Holy fuck looks like I'm moving to Verizon. >_<;
Holy fuck looks like I'm moving to Verizon. >_<;
When I read about the prime a month ago I decided to hold out and not use my early upgrade that had just come. Come on Sammy...
Disappointed the the prime is gonna be Verizon only.
Moving to sprint with my girlfriend in Jan.....I hope the phone moves over to them by then![]()
Staying with T-mobile, the other carriers cost substantially more for what I want and I'm content with the service.
If those specs aren't just misinformation spread by Samsung to downplay the actual announcement then I'm kind of disappointed anyway. However much I'd love some stock Ice Cream Sandwich, I expected the processor/clock to be stronger and the camera to be significantly better than a 5 rear/1.3 front. GS II released originally in April with an 8/2, and it seems like that's almost standard for the current new wave of phones, I don't know why such a big deal like the Nexus would have a notably weaker camera (something that's important to me).
Also, I was thinking the battery would be stronger as well, especially with the resolution jump to 1280x720, so if those end up being the final specs I'd be wanting to see some real-use battery life expectancy before getting it anyway.
Rather just have the actual announcement.....but I love rumors lolUpdate: A new batch of rumored specs have surfaced over on GSM Arena, and these seem to be more in line with what we'd expect of a new Nexus. According to an anonymous Google employee, that 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display mentioned above is just about the only spec to make the final cut. The processor, however, is more likely to be a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos (that's right) with an accompanying dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics chip. That rear facing camera? Try 8 megapixels with a newly beefed up sensor. The handset should also ship with a girthy 2,050mAh battery fully capable of juicing this apparent LTE / CDMA / GSM Android monster.
I have more reason to believe the second batch of specs.
Either way, it's my next phone.
See, now that's wtf I'm talking about. Can only hope that the Verizon exclusivity is just rumor too, or that it's only for an initial 30 days or something.
1750 mAH battery is stronger that what is normally used (1500 mAH)...
Also in regards to rear camera - for a simple point and shoot that's more than enough. I mean seriously look at the pictures the iPhone 4 takes and that's only 5MP. It's not the MP count that is important, its the software with it.
Remember higher MP means worse low-light pictures. Ask any camera nerd on these forums.
Edit: Just saw the second batch of specs... MY GOD! O_O
So 2 different Nexus may be coming out :O
the verizon exclusive and the Exynos chip powered one. Either way I know what my next phone is gonna be
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/10/06...-galaxy-nexus/I don’t even know where to begin with this one. I’ll try my best though…
GSMArena has apparently received a tip from an “anonymous” tipster who works at Google, yet is…anonymous. This source claims that the real Nexus, which they are referring to as the “Nexus Prime” has completely different specs than the ones released this morning for the Galaxy Nexus.
Their source suggests that this phone will actually run Samsung’s new 1.5GHz Exynos processor – a chip that has yet to even go into sampling and was just announced last week. It will also pack a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU, 8MP camera, and 2050mAh battery. The screen though, is indeed the 4.65″ Super AMOLED HD that was reported earlier.
So what do we make of this? Well, if this device truly exists, it is NOT the Galaxy Nexus. The G-Nex is as was reported earlier. I know people with the phone that are not “anonymous” and believe what they have told me.
So what is this unicorn that the anonymous Google tipster speaks of? I would bet (if it exists) that it could be the Nexus Prime or the non-Verizon Nexus that is expected to come out towards the end of the year or beginning of 2012.
It sounds like a wonderful device, but there are too many things going on here that would suggest it won’t be announced next week at CTIA. The fact that the processor will start sampling this quarter means there is almost a 0% chance that it will make it into a retail device in the next few weeks. Remember, the Galaxy Nexus has been rumored time and time again to be available at the end of October/early November. Let’s also not forget that Texas Instruments has been flaunting their relationship with Google for Ice Cream Sandwich for months.
My thoughts are that the Galaxy Nexus is the SCH-I515 and is headed to Verizon at the end of this month. The unicorn Nexus Prime, if it’s real at all, is the GT-I9250 and will be the non-Verizon Nexus released early next year.
You guys tell me what you think. What a day, eh? Anyone else wishing it was Tuesday, October 11?
Maaaaaaaan, I don't want to wait till early next year. ; ;
Been putting off a new contract, but we need a second phone again, soon. I wonder if T-mobile will let us renew our contract and get one new phone, and let me save the upgrade for the other line till the Prime lands.
Im have to sell my thunderbolt when that sexy beast shows up![]()
yea might be because of Steve Jobs funeral.
Leaked video of the Nexus and ICS at work.

Looks like they listing the first leaked info of the phone ( Galaxy Nexus with TI OMAP, 5 MP cam)
UPDATE: Google confirms cancellation of next week's Samsung event is out of respect to Steve Jobs' death -
"We don't want to pwn his company's products with the unveiling of our innovative device, we'll wait a few weeks after his death to do so."
COME ON. wtf.
Maybe what they lose by not announcing the Galaxy Nexus before the 14th, they'll gain back by being able to announce the Nexus Prime at the same time. :3
It probably won't change the actual release date of either anyway, just when we get concrete details.
