It's more that the person in the video I posted, Astral Burned to 75 BLM, and most likely RDM too (He used a scroll of Gravity), achievement isn't measured by how you level, that's an unfair judgment. It's about how hard to try, and most people who level to high levels (Not talking about merits or subs) with Astral Burn, aren't willing to work very hard.

Leveling through standard means is literally twice as time consuming as doing so via widely available alternatives(taking into account the time required to catch up on your skills), and, in the case of nearly every job, has absolutely nothing to offer you in terms of preparation for the role the job plays at whatever the level cap is at the time.

I never said he was wrong for doing so, not once. It's my preference that I would rather level the standard way. I never once said that my opinion was right, my opinion, is my opinion, and it's based off of how I feel. That's what an opinion is. I don't understand why you're being so aggressive. I'll admit, I can't argue my point of view, but either way, it's the way I see it, I think that leveling traditionally is a better representative of skill or 'work ethic'. Also, if that's your experience, fair enough, but insults don't make you any more correct.

I realize you said most, but I've definitely done my share of Astral Burning (though unfortunately I finished my Maat's without), and I think I'm as far from being the lazy/unwilling to work player there is.

I think you're missing the fact, that most players who level their jobs "the real way" are also not willing to work very hard. I think the vast majority of the playerbase of this game is unmotivated and lazy. The few of us that are motivated go out and get what we need/want and put in the effort/time.

I personally enjoy leveling the traditional way. However, I do realize that astral burning is better if I want to get to enjoy end game blahblah with that job.

However, what if I already have all the jobs I intend to do end game with leveled? For example, what if for some reason I actually like PUP (lol). Its useless end game (or at least I'm assuming it is, considering I haven't played since June), so why would I rush to get there? I am in no way saying astral burning is bad. I love it, and used it whenever the opportunity presented itself, but there are people who actually enjoy leveling in this game. I know I enjoyed it and was in the process of leveling SAM when I quit.

People do play this game for different reasons. I never saw leveling as a grind, I saw it as part of the game. If you didn't enjoy it, that's on you, but it was definitely one of the aspects of this game that was fun to me. Sure LFPing for hours on certain jobs wasn't appealing, but whatever. Some of us remember how painful it was to even consider leveling DRG back in the old days, back when DRG's 2 hour was fucking Call Wyvern.

Seriously, it was part of the game then. From what I understand, Abyssea made leveling a fucking joke now, even more so than astral burning ever did. If you want easy, come play WoW with me.

tl;dr Some people enjoy leveling, some don't. Some people enjoy leveling but don't mind astral burning a few levels, some don't. Either you understand that or you don't. If your opinion is somewhere in between, then you're retarded.

I don't care if you enjoy leveling the Square-sanctioned way. Why, that would make me a hypocrite, wouldn't it? I only care if you express an issue with the alternatives, or in any way try to diminish the worth of players who choose to take advantage of them.

Even if they were just handed the job magically already at 80, the good players would figure it out in short order and the bad players would act retarded.

Although the "you have to have leveled it the 'correct' way" argument isn't as retarded as the "I have it at 80, what do you have it at?" argument.
