I use Beautiful Widgets smaller home, Switchpro Widget, Mixzing, and Calendar (base android one), but I only use 3 screens cause more then that feels like a waste to me.

(Moto cleared this up on their site somewhere)
On the Droid X trying to modify or load custom ROMs does not brick the phone it just causes the phone to reboot into recovery and they phone can be used again once certified software has been loaded again.

The reason behind this or at least motos reason is so there won't be any viruses or anything loaded to your phone by loading custom ROMs.

It makes me feel a bit better and if its true it gives the modding community more than just one chance per phone to try to crack the code and mod it.

Um, it still means you'll have to send the phone in to Motorola to get it fixed, unless someone comes up with the "Certified" software out in the open. Until that point it's exactly the same as if your phone esploded on you, shits broke until you give it to Motorola.

Either way it's still complete bullshit and at last check alot of devs had already said they refuse to develop for the phone (Cyanogen being the most notable)

Um, actually since it throws it into recovery you should be able to take it back to Verizon and have them flash it instead of sending it in since they usually have the update.zip on their computer network as well.

Plus, a lot of moto's sbf's and tools get leaked quickly.

Verizon wont flash the phone, since you bricked it while violating the warranty.

This, Verizon and Motorola would tell you to go fuck yourself. They proved a point that they can kind of bone the mod community with the Milestone, I see no reason to expect anything amazing to happen with this phone.

In my experience the best widget to use for twitter, and any social network stuff really, is pure messenger widget. It's a scrollable widget of varying sizes that shows your emails, texts, twitter and facebook feed, and a couple other things. Other widgets I use are switchpro (was mentioned already, but it's ten times better than the toggle widgets built in), RSS widgetboards and pure calender.

Hm... I'm thinking since there is an update out if someone does mod it re applying that update.zip (Doing a logcat while it downloads should find its location) might repair it and run "certified" software.

If someone can find the jtag locations on the actual hardware there may be a way to pull the software off of the phone and pack it up into an sbf and "leak" it so it can be used to repair phones that were attempted to be modded.

On a more important note if they used this method on the X then there is no reason they won't use it on the Droid 2. Thinking of getting an Incred or something HTC if the Droid 2 is really the same way.

I think Motorola stated last week that the Droid (original) was the only phone they were making "open," and planned to have all of their other Android phones locked down like the Milestone or X.

Apparently they missed the memo about one of the reasons the original Droid was (is) so popular, because that's basically telling everyone who cares about rooting their phone to go with HTC products.

Unrelated, for the Evo folks, CM6 Alpha should be coming out this weekend, most likely Sunday.

Looks like someone is already testing an unsigned boot-loader right now for the X. Dont know how its going so far, but if they can do a break using the OTA or a leak, its all over.

If someone wants to hack something enough... They will. Only a matter of time. Look what happened with the HD2.

Haha nice, on the CM6 news. Looking forward to compare benchmarks and hear your opinions on it. So far I'm loving it. I've been leaning over the edge about the Samsung Vibrant, I want it but I honestly don't see myself having it for too long with these gamebreaker phones coming out at the end of the year from HTC. May just stick with the N1. CM and Google keep it spiffy and I must say... its like the only phone so far that has gotten better over time.

The FPS limit on the Evo has been completely removed for the most part now (mine does about 55 fps in fps2d, which is par for the course on most phones), even if it is just a dirty hack, so it should be operating exactly the same as all the other Snapdragon phones now.

All OMAP procs have EFuse its just a matter of activating it. I'm still curious if it could be activated over an OTA update.

I use beautiful smaller home widget w/wifi and silencer, tapatalk widgets, and various news widgets. Don't really need more just yet, also just use three screens idk what to do with seven.

tl,dr: 250+tax for the phone with an "Even Plus" plan that can be cancelled. You then own the phone for... 250+tax. Only at Costco.

    Um... damnit. Gadget purchasing impulses...

First nightly build of CM6 for the Evo went up, xda is exploding. Downloaded and letting them sit on my computer for a bit while I watch an episode of the Mentalist and then checking back to see how stable it is. I didn't mess with any of the Froyo ports up to this point (too much shit broken) so I'm this should be damn entertaining if it's fairly stable.

Edit: And they crashed the server for Cyanogen's nightly builds, go internet.

There is a "comment" section to send emails to the admin of the forums...... I sent one in a few months ago, and never heard anything back about it.

Droid 2 set to launch with Froyo

I'd imagine this will be just as hard to root as other Motorola phones.
