DARPA has long been working on making real-time translation systems practical and portable, and it looks like it's now closer than ever to its goal -- although it can't necessarily take all the credit. The research agency recently teamed up with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (or NIST) to test three different systems as part of its TRANSTAC project, at least one of which relies on none other than a Nexus One to do real-time, spoken language translation from Pashto to English, and vice versa. Of course, specific details on the translation systems are otherwise a bit hard to come by, but NIST is more than happy to draw a few Star Trek comparisons in its demonstration video -- check it out after the break.

When I try to update my Evo with the OTA shit, i get this pic

Plug it in and wait. If nothing happens after a while, reboot and try it again.

Oh yea, if your rooted im pretty sure they will fuck you over.

Ok, not that good with android platform.

However, i've got a Mytouch 3g from a relative for free to screw around on and need some help in pointing me in the right direction on how roms for it.

Went over to xda, but the forum dedicated to this phone is so cluttered its hard to figure out.

As an fyi there is a new build for the droid for rooted users that was leaked a few days back.

The hackers just have to always one up the stock users ~_~ lol

if you have 2.2(rooted) its just a simple update this time around!

I have to say I have noticed that this build is faster. I can keep my droid at lower clock settings with this.

Ok, so I broke down and haggled with the AT&T people and got the Samsung Captivate for 50 bucks. Now, what do I do to optimize it and make it all superspiffy?

It should work just fine(tho you may need to do a clean install) I went from a 2.2 rooted to this update so really I can not say. Might want to ask on the forums there. They should have a much better idea of how that works. They are almost always willing to help you out on the forums.

looking to buying an android phone probably a samsung galaxy s... was reading up on google to see if my TZones would work with it since im currently using that with my iphone 3gs..

people said that the vibrant wouldnt be able to use the tzones and the captivate wouldnt be able to use the 3g band from tmobile like the iphone is..

does anyone know if tzones with 3g would work if i get the i9000 international unbranded?

edit: or i might just wait for the HTC glacier to be released next year x.x
