Stupid game. 3% right after I let my guard down and get hit.

Same happened to us last night, I don't know if we just were killing it too slow or that SE was so sneaky to implement Astral Flow to the avatar NMs in Abyssea without us knowing.

We've been fighting one or two of them nearly every run, and this was the first that even did an Astral flow move on us.

they drop abyssite key items that give varying effects

tahrongis, for example, changes the max hp/mp boost buff to 30% from 20%

What Thorny said. Easy as hell to kill, reasonably decent drop rate on abyssite. And 2200 HP on Pld and Mnk is sex <3.

Maybe I deserve this and I'm just seeing it the wrong way.

Basically, Abyssea PT leader is a low level leech opening chests - I'm okay with this much. I noticed brown chests were despawning so I asked what the deal was with brown chests. The party leader said he wasn't going to bother, since there was no fair way to handle it. I opened a couple with keys and spoke up in PT chat about what were in them (Prot V and Shell V wound up going to someone, I can't recall what else). I popped another with some gil items (took the spinel, 3k...woo) and said the rest of the PT could take what they wanted (it wound up despawning with a couple 10-15k items in it still). Somewhere around this time, the PT leader told me to stop opening the brown chests, because it took too much time (check + a key, lots of time there, yeah).

I think I opened up two more chests after that and grabbed the scrolls for fear of losing them (requiem and minne). It was after the second one that I got kicked, while the party members were asking to roll for them. Huge fail in my eyes at least

I've gotten 630exp per kill in Kon-Highlands on those squid mobs. Didn't screenshot because I thought that was normal. Unfortunately, I had to leave 20mins after I started getting that.

I know this is random fail, but can I ask how annoying the Highlands squid mobs (Xzomit) were to fight? Only tp move that looks potentially dangerous is Siphon Discharge. It might be neat to have an alternative to Lizards and Bugards.

I found em pretty easy but the rest of my group had never seen before levels of retardation in addition to being gimp so they timed out due to thier lack of disorganization. At least I got like 5 confluxes walking around waiting for them to pick something to fight. I was healing as drg/whm in the pt with a pld(no rdm in pt) to give you an idea of how bad they were so the fact that said group timed out was purely because they sucked and not because the squid were hard.

To be fair, as long as you make sure people know they have to find their own replacements, it pretty much runs itself.

Finding willing people is hardly a hassle.

Surely you're joking. Making sure all the morons in your alliance follow instructions is an accomplishment in and of itself. Pickup merit parties were always atrocious, pickup merit alliances aren't any easier to pull off successfully.

I dunno, people seem to listen to me even if I'm not leader or anything. I haven't had a bad shout Abyssea, even full of gimps. But I haven't done a lot of them, so probably disregard that I suck cocks.

Handling drops are impossible, I don't even try. Someone took a K.Ore earlier today, dunno if party ended up /random'ing for it or not but whatever.

I've handled two so far. Each had a few LS members but were mostly pickups. It's really not that difficult. Maybe I just haven't invited that level of moron.

If you're handling chests, any items that drop from the chest can be taken by you, and people can random for them while you open the others, then just run up and trade the item during chest downtime. The only time I ignore brown chests is if the items in it are just plain bad. Unless you ninja something and they notice, no one seems to complain, they get their items, chests don't go to waste, no problems.

So I've had 3 abyssea alliances. So far 2 of them have timed out after 100 minutes or so (go go 1 TE!) and the other ran 5 hours before we all collapsed. What gives?

What he said + just boot idiots who do dumb shit and rep them? I always handle chests and just open all gold chests and then random out the 10k+ items. Anything lower than that I don't random out and I have not had a problem yet. It really is easy to lead one of these. Hard part is just picking as few gimps as possible.
