I've been playing the early release of Lord of the Rings Online F2P, and it's really good. Last time I had a game hook me like this, it was FFXI. Same depth of gameplay but easier to solo if you want to, plus a lot of the xp comes from quests and not grinding out mobs. Good crafting and hobby system, and nice community. Nice DX10/DX11 engine too with hi-res textures and water tessellation, plus it plays with plenty of bells and whistles on my laptop.
In fact it's so good I'll probably end up subscribing, although the whole point of my picking it up was that it's gone F2P. Go figure. Anyhow, highly recommended and I am really very impressed with it.
Need for Speed World has lifted their lv10+ purchase only thing to make it full f2p.

You can basically earn the boosts during gameplay, no real need to buy them at all.

The site has been updated now, game guide in full, so that means only one thing!
Betaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa is coming.
Dynasty Warriors Online beta begins October 14th.
I also found this game last week Uncharted Waters Online. It's basically a naval/exploring game that KOEI released in Japan back in '05 and it finally released here. It has a jp ps3 psn version of the game too.
Nations you can choose to start from:
England
Portugal
Spain
The Netherlands
France
The game is very deep in what you can do and learn. The main classes in the game can be switched at any time(if you unlocked it).
There are 25 Adventure, 26 trade , and 21 Battle classes to unlock.
Found my alternative flavor of the month(s) whenever 14 is down for maint.
I'm Haubergeon England in it.
Gamespot giving early beta codes for DWO.
<<link removed due to new policy/copyright problems>>
Gamespot codes start on the 12th instead of 14th so get one now.
Kitsu Saga beta just started from Aeria Games. Made by the same people who made Grand Fantasia which I enjoyed a lot, so downloading it now since I'm bored anyway.
http://kitsusaga.aeriagames.com/
Says closed beta, but every single Aeria beta ever hasn't required a key to play, just log in/sign up and download and it should work just fine.
I'm playing it till 35 for the awards you get once OB starts. High Swordsman is op man.
Is that Flamewind side? I'll pick that side if you're on it I guess, I have no clue what class I want to pick anyway. Paladin fucking owned in Grand Fantasia but none of them sound like dedicated tank classes from the descriptions, so I dunno what to pick.
Yeah when you pick a class it shows a video describing what kind it is and all that.
*Heaven Sword actually.
I'm Hauberk flamewind on channel 4 right now. They give you aria points to use in closed beta so go nuts.

Didn't see this posted here yet, but a Heroes of Might and Magic MMO came out a couple weeks ago. Instead of turns they use a timer on actions (a battle takes 3-4 hours to complete, a building can take from a couple hours to a couple days, etc.) You're limited to 3 cities/heroes at f2p but you'll get more later on anyway. It's also only $15 for 3 months and they have a referral system where if someone you refer subscribes you get 15 days free.

That's my link, you should get setup near my kingdom on the map. I have an alliance going with an old FFXI friend, we have a couple spots still and will probably be able to add a couple more soon enough.
Also, there's Estiah, Estiah is essentially a "card game" MMO, it has a VERY in-depth battle system, lots of content, they just don't have graphics at all to go with it. You can also play as many accounts as you want, as long as you don't refer yourself and such. Spending money in this game is for cosmetic things only, no benefit from doing so in gameplay, either.
http://www.estiah.com/user/register/index/id/77142 my referral link for that.
These games are pretty much all I've been doing last couple months. Trying to get into LOTRO, but not feeling it much, hopefully that can change soon, but until then these games are keeping me interested in something.
Lol, the menu looks like a total reskin of Grand Fantasia. Hopefully it's almost as good as, kept me busy for plenty of time so I wouldn't even care if it was very similar.
Edit: Got to level 10, pretty meh so far, dunno if I'll even end up playing it again. I'd rather just download and play Grand Fantasia again to be honest.![]()
Yeah, I played that kitsu saga shit, got to Lv9ish or something yesterday... I think it sucks balls so I just stopped and uninstalled.
Kitsu Saga GMs are nice enough to activate 2x energy or 2xp by asking if we want it with announcements in-game.
I hope they'll be like that during Open beta. 2x xp and 2x drop tomorrow.
Dynasty Warriors Online CB and Vindictus OB next week.
DWO interview
http://mmohut.com/editorials/dynasty...line-interview
If DWO is really good I'll probably make a thread for it like Vindictus.A Few weeks ago Aeria Games asked me to do an interview for their upcoming game Dynasty Warriors Online (Which goes closed beta on October 14). Since there wasn’t too much info available out there about the game, I figured doing a question & answer interview would be an awesome way for me to learn more about the game and to share that info with MMOHut readers. Anyway, on with the interview!
Omer Altay (OA): Hi, This is Omer From MMOHut.com. I’ve actually played many of the Dynasty Warrior games on the consoles, so I’m a bit excited about Dynasty Warriors Online. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us your position over at Aeria Games / Dynasty Warriors Online?
Aeria Games (AG): My name is Brian DeSanti and I’m the Associate Producer on Dynasty Warriors Online (DWO).
OA: I ask this every time, but I think it’s worth knowing. Who actually developed Dynasty Warriors Online? Was it Koei, the company behind the console Dynasty Warrior Games? Is the game available outside of North America? If so, has the game been successful there?
AG: DWO was developed by Koei and is being published in the US and Europe by Aeria Games. Even though we’re specifically targeting the US and Europe, we don’t block players from playing our games, meaning anyone can play regardless of where they’re located. DWO is currently available in Japan and has been quite successful.
OA: Awesome to hear that Dynasty Warriors Online won’t have any IP Blocks. Can you tell me a little about Dynasty Warriors? What’s the game all about and how is it different from the 100+ other free to play MMORPGs out there? Also, what similarities will it have (if any) with the console Dynasty Warrior games? Will it be action oriented?
AG: Dynasty Warriors Online is based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The ancient Han Dynasty has collapsed and three generals now vie for control of China with the hope of unifying the country under their banner.
Dynasty Warriors is known for its hack ‘n’ slash style gameplay and this experience is has flawlessly transitioned to the PC with DWO. Compatible with any USB game controller, players feel like they’re playing the Dynasty Warriors game they’ve come to love. This action oriented gameplay is not all that common for MMORPGs and will be something that sets DWO apart from the rest. DWO also has traditional MMORPG elements such as player guilds, quests, and features for players who enjoy PvE or PvP.
OA: Great to hear that DWO supports gamepads and is supposed to play a lot like the console Dynasty Warriors Games. What kind of crafting system (if any) can we expect from Dynasty Warriors Online? Are there any really interesting or unique features in the game you’d like to point out?
AG: There are many different systems in the game which can help the players improve their performance or appearance. Synthesizing is a system that allows players to combine two items to get one item that has the attributes of both starting items. Tempering allows players to upgrade a certain attribute of their weapon. Modifying will alter the base abilities of their weapon. Players will also be able to add elements to their weapons to give their weapon an elemental affect that can help in battle. They will also be able to add elements to their gear, as well as dye it to change its appearance. Players can also sew their gear to combine specific materials with existing armor to create new items.
OA: Item upgrading system. Check. How will progression work in Dynasty Warriors Online? Do players get stat points every level? Skill Points? How many skill / talent trees will each class have? Will there be job advancements?
AG: DWO’s progression comes in the form of military ranks. Players begin at the lowest rank (Recruit) and acquire honor through training, quests, and battles as they progress. There are 17 ranks in all, each requiring a specific amount of honor and a passing grade for a promotion test in order to be promoted to the next rank.
OA: Interesting – military ranks instead of levels. Tell me a bit about the PvP in Dynasty Warriors Online. Will there be a big emphasis on PvP?
AG: PvP comes in a variety of different game modes in DWO. Mock Battles allow players of the same faction to test their skill against one another. Apart from the battle itself, this game allows spectators to observe the match and doesn’t affect the characters in any way. Arena mode allows players to battle players of opposing factions. Melee battles are 4v4 encounters taht pit opposing factions against one another with varying mission objectives. The largest PvP battle comes in the form of Showdown mode, where 12 players on each side battle one other for battlefield dominance. There’s also a Campaign mode that allows rival factions to battle for city control.
OA: 12 vs 12 battles sound pretty epic. What about PvE? What kind of end game content can we expect to see in Dynasty Warriors Online?
AG: As a player progresses, they unlock quests that they can complete. Quests range from solo quests to 4 person quests, and provide players with unique mission objectives. Players who are familiar with the Dynasty Warriors series will enjoy this system because it offers some objectives that have never been seen in previous titles. The Melee battle mode allows for both PvP and PvE battles, so players who prefer not to face player opponents can still participate in this battle mode.
OA: There’s very little information about the release schedule of Dynasty Warriors Online. I know you guys haven’t announced anything, but when can we expect closed beta to begin and open beta? Just provide a ball-park estimate if you can.
AG: DWO’s Closed Beta has just been announced as October 14th. Players can sign up for the Closed Beta at http://dynastywarriors.aeriagames.com and that will allow them to stay up to date on all the DWO news we announce.
OA: Thank you for your time! I look forward to playing Dynasty Warriors Online myself when closed beta begins! I’ve always loved the hack-n-slash style gameplay in Dynasty Warriors. Hopefully the MMO version of the game is equally as fun.
I'm basically looking to get into something WoW/Aion-esque (mind you, I only played WoW for about 2 weeks) to tide me over until they get shit fixed in FF14... Runes of Magic seems to have good reviews and seems appealing. Obiv its free, but theres still the hassel of downloading and installing and etc, so do you guys think this is a worthwhile time waster in the meanwhile?
Maybe try Lord of the Rings Online since it's free now?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Runescape. It's more grind intensive than most MMO's but its by far the most unique F2P MMO and it offers a lot of content. Granted I spent a few months playing Members (2-3 years ago) and the quests are very fun and they let you explore the world and its a pretty damn big one at that. Only thing that sucks is the PvP and the tedious grind that starts to pick up at around 60-70 in any given profession. There's also a lack of party function which would have been a really nice addition. The game is entirely based around soloing so if you don't have any friends or don't plan on playing with/making friends Runescape is probably your best bet. The graphics are also pretty lousy but I'm a gameplay over graphics kind of man so it really depends on your own personal taste.
