You cannot complain about froyo update as long as droid x is still on 2.1 -.-
Anyone feel like shedding a bit of light on the rooting subject? I have a new Droid Incredible, and to a noob like me it seems to be running Stock 2.2. I have the 2150 Battery from Verizon and it takes forever to charge and seemingly no time at all to drain that charge. Being a noob... I have found a few otions (syncing a few things like maps, and weather) that I don't use and turned them off. In the end though I would like more control, through Apps like Autostarts and SetCPU.
I guess, I am just curious if i am overcomplicating what is now (with unrEVOked3) easier than ever? Is this guide really all i need to do to root my Droid Incredible? And another guide here, that was updated today it looks like...?
can you install custom code/roms? if you can, one of the best ways would to be if you could get a low volt kernel. adds hours of life to my moto droid.
note: not all phones work with low volt, if yours does its great and helps out a lot. Do not no much about that phone so its hard for me to say really.
Lookin like Froyo for Droid X will be here tomorrow. *crosses fingers*
Yeah finally: http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/21/m...ting-tomorrow/ lol
Thought I posted last night, but apparently not. Rooted just fine. Was actually quite simple. Had more difficulty with setting up the drivers on PC than with the actual rooting process.
As for kernels, yep: Hydra Kernels come highly recommended, but as of now I am testing to see how simply running Titanium Backups (freezing a few apps) and a bump charge holds up. That and Autostarts seems quite useful so far. I have SetCPU but haven't used it. Now that I can use Shootme, this is my rather plain home screen =) Simple, but I quite like it.
Spoiler: show
Currently loving the following apps:
AppBrain App Market
ASTRO File Manager
Autostarts
BattStatt
Desktop Visualizer
Dolphin Browser HD
Dropbox
Gentle Alarm
LauncherPro
Lookout
Quick Settings
ROM Manager
SetCPU
Shapewriter keyboard (until Swype gets its ass out of beta maybe, but for now there is no reason not to use this. Love it.)
Tajm - like Battstatt but for date
Tasker
Titanium Backup
Zedge
Froyo for droid x is out now! Settings > About Phone > check for updates
I thought I was gonna wait until 12pm!! Fandamtastic.
Grats!
Finally able to turn my phone more then one way. New phone lock looks nice but the grey color on swype through me off.
At least you HAVE swype... been making do with ShapeWriter.
wtb froyo for galaxy s![]()
I don't really a notice in speed difference, flash is nice
It seems quite a bit snappier and smoother to me... going through the menus and such. Already rooted... now to figure out how to overclock.
a little late but i found http://blog.23corner.com/tag/universalandroot this app that lets you root without voiding warranty. i have not done it yet but i was going to later today since i still need to back shit up.
I need to find a update or Rom or whatever to wipe my phone completely and reinstall everything, where can I find this?
I have a question for people running x or just normal 2.2. I've been having issues with my media player. First when I had originally downloaded the OTA, the media player stopped recognizing the mp3 and avi files and wouldn't play them. A quick restart solved that... but now whenever I run my media player after about 15 secs into the song, it just freezes the phone completely. I have to hard reset by taking out the battery. Happened 4-5 times now (I was tyring to figure out what caused the freeze, then I found it). Anyone heard of/experience this? Media player is crucial to me D:
Edit: nvm it seemed to resolve itself on the restart after this post... must've been because I dropped my phone while I was walking to my dorm -.-;;;
