2009 Honda Fit Sport. Drove it off the lot right about a year ago, first brand new car I've ever owned. She's in need of a wash right now. Planning on tinting the windows sometime soon.

No trouble for me. I'd look into an '05+ over the '03-'04 though. Updated interior, small fixes here and there, better brakes. You may have to watch for oil consumption issues.
I got my '05 last April for about 18k.. had roughly 33k miles on it.
How did you not know Corrados were sold in the US? :/ There's a pretty loyal following for them among Dub lovers here.
Jesus Christ, that's ridiculous. If you had a VW I'd say you grossly over paid.
I bought FK Streetlines, great entry level coils. For 2600 I expect nothing less than a fantastic airride system. For VWs even an amazing set of coils runs you about 1400-1500, like PSS9's.
Also, the availablility and market of performance/aftermarket products for VWs is way bigger than the pool for Miata owners. I'd imagine that has something to do with the price as well.
And final note.... I'd kill to own an Exige... nomnomnom.
Ohlins are always expensive.. I know Ohlins for my car are around that range. I went with PSS10s which were about $1400.
If I end up getting a Miata for autox/track use, I'll probably stick to FCMs.. pretty manageable at under $1600 and very comparable, if not better, to Ohlins.

Former repo, low miles, dirt cheap, no complaints.

Flyin' Miata might possible have their new V-Maxx by that time. Those are fucking awesome for only $500~. The problem is they don't make them for the NC Chassi (06+).
They do have cheap ass ebay shit coilovers, I won't touch those things with a 10 ft pole though. I think they are by a company called Raceland.
Miatas are fucking amazing auto x vehicles. You will love it regardless of what year you choose.
I'll probably be looking for a '94-'95 R edition when I start looking. Otherwise, a '94-'95 would be preferred.
Racelands are a good way to slam something like a MkI or II Golf/Jetta. 250-300 bucks and you can be scraping bumpers. (But yea, theyre pieces of crap.)
EDIT: Just did some research on Ohlins, and they do look damn sexy. About 2700 for MkV Golf, which is the only VW app available at the moment. To be honest I think 2700 is way too much, and you can get very similar quality/results for a good deal cheaper.
All the ones I see have over 70-80k miles on them. I dunno if you clicked the link. But I really don't mind them having that much, I work on my own cars anywho.
I'll keep that in mind. I've loved them for a while, sexiest affordable car out there.
Finally remembered to take a pic of my car (spoilered for tables):
Spoiler: show
05 Scion TC which is most definitely not a car worth taking pictures of. A to B car, etc. I do enjoy cars though, but I spent my teen years crashing them, so I haven't bothered investing anything into the Scion so that I have no temptation to do stupid things at stupid times.
Once I'm finished with undergrad level, and if money is a bit more relaxed than it is now, I plan on picking up a 96'ish Nissan 300zx TT, rebuilding the engine, upgrading the suspension, and pushing it around 380hp. They're nothing beautiful but start to finish you end up with a Porsche-level horsepower, turbocharged, light as fuck car for about $7000-8000 (work included). Makes for an affordable "good times" car.
Actually was looking around autotrader out of boredom a bit ago and came across a 95' Toyota Supra with 600bhp on pump gas for around $35k. Wanted to put my dick in every open slot on that car. Maybe one day
Also, fuck Mustangs. As Jeremy Clarkson so aptly put it, "it's a fantastic car for people who look at their sisters and go 'mmm mmm mmmmmmm'".
Good luck with the ZX. I fucking love those cars.
Twin Turbos are so fucking hard to find though.
Supras are still pushing a premium price. The price on those things went through the roof when the first fast and the furious movie came out. They have never come down since then lol. Awesome car regardless, but I can't bring myself to pay that much for a 15 year old japanese import.
Cursory search a bit ago showed like 5 or 6 300zx TTs within 100 miles of me actually. Fuck yeah Massachusetts. 300s and 240s are all over the place here, what you can't find are 3000gts, but I think I grew out of my fondness for them.
And yeah, Supras are ridiculous, but rightfully so. The engines used in the Supra can sustain more horsepower than the door hinges can. Seriously, they're ferociously powerful (stock at 300ish? I know the block can take up to 800-850ish). Shame that as soon as you start to get up around 500hp in a Supra you just basically run a 99% chance of killing yourself every time you press on the gas.
Front engine with no diff / trac control and 500+hp going to the rear wheels is a bad combination, lol, especially in the northeast.
Edit: I will say, the one real big dilemma I have is between spending potential future money on a nicely handling powerful car that I can take out on the weekends provided I move somewhere that isn't MA, or spend those thousands on amps and speakers for the scion. I refuse to do subs because they're dumb as shit for what I listen to, but ideally I want a setup similar to what Harmon Kardon does for Lexus ($8000 option I believe). Some 12 or 16 speakers with different sets of speakers covering specific ranges (low, mid, high). Makes it so you don't have a whole range of sound trying to come out of one outlet. Makes everything beautifully crisp and clean. So temptingI have 4 75 watt infinity speakers and a 100w alpine but it really just isn't enough to be honest.
