The Inflation Reduction Act changes the $7500 tax credit you get for buying a PHEV, so that the vehicles that qualify need a certain % of domestic assembly...and the Volvo doesn't qualify because it's made in Sweden. So instead of buying the car for her in September, I need to do it before the IRA is signed into law...this weekend.
I've identified the vehicle I want to buy, I'm trying to arrange to pick it up Wednesday morning. The dealer won't hold it on the lot for 7 weeks for me because of obvious liability.
Do I do the psycho thing of just parking it on a street nearby for 7 weeks so I can surprise her on the anniversary date, or should I come clean so we can use the car earlier and I don't have to engage in all this fuckery?
