Sweet. Well I have a question, will adfree curb the data usage on my phone from free apps or will it stay the same? I jumped from about 20kb of data usage a day to about 2mb of data usage from free apps alone. I didn't really want to have to fork out an extra $15 a month for unlimited data as my budget is a little tight right now.

I'm hoping this Froyo update hurries up so that I can delete all this bloatware shit from my phone. Getting tired of seeing CityID pop up on my task list when I never fucking opened it.

Never tested that out... Thats a good question, I dont think it does though. From what I understand adfree stops it after it has been sent to you. (I really do not no though, so I could be way off on this, might be good to test tho!)

I read the developer's website. He says that AdFree is unlike other ad-blockers because it actually prevents the ads from downloading by blocking the IP address that sends them.

That be very helpful to people who are on the 150MB limit.

The xda devs have also said that I should install 2.2 with root and never to update OTA once I've rooted my phone... so should I just go ahead and remove all the bloatware and garbage now and update or should I wait? I guess I could make a recovery image and go back if I have to.

OTA updates are bad most of the time, just find a good rom on XDA and flash it. You're not missing on anything but limitations and bloatwares.

    This, pretty much.

Just slap on a rom, mess around a bit, and check xda once in a while for updates. Any good OTA updates will be integrated into the roms and such, so no worries about that.

If you have Clockwork and Odin access, you have to do something really fucked up to brick your phone.

Shitty part is I just uninstalled CM to test this out, since our CM doesn't have 4g yet :<

So apparently my home town has 4g, so I decided to play with it for the few days I'm still here. I zoomed into the coverage map, and my house is on a street that has both orange (3g), light blue (4g outside) and dark blue (4g inside), and my house lies in the orange :D

Not that it matters much, cause in an area that has so many diff colors I doubt moving over 1/4 of a mile would get me good coverage anyway, lol.

Iv been using it for some time. The 3rd one is almost ready for use. I used it for a full day with very small amount of bugs.

The major bug as of now is the data/phone service cuts out after you use the phone(as in make a call)
that can be fixed, easy by turning airplane mode and then back off. Also the back light does not work all that well, this can be fixed by using the brightness fix(change it and turn it back, backlights come back)

Overall his 3rd build was the best, the one he updated on the 4th was not as stable. So get your hands on the 1-3-11 if you can(and want to try it out)

I heard someone is working on Gingerbread for the Fascinate too. Froyo what? XD

Wondering if I should go ahead and get the emulators for my phone like PSX and SNES or not.

the NES/SNES run very well on my moto droid. If you have a fascinate just look up to see if it works well with them or not first. Well worth it ~_~ killed so much time playing SMB, castlevania and such. (i never got the psX tho I am told it works very well. Lots of games play just fine and the list seems to be growing as well.)

as for gingerbread for the fascinate, I think custom roms are delayed because of Kernels /bootloader incompatibility's. A 2.2 ROM was made I think though, no? Not OTA but it is out there if you want it that bad lol

Yea, slowly but surely they are getting it to work with the basebands.

I guess my other question is if they actually get a working kernel of Gingerbread AOSP, does that mean they'll be able to continue upgrading to future OSs or will my phone forever be stuck at 2.3?

If the phones specs are up to par with what the OS update needs odds are there is a way to get a phone to run anything. (only thing that would hold it back is a locked bootloder)- this is also one of the reasons if you want custom roms you never want to update OTA. Sometimes they will patch work arounds and such.

I dont understand how kernel devs work or for that matter bootloader devs. That be a question for one of them. But if they found a way to flash 2.2/2.3 odds are they can find a way to flash others as well. Never did study unix ~_~

it just depends how long the devs support the phone.

Hmm I cant find these nightly builds. The ones on the website and ROM Manager only go up to 12-16-2010.

My sisters verizon upgrade is next month, any suggestions for an android device? She loves my iPhone, and does want one, however with the market the way it is I think she'd be better off with a verizon non-iphone.

I would suggest the Nexus S or Galaxy S series phones but Samsung is real dick-headed about its Android updates. The Incredible is a popular substitute although it's not nearly as good as the recent phones emerging.

Nexus ships with 2.3, for what it's worth.

    Nevermind I found it.

The build I'm using is 1-9-2011. It's a bit laggy after clean install (as expected of an Alpha). Didn't install that HPBOOT thing yet. Gonna tinker around with it some more.

BRA-FUCKING-VO on this new music player. I hope Google is taking pointers. /golfclap
