They had me do most of the stuff in an x4 just like the one I got but we did the wet skid pad stuff in an M4 I think- That was insane! the guy kept yelling faster faster faster and then floor the gas, spun a full 360 while slamming on the brakes lol

Best part was on the twist/turns part he yelled on the radios for everyone to stop so I looked back and I see this dude jumping out of the car his wife was driving projectile vomiting and staggering around

Thinking of trading in my 2015 WRX for a 2015/2016 Mazda 3 hatch or Mazda 6. I cannot get the most of my rex since there's really no twisty roads or tracks, and I'm getting sick of putting 93 in my car every fill up. From everything I have read about the 3 and 6 is that they're athletic, get great MPG, and the 3 hatch would offer more cargo space, and the 6 is a bit bigger (obviously).

Can anyone recommend a better option that is athletic, price conscious, gets great to good MPG, and offers some sort of utility over the WRX?

    Thanks!

You're probably going to lose money on that trade, right? It seems a bit silly to lose money and nearly 100hp to trade what is essentially a new car for another new car. You'll save maybe $800-1,000 on gas a year between a Mazda 3 compared to the WRX, but are you sure you won't miss the power?

To answer your question, the GTI is generally the most refined option of the hot hatches. Definitely can't go wrong with the Mazda 3, though.

I heard the speed 3 has some weird pulling problems on the passenger front tire and because of that really lacks in the performance and handling kind of realm. On top of the fact that it's not AWD. If you wanted a hatch why didn't you just pick up a wrx hatchback? The 2015 is super sleek but I really like the exterior of the 2012-14 models more. And you can get a hatch. Idk.

I know people with 3's that love them, but don't know a single person that would prefer it over the wrx. The power and AWD is a huge upgrade - and when you're looking at 3's as mentioned the GTI is a great option.

Where I live I'd want the AWD option and if changing would need to look at the bmw/audi options in that price range (I think they offer it).

I've owned two speed 3s so far. My 08 had a big turbo and I now own an 11.

In terms of performance it's a real bang for your buck car. Bolt on mods are relatively inexpensive and with a couple of mods you'll crack 315 tq with a tune.

It's a raw car and certainly not refined. It'll rip the steering wheel out of your hand if your not paying attention, but that's part of the appeal. With an ethanol time you'll make over 300 hp and 330 tq. They are solid cars that can take abuse. They do not tend to have any major mechanical flaws, just torque steer.

I think all the bmw xseries are awd, I'm extremely satisfied with the x4 so far
The stock x5 I drove on their off-road track was very impressive too for what it was lol 3 wheel flexin and driving through an 18in deep moat

Taxes/title/fees + depreciation hit on new cars buys a lot of gas though. If you really put on that many miles; Id assume you would have gone for better gas/diesel economy/business expense from the get go.

I thought the '15 WRX were fairly efficient since they are based on the FA20 with direct injection? Maybe stay out of boost and granny it while driving? BUT if you want to trade it in... why not a GTI or a Golf R? Though I think the new Mazda 3 hatchbacks are pretty cool.

I should have added some more of my preferences for wanting to change. I don't like the cheap interior of the wrx, the cheap, thin, easy to chip paint, and I don't get to use it to its full potential.

As far as MPG goes, I've averaged as high as 38 on highway heavy road trips, and average around 29 overall. When I'm pushing it I only get around 20 though.

I haven't looked too much at the gti; I'm just looking for more usable space without sacrificing too egregiously on performance. Also, I shouldn't lose anything on my tradein. I've been offered more than I owe on it

Not sure how formal those trade-in offers are, but I wouldn't trust them. Most dealers will bait you with very generous offers to get you shopping, only to withdraw it at the last minute, due to made up issues that come up.

And I'm not sure either the Mazda 3 or the GTI would be much of an upgrade. They're both at or near the top in terms of interior quality, but for their class, it's honestly not saying much. Nearly all automakers are cheaping out on interiors these days.

Yeah, that's why I'm hesitant on it. I don't care as much for the performance. Honestly it would need to be tuned to be great. That's why I don't mind stepping down in performance. I used to be a car salesman quite awhile ago, so I'm familiar with the whole bait and switch. Worst comes to worse I'll private party sell and buy another vehicle if I make up my mind

    Bumping this thread cause yeah.

I'm being offered two cars by family. The stipulation is we stay under 100k between the both of them. Before being told of the offer I was looking into SUVs for my gf, and wanted to stay under 20k. To be honest, I don't even want to spend over 80k, but they're insisting. So I ask you BG, if some one was literally throwing money at you requesting you spend it on two cars, what would you get? I'm trying to be humble and frugal, but that's hard with such a budget.

The gf wants a SUV of some kind, and I'd like to stick to a sports sedan of some kind. I currently drive an 03 gs300 and she's driving a Hyundai accent. We'd be using the SUV for light towing (maybe a jet ski or two), and road trips. My car is for city driving or nights on the town.

    Thanks!

Obviously get a Tesla Model X 60D with Autopilot and the tow package, and then get some sensible sedan with the other 24k.

Considered it, but I don't see myself buying a house and upgrading the garage to make it worth it atm. Maybe for the next vehicle.

I've heard good things about the Mazda CX line. As far as sport sedan, I guess it depends on what you're really looking for out of it. Stick or manual? Sport look, or do you want it to have actual pick up? Turbo, or just a V-6, or are you looking to stay in the 4 cylinder lines?

I'll check out the CX, I know nothing about SUVs and the gf was leaning towards a Rogue only cause she sees so many on the road.

The sedan doesn't have to be crazy. Automatic, with power but doesn't have to be turbo. I'd like more power than I have now on my gs300, because I feel like I've kinda outgrown it.

If you really have to spend 100k, you should probably make the SUV a Volvo XC90. The 2017s are opulent and awesome, for like 52k.
