It's taking sooo long to upload my Music library and its a bitch to go through and select what specific folders you want. Needs more work.

113/1908 and its been running since last night.

Ended up creating a separate folder specifically for this with select albums on it (the ones that were on my phone). Figured I'll let that run and add extra albums one at a time and let it sync. Seems faster that way.

3/588 now.

So I currently own a Samsung galaxy s GT-I9000 and my service provider (Bell since I live in Canada) offered a firmware upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 a couple weeks ago. I tried to update via Samsung kies but the process froze up and I had to disconnect my phone. The whole thing scared me a bit but in the end I lost nothing and the phone functions properly still. Now I keep getting reminded by Kies to update but I'm a bit hesitant. Is it worth it to update the firmware? Will I notice any significant improvements in terms of phone lag or anything?

From Eclair to Froyo? Yes. The difference in performance is night and day. Not sure how apparent it'll be with the TouchWiz UI but on stock its fairly big performance boost.

I'd say give the update another try the normal way but going through About Phone > Software Version or System Update. If that locks up um... look around for alternate methods (i.e rooting and flashing the image manually).

Sometimes it will look like its frozen but hasn't. Make sure you give it plenty of time to do its thing before you abandon the upgrade.

Just to add onto what Jodwahh said, also when its booting it might take a while. Something like 5-10 minutes is not unheard of for a first boot (not sure if this'll happen to you considering its an upgrade. I don't do stock OTAs so dunno).

Finally done uploading those 588 songs. Albums are somewhat unorganized in that songs are split, track orders seem messed up, same artist name comes up multiple times. The worst part is that this is all web-based for the Music Manager and theres no way to edit the track's tags so that things show up nice and neat (I'm OCD about this shit).

Anyone have any suggestions for editing the tags of multiple files at the same time just to fix up my music collection?

Can a nigga get a regular application that syncs to the cloud where I can edit this stuff (like iTunes)? What is it with Google and making everything run in the fucking browser... I mean its cool but at least add this basic functionality if you're going to do it. -_-;;;

If I want to format my phone, what is the best way to go about getting all my apps back?

Your apps are synced to your Google Account. Check "My Library" at https://market.android.com/ and you'll see everything you've downloaded. Once your new ROM is loaded and you log in/accept the terms of service for the Android Market it will automatically start downloading your apps. If any are missing just use the history on the website and push them to your device.

Or you can use an app like Titanium Backup. Though someone else will have to explain how to do that as I personally don't use it.

Remoted into my phone with androidscreencast.jnlp and recorded a quick test. Unfortunately videos are saved as MOV and seem sped up due to frame skipping so it looks fast.. Couldn't edit the file even after converting to AVI. Oh well. ;/



Long story short. Needs some 4G up in this bitch. Shit sucks when you walk around and hit a deadspot while your song buffers.

I was reading that people that want to upgrade to the Evo 3D but not up for an upgrade, can call Sprint (though some special number I think) and they are allowing an override so you still can get it for $200. Read it on XDA Evo 3D section. Worth looking into, as I might for the 2 other lines on my account. Just debatting if I want to stay with my Epic, or give it to my wife and get the 3D for myself, or maybe even wait for the SGII.

Also, anyone have any experience with transferring a phone from one line to another? I bought the phone though Amazon and know some 3rd parties will charge you if you do, but not sure exactly how that works... read about it some, but wanted to see if anyone has some experience.

just called, my full upgrade was supposed to be july 1st anyway, lady said she'd call me back on the 18th to bump it up or whatever. Hopefully the rumor about premier customers getting it on the 21st is true. Billin that bitch to the account
