it to death. Finally had the opportunity in March to replace it with something new. Looked at Shelbys and Cobras but finally settled on a 2015 Mustang GT with Performance Package. Something I never thought I would do until I checked them out in person and took a test drive. The revised interior is beautiful and the car drives great. No regrets.

Thanks guys. This is my first new car and although that first year of depreciation is a bitch I tend to keep my cars a long time. Had some apprehension buying the first new model year but hopefully things will be ok. People tried to talk me out of getting the 6 speed manual since we moved to Houston, but I wasn't having any part of that. The auto is ok with the flappy paddle shifters but in the end I couldn't do it and had to have another manual. Seriously impressed by the interior and since this is my daily driver that is probably what sold me the most.

I don't know about most people but I put 20% down and am doing the payment thing. I am not ballin' enough to pay cash like some people out there but I am comfortable with the payment.

I haven't met many people that have purchased their vehicle outright, unless it was an old beater less than $3k.
