Sprint and HTC confirmed they aren't giving 2.2 to the Hero. This should help your situation though.

Apperently you can buy a samsung vibrant from amazon for 1 cent. Guessing with a 2 year plan. Tmobile was selling it online the other day for $99
Is there a way to change the button function on my droid x while locked? I want the volume buttons to switch to skip song instead of volume while music is playing :<
Leaked 2.2 for Droid x. Was thinking about doing it but I'm going to wait a week or so.
don't have to be rooted to do this

also another one-click method of rooting the Droid X

Thanks for the link... I'm weary of doing or though because of the difficulty required to go back to 2.1 should this not be the same as final release... I'll read up on our more.
T-Mobile G2 soon!
So yeah did I brick my phone...? It goes to the moto sign, then goes to the droid eye, then the droid logo, then goes back to the eye, and goes back and forth between the eye and the droid logo... I can access the start up menu, I reset to fact settings and cleared cache, nada.
I dunno about Moto's, but shouldn't you be able to just wipe completely and restore?
Try booting up into recovery and wiping the cache. See if that works
Tried everything under the sun, including downloading a manual update to reinstall all original software, wound up bringing it back to walmart, luckily they had one in stock and the guys there are pretty retarded, so he was like yup ok, lemme just trade it in. I'll root it again but I don't think I'm going to push m yluck with getting froyo early :< Probably woulda been an easy fix, but bootloader is locked :/ meh
Yea I only rooted my DX just for wifi tether, just been waiting till something more stable comes into the scene. Since that leaked version just came out, give it like a week or two till an updated version comes out.
SO much stuff to look for/learn for these things lol. Just got my first droid style phone after using an iphone for 2 years. What should i go after doing first/dl'ing etc . I have the samsung captivate on ATT...
You didn't DL RSD lite and flash the device with the leaked SBF?
I rooted using an application I side loaded after I did a .sbf flash on my droid back to stock .604. Then I dropped the update.zip on the SD card and was done in about 10min. Nothing too hard really.
http://rootzwiki.com/index.php/Main-...a-Droid-X.html Follow that, and DL the .sbf file from http://twitter.com/b16a2smith/status/21544626803 's link.
No, I didn't do that, I was running out of time really, I had shit to do and I already spent 5 hours trying to do the froyo update, then another 2 trying to save it from bricking. This is exactly what I did to get it that way:
If you ever run into the "red eye, droid logo, red eye etc", I'll save you some trouble, google "Droid x Boot loop" to get relevant posts. There's some things you can do, but because of the way I got into this problem, there was nothing I could do with the Bootloader locked. I personally see it as a relatively easy fix if you have the stuff necessary.Originally Posted by Silentleroy
Alright so i have a question, i downloaded a torrent app, which works wonderfully btw, 100 kb/s on the parkway. When i downloaded the song, it will play fine but the song data doesn't show up and if you return to home screen it stops playing, and if you try to look up the song through the music app, its not there even after moving the file to the root of the sd. Only way to play it is to go through files and click on it there, anyone know a solution to this?
Edit: it still plays if you lock the phone btw.
You cant really brick a android phone doing a custom rom/root. If you flash the system and set it back to a past backup you should be golden. Iv *bricked* my phone over a dozen times doing random shit, from roms that dont work to custom boot screens to kernels that are to low volt for my phone.
I have not looked to much into the new moto droids but I no the droid 2 is not all that different from the droid 1. So id have to think the Droid x is the same way, little better cpu and what not. all the stuff is there to fix the phone nice and easy.
Well from what i was reading, there was no fix, so i went the safer route and brought it back and got it replaced. Im pretty sure the droid x is a lot more locked down from the moto droid 1, but im not really sure by how much or whatever. The droid 2 may be an updated droid 1, but the droid x is a lot different from what i know, at least.
