Motorola = not worth the fucking hassle. Locked bootloaders can go fuck themselves.

not going to disagree, but since Motorola got mentioned, if anyone ended up with the Bionic, official ICS leaked out. i installed it yesterday, and it's awesome. was running CM9 & selfkang nightlies for a few months before.
i agree completely, but right now both cm9 & aokp on the bionic have severe problems with the its radios and also have no hardware acceleration (which means most games, Chrome, Netflix, etc just don't work right now). ICS is so awesome that i dealt with that for 3-4 months, literally not able to use 50% of what i would want to use, and also having to randomly wipe the dalvik cache to restore data whenever i rebooted or changed locations/between wifi & 3g/lte... but i still put up with it. that's why this official leak is so awesome, hopefully both versions of those roms are working perfectly very soon if not already (haven't paid attention since installing the official leak).
fwiw, motoblur's infection seems to have been decreased in this release, the motorola-stock rom doesn't look terrible at all and runs excellent, and i thought the GB version was horrendous. it's still not google-stock though.
thank god... both moto and apple have been kicked out of court... sweet!
I can only hope this keeps happening. This is a second shot to apple in a few weeks. A judge just last week turned down a claim to ban the SGS3 and now this.
I am not just happy to see apple fail here, I am just as happy to see moto fail at the ban of iPhones. This patent crap needs to stop.
yes we all know you own 99.999% of the world in patents. I mean really HTC sued over the use of emails over 3g networks I think(or was that RIM? ). WTF?

Posner to Apple, Motorola: 'And don’t come back'
Case dismissed, with prejudice

Judge Richard Posner of Chicago has ended the Apple-versus-Motorola legal battle, at least in America: not only has he dismissed the case, he has done so “with prejudice”, meaning the two companies can’t defibrillate the lawsuit with a new filing.
Earlier this month, Posner had warned the companies that dismissal was likely. At the time, he had said that it was unlikely that either party would be able to prove that damages were warranted in the case and prevented the trial from starting. Now, the judge has confirmed that opinion in the strongest possible terms.

Posner: Neither party is entitled to an injunction
As before, neither party survives Posner’s judgment: testimony by Apple’s Nathaniel Polish is spiked as inviting “guesswork”, while Motorola is characterized as “going for broke” and providing “no reasonable evidence for calculating a reasonable royalty”.
Posner also ruled that injunctive relief was out of the question, since Motorola’s FRAND (fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory) commitments allow anybody to use its patents as long as they paid the FRAND royalty.
“How could it be permitted to enjoin Apple from using an invention that it contends Apple must use if it wants to make a cell phone with UMTS telecommunications capability – without which it would not be a cell phone," he asks.
Moreover, against Motorola, he also states that if Apple did reject Motorola’s request for a 2.25 per cent FRAND royalty (a point contended in evidence, but in any case now irrelevant), the two were arguing about price, not whether Motorola was obliged to license its patents under its FRAND obligations.
“Neither party is entitled to an injunction,” Posner writes, because “neither has shown that damages would not be an adequate remedy … the parties have failed to present enough evidence to create a triable issue”. Furthermore, “although both parties asked for injunctive relief, neither named an expert witness who would testify about such relief”.
Posner also skewers Apple’s submissions made after his previous tentative judgment, saying that the company tried to “turn the case into an Apple versus Motorola popularity contest … Apple wanted me to allow into evidence media reports attesting to what a terrific product the iPhone is” – something which Posner said had no bearing on the patent dispute.
He further notes “danger that Apple’s goal in obtaining an injunction is harassment of its bitter rival...The notion that these minor-seeming infringements have cost Apple market share and consumer goodwill is implausible, has virtually no support in the record, and so fails to indicate that the benefits to Apple from an injunction would exceed the costs to Motorola.”
For readers who want to consume the entire 38-page document, AllThingsD has a copy here.
So: if Apple wants to block Motorola's products, or if Motorola wants to counter-sue, they'll just have to continue forum-shopping around the world in the hope of finding a co-operative judge. We can only hope they fail everywhere. ®
Having a major problem with sisters galaxy nexus.
Tried rooting it using Galaxynexusroot.com and it failed, ended up in an infinite boot loop.
For the last 2 hours I've been trying to get out of the loop using wugs and unroot tools and odin. Nothing is working. The phone is a fucking brick right now, all it does is loop with the google screen or the stupid color flashy square screen that drives me nuts. I want to throw it into a wall and ask for a new one from verizon.
edit: i can't even fucking run odin ughghgfdghfdfsd
omg I finally got it to unbrick and restore to factory. THANK THE HEAVENS
if you get a bootloop odds are you can unbrick the phone lol dont freak out so fast. Its really scary(is this the first time thats happened to you?)
rule one dont freak out ~_~ i did that once on a phone I boot looped and screwed it up big time. I forgot to put CWM onto the phone so I tried to push it via the bootloader when it boot looped on me(that would be fine) but I pushed the wrong code and did end up with a full brick.
Freaking out leads to mistakes, and the only way to break anything fully is to do what I did.
Was very happy it was a metro PCS phone that was worthless just about(ended up buying the dude a used one off ebay) ~_~ only perm brick iv ever had.
After two hours I don't think freaking out was merited. Yes its the first time, and nothing worked including Odin and wug. Eventually I got it to flash as 4.0.3, hopefully later I can try again. Sister absolutely hates her nexus and wishes she got an iphone, I need to come up with an excuse to get the phone swapped at verizon. She's had nothing but problems with it. At least we ruled out the battery.
Sometimes you just get a bad phone... Go back there with stock and tell them you want a replacement.
Or you could just hard brick it and say it stopped working lol
only thing if you do this. there is a shot verizon wont do anything, you very well might need to mail it to samsung... and you might get a new GN.
and tell your sis to suck it up! 4g > iphone I could care less if the phone had nothing else working. lol give her a good working 4g phone for a day, then let her get a iPhone she will hate it.
Finally got the ICS OTA update for my razor maxx.... I actually like it a lot more than the galaxy s2 "leak" version of ICS.
I don't know if you remember, but this is the same phone that had problems I posted about pages back, where the battery drained abnormally fast etc. She took it to the verizon store as per this threads suggestion and they replaced the battery to rule out the battery being the problem. It has worked better since, but still not great.
After trying to root it today, and having to factory restore it, its worse than ever. I think its hilarious that a factory restore would make the phone worse. But now at least we are assured it is the phone itself. Its going to verizon tomorrow and they can't slap me with a new battery this time. She doesn't care if she has to wait for a new phone as long as this one is gone. I hear so many great things about GN's, I feel terrible that she got a lemon on my suggestion. She got it the week it released too. I'm like, don't get an iphone or whatever, get a GN. Hopefully the new one is what we expected.
Now for me:
How good is the SG3? My iphone is still going strong but my plan is up and I'm switching to verizon whenever the right phone comes to light.
SGS3 may or may not be worth it, wait a week or so and see what everyone says with sprints/AT&T's/T-mobiles
The phone is said to be kick ass(I plan to buy it) with a camera to rival is not pass the iPhones. 20 burst shot, 30fps video(xda has a crack to even get it to 60FPS) and the camera mods look kick ass and the video/pics that was posted in this thread are just scary good.
the mod is pushing 21mbit.. something like pro cameras push 30 and normal cell phones take around 9~12mbit so its no joke
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1691145
sound is being worked on still to try and get better. but this is an example of the video at 1080P recording, dont forget to go to turn it on 1080P and full screen it!
also damn that sucks... make verizon get her a good one. And if it keeps up, let her switch to the iPhone there is no sham in that its a decent phone. Just see if you can get her to stay till the 5 comes out with LTE(get your money back and let her use a old phone for a little). going back to 3g really is something that is not easy. I went from the thunderbolt to the Droid 3 and although it was a dual core phone it was 3g and painful.
edit #idk...: Im 4g again ~_~
The Galaxy S3 is the phone I am getting (Soon as my pre-order arrives). The phone has been pretty hard to get a hold of even though the launch was on the 21st. Some lucky AT&T and Sprint customers that pre-ordered directly only through their carriers are slowly getting theirs and what I've heard is that stores are only getting 3-5 phones at a time for pre-orders with the a new launch date of the 28th to sell to the general public.
the delays are making me pissed though. Iv never had to wait for a phone like this. They millions of pre orders should of just held off till they could meet the demand.
I was willing to put my money down right at pre order till the date was iffy. Now I am waiting till its released and going to see the phone. Odds are I will still get it but who knows by the time 7/11~ later maybe even for *public release* something else might catch by eye. Phone would be out almost two months at that point.
Look at this thread I wanted this phone lol, now they making me second guess myself.
Oh trust me, I've been waiting for this phone ever since it was rumored. I pre-ordered at Best Buy on 6/11 since I had some gift cards laying around that I needed to use. The email confirmation I received said that it would be out between the 18th and 21st and that if there was any change in the release date they would contact me and they haven't. I've had to call up there every afternoon to see if they received their shipment and I was told they had no idea when it was coming. Other BBY stores have claimed that it would come in last friday and yesterday, however, yesterday there were some stores that received pebble blue but only one store in Southern California that received Marble Whites (down in San Diego) and those phones were for those who per-ordered.
Hmm, if all you guys are getting it maybe I should grab one. I was going to wait till the iphone5 if nothing good popped up, but I'm so sick of some things. I have an ipad at least so I won't lose my money on apps.
