I never really understood why people go all crazy about BEING this job or that job. Everyone, after all, has the potential to be every job so everyone is just as much a SMN as everyone else (potentially).

Why, however, is there this strange subset of people who play the pet jobs often who are, like, really really odd about those jobs? I don't hear people who play a lot of PLD or a lot of BLM or whatever go on and on about their job like it is the one thing that solely defines themselves and their relationships to others.

Sounds contradictory, but SMN would be one of the only jobs I would Astral Burn, then again, it's just not my cup of tea. I even got all the avatars, and still can't bring myself to level it.

Realistically speaking, summoner feels the burn(lol) of AB a hell of a lot more than everyone else, puppetmaster being a close second. While you'll be able to Predator Claws with the best of them, your ability to buff and deal damage magically will leave something to be desired for a long time to come. Conversely, every other job(again, barring PUP) will be able to cap themselves in every relevant aspect(sans perhaps defensive skills) in a day or less.

I'd be pissed if I was a 80 RDM with 0 Enhancing Magic (but you already pointed that out - just giving my opinion).

I would think blu would be up there just to be able to learn spells. But I guess you could run something to just spam pollen or something.

Backstory: I got invited to this abyssea party to open chests as 44 SCH. It was very slow getting started and had awful party setups and such and I noticed this one 74 DRK hitting for 0s and using Crescent Moon for 4 damage. I asked him what his GS skill was and he replied 181 and that he was using this as a skill up party. Of course I made a few comments about him being gimp (His gear was atrocious too obviously) throughout the party and decided to see if I could outdamage him on 44 SCH. Sure enough I tested a few mobs and even on 44 SCH, I was outdamaging him on fights he didn't use Souleater. About 2 hours later he tried to go on the offensive and try to shit talk me for being a leech and such and then he said the above and I'm pretty sure that little acc on homam head still isn't going to outweigh that 2% Haste even skilling up ;p I ended up leaving shortly after.
