Why wouldn't you wait a month for a better phone? D3 owners QQing over their early adoption? Bionic is confirmed for Sep 7. Galaxy S II will be out at a similar time on Verizon. I love my Droid X to bits and will be holding out for one of those.

Are you retarded? Who the fuck is QQing? How is the Bionic a "better" phone? because it has 4g? Oh man, Phone of the year, Bionic has the same specs as the D3, Galaxy II is no where in sight.

This, also when you factor in the price vs. what the Bionic's going to cost, and the difference in performance. It really doesn't matter. Unless I'm on vacation or traveling (in which case, I usually don't need to do large file transfers) I'm in an area with wifi whenever I want to stream netflix, play games, or do anything that is data intensive.

Lots of people think that 3g is slow too, which it's really not. Just that lots of old phones 3g WAS slow because it was bottlenecked by the ram and processor. I get speeds upward of 230 kb/s when downloading on 3g. On wifi the droid 3 is capable of over 1 mb/sec.

They did a Test on The D3 vs the Iphone and The Thunderbolt in internet speed, D3 beat both of them in all test, Thunderbolt was second, Due to it's processor, 3g only seemed slow because it was the processors holding it back, when I first got my D3 and used the internet I swear the 3g was faster, it just loaded shit in an instant, Im good with 3g at this speed, 4g is still new, I'll wait.

I'm glad I didn't wait. I gave my D1 to my wife and had to use it earlier today and I cannot believe how much slooooooooooooooooooower it is and feels funky compared to the D3 I've had for a week. Tactile keyboard is a deal breaker for me and nothing else coming out has one so I'm glad I pulled the trigger on D3.

I just called Verizon and got a $30 account credit toward my phone. Since I bought it at the full price of 199 and it wasn't bogo (I ordered it the day it was announced) they had since lowered the price to 129 for a promotion, and included the BOGO. I spoke to 2 different reps, and they told me since it was not within the 14 day window, they couldn't offer me the full price match of $60, but they did offer me $30 as a "consolation prize." Whatever, I'll take an extra 30 off my bill, and I don't feel as bad about paying $169. If you paid the $199 I'd advise you to call and at least get the $30 credit.

Did they unlock the bootloaders? Said something about that months back.

I believe bootloaders are still locked. Some guys over on xda developers might be real close to rooting the D3. The way I understand, the reason its taking so long, is because they don't have the means to recover the device if they brick it. So they are trying it on a DX I believe, that they have loaded with some similar software, and that way when they brick it, they can recover the device and try again.

You didn't badger them or threaten them enough. Always, always, always ask to speak to the supervisor. My call was transfered twice before I got my $30 credit. I said it's absolutely redic that I paid 199 and not even a week later is 129 and buy one get one. They said their policy is now 14 day price match/return, even though every fucking electronics retailer in the world does 30 day price match. I just harped on the fact I've been a customer for 4-5 years, my bill is never late, etc. Eventually they said they don't have to give me anything, but they were going out of their way to offer me the $30 dollar credit as a means of getting me off the phone. I also had them make a note on the account that I was very upset with the fact they wouldn't do a full price match. It's usually a safe bet that they don't lower the price of a brand new phone, especially one as awesome as the D3 for a while. It seems to me that they are just trying to blow out 3g units in order for an all out assault with the Bionic and the LTE network. The Droid 3 is probably going to be the most under appreciated/advertised phone that has the type of power it is capable of.

edit: Also the Bionic finally appeared on Verizon's MAP (min. advertised pricing) list, along with a new HTC device rumored to have 1.5ghz dual-core "snapdragon" processor as well as the new adreno 220 gpu. This would put the D3/Bionic about 3rd on most benchmarks behind it, as well as the Optimus 2x.

Problem was about the 129 price, did it go back up recently? The rep was telling me its at normal price, if it was normal price to you and you still got yours Ill call em back and bitch em out, even though i don't like bitching em out

Yeah, it was 129 at verizon, then now its 199 but bogo. Costco has em for $99 (i mentioned that) and some places have them for $59 and even FREE. I told them that while yes it is over 14 days at the time of the call, the price was reduced WITHIN the 14 days, I just didn't have time to call them right away. Technically, if I kept pushing, I think I could have got the full price match, since the price changed occured within 14 days of getting mine.
