    School credits

I failed every class of the first half of my 10th grade semester. In turn, I became home schooled and began taking a few classes online on the side to get caught back up. Since then I've finished my homeschooling courses, but I still am missing 2 credits to 'finish' high school. I'm taking 2 classes at a time, my last 2. There are 2 segments to each of these classes, and about 7-9 chapters overall. Each chapter has upwards of 9 sections, minimal of 7. Each section takes, at the very least, an hour to complete. Some can take upwards of 4 hours.

My reason for posting this is to ask a question. I'm almost done with the first 2 segments of the 2 classes, which means I have 6 to 7 chapters left in both of the courses. At this point, after having to take these nearly unbearable online courses for nearly 3 years, it's shit. The amount of work compared to going to a classroom and taking the courses is shit. I was homeschooled by a teacher at my school I went to. It was fairly easy, and I was convinced by him to start doing AP courses. The amount of work between an AP class and this online shit is completely abysmal.

This leads me to my question, finally. Considering how much is done and how much I have left to finish, what would you do out of the following - Stay the course for another few months and just get it done bearing the amount of work that needs to be done, or drop the courses and go back to the classroom and finish the 2 credits in a few months. Basically going to 2 classes a day for 5 days a week, such as normal schooling. What is currently planned is that if I go back to school, I will wait until next year and work full time before attending college. If I finish within the next few months, hopefully before classes are filled to the brim, I will attend NFU.

Before some shit head comes in with almighty sarcasm and tells me I should just toughen up - I know my stance on both scenarios, and what I should do. What I would like is opinions on both scenarios, and what you would do in this situation. Again, bearing in mind how shit online courses are, and how simple classroom courses are.

Play less video games, go to regular school imo, even if you just go for two classes. It'll help you get back into the mindset of sitting in a classroom, since you're going to college afterwards.

In all seriousness, Id just stay the course and finish the 2 classes and hopefully enroll in college this fall or w/e. First and foremost you need to be honest with yourself and find out if you learned anything from this because life doesn't give you endless mulligans. College is a whole different monster, but can separate you from living a really good life and/or playing mmo's in your moms basement for the rest of your life.

If you want it bad enough just keep doing what you're doing and hopefully everything works out. if youre skeptical in any fashion then take classroom work and enroll next year when you get the slackness out of your system.

Aiden's answer is probably the right one. Schooling is all about the mindset you go into it. It's basically the same as going to the gym. I wouldn't go to college off the bat if you havent been in a true classroom environment in a while, go back to school for the last 2 courses.

In the end though it's all about discipline, if you don't have it now you'll have it much harder later on. Whatever course you choose you need to make sure you stick it out for your own sake.

I'll assume everyone reading the OP has the notion I have had some type of silver spoon life. Everything has been incredibly up and down. If anything, the experience has made me more aware of real life, and in turn I would consider myself more equip to handle most situations.

I mean, all things considered, I moved out of my home town/state for the first time in my life, and move away from all my childhood friends/family. I start a new high school, and virtually a new life. I meet one person and he introduces me to his friends and their friends introduce me to their friends and so on. In turn, I go out every night. I skipped school nearly one fourth of the semester, and when I actually did go I was high on assorted teenage shithead methods of getting high. Didn't do my homework, didn't do my school work. I can only imagine what would've happened if my I had actually stayed in school.

Now's your one shot at redemption, there's nothing wrong with hanging friends but you gotta man the fuck up and learn to thumb down peer pressure. Good luck.

Nah I had no notion of you being spoiled. I was poor as hell growing up and no social life worth a shit (barely any friends I kept around as well), I still ended up getting my diploma through home schooling because of various reasons. My school offered me their diploma due to extenuating circumstances but all the same I dont associate slacking in school with having it made.

Get it done or end up like me "I'll do it next semester" for 7 years before finally getting my act together.

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. Screwing up your life gets away from you faster than anything else. If I could go back and trade everything I did during my high school years for nothing but pure, slavish, education-based work I would.

Seriously, without a doubt. There's a lot of life to live still at your age, but what you get to do with it becomes exponentially narrower and narrower depending on your choices. Suck it up, etc. I'm a rare case. Don't bet on being lucky enough to rebound like I have.

I would suggest doing the classroom classes too because you're going to have to get used to going out to school/work five days a week at some point very soon in your life.

You and everyone else in this thread have that in common You just have to have the mindset of not settling for middle of the road and make your mind up that you want to be something, the only person stopping you from doing it is you. I know I give you endless amounts of shit but im glad that you chose to not use that as a crutch and decided to better yourself.

Truest words in this thread. You are going to get tons of shit thrown your way, you just have to keep truckin. I was in your boat at one point, and went from down ass nigga to wanna be white boy all because I decided to go to college lol, you cant let that shit effect you. Woozie and I have had this discussion many a times, but man take inventory of your friend. Keep the ones that truly have your best interests in mind close and say fuck 'em to the rest.

I dropped out of school when I was a lot younger and began home schooling so I know where you're coming from. Now, I'm at a school doing normal classes right before going to university in September.

I definitely think you should go to a school to finish it off. Although I don't think I really gained an intellectual advantage going back to normal classes, it was invaluable to me in the long term because it provided a lot more motivation into what I wanted to do. More so, you pick up a lot of bad habits not going to classes like not knowing how to deal with other students or respecting teachers, communication with staff. That sort of thing. And it's also good to get back into the swing of having a routine if you're one to loathe it.

Certainly, this is only my experience and in another country so I have no idea how the system over there works but overall it is a lot more beneficial to prepare yourself for college academic life than take the route you are most familiar with. Plus you may well end up meeting people who can help you broaden your horizons in the type of job you'll have in your year off.

I had exactly the same story as the op. I didn't do a single piece of homework in middle school and failed, however, I passed all the tests I took. They made teachers watch me because they thought I was cheating, ha. Anywho, did the same shit in highschool and went into homeschooling. There wasn't much work, basically like a section of a book. Nothing hard.

However, I did rather well in homeschooling and if anything I learned how to learn. How to make myself sit down and study a topic until you thought you could pass the test. That lesson paid off more in college than anything I could learn in an 'actual' highschool, in my opinion at least. It was more of a "I'm doing this for myself" than a "I'm doing this because the teacher told me to." kinda thing...

My advice; stick with what you have now and get to college as quick as you can.

If your online school was anything like mine (although yours sounds like exceptionally more work than mine was), I'd suggest just staying with it.

If you want to get in a mindset of going to school, do things yourself like go to optional review/group session (don't know how homeschool'd your actual classes are, mine were practically just normal classes with discussions/meetings but online), and make sure you follow rules as closely as possible. The only other thing I really did was set alarm clocks and had timers to make sure I functioned like I would at school by waking up around 7, start working then be done around a normal school time.

He should already know how to do that since he's been doing this for a little while now and that skill is a plus to have in actual classes. I don't see any ways it wouldn't be beneficial to take what you learn from homeschooling and add on skills like grinding to be best friends with a lecturer and learning how to develop a rapport with people which you'd only really get in proper classes.
