hi i have a question about android. I figure this is probably the best place to ask. I'm in the tmobile network and have no plan of changing anytime soon. I've had an unlocked 3g for more than 2yrs now. I want to get the galaxy nexus however since it's verizon only I have the impression that it wont be able to support a sim card even if I unlock it? My other question is I was also looking at galaxy s2 version of sprint. Said to have the best battery is it gonna be the same problem as the verizon because if I recall sprint don't use sim card to. So unlocking it I wont be able to use it on the tmobile network? My last question is there no other way to unlock the galaxy s2 without buying some kinda code for it? Seems everything I find when it comes to unlocking gs2 is to buy a code. If I have to pay for it then id rather I just get the tmobile gs2 or would importing a nexus work? I figure they would release an unlocked version right?

It is a Verizon exclusive, at least right now. There's been no announcement as to when/if the other carriers will get it, far as I know, but since we do know there's a variant that'll run on AT&T and T-Mobile I expect one eventually.

I just ordered a Galaxy S II for $130 from T-Mobile's call center for my fiance, and I'm going to just hold out on my own upgrade till Jan/Feb or so to see if word pops regarding a Nexus variant on T-mobile, or at least some new ICS Q1 '12 phones. Hoping for some upped specs when the Nexus hits elsewhere if it stays a Verizon exclusive for longer than 1-2 months.

Since I have a variant of the t-mobile galaxy S2.... I must say its one awesome phone. Probably one of the best currently on the market if you don't have verizon.

I was tempted as hell to just get two of them, since I was offered two for $130/each, especially since ICS is supposed to hit the GS2 "early next year".

But I've been holding out since May anyway, and I was kinda miffed that T-Mobile didn't get a version with the Exynos in it, so I figure I can wait a little bit longer to see if the Nexus hits. Especially if it doesn't land till Jan/Feb, but does so with that other list of leaked specs we saw before the official announcement, which is kinda what I'm hoping for (although not really expecting).

Decided to buy a Galaxy S2, does anyone have any recommended accessories?

I got this case/bumper but was wondering if it's worth getting a screen protected/high cap battery and what ones to get.

I've seen some people saying that protectors can reduce the responsiveness of the screen and 90% of the batteries I see are no-branded >.> so should I get something like this battery as it's not too cheap but not that expensive either or try my luck with one of the £<5 1800mah ones from amazon

Any high end phone nowadays you should have no reason to need a screen protector. My Evo has been chilling out in a pocket with my car keys for over a year now and there's not a scratch on it.

As for batteries, unless its an OEM battery the rating on it is a lie, end of story. Simple physics are involved in that one, since battery technology has been at a roadblock for awhile now. The 1800 mah batteries they sold for the Evo compared to the 1500 OEM was the exact same battery life. The only way you'll get a bigger battery is by actually buying a bigger battery, complete with those ridiculous bulging back plates.

I realize I'm talking about a different phone here, but the same principles apply across all smartphones.

You also need to worry about batteries that cause the "boot loop" on the GS2.....

Some aftermarket batteries cause the phone to go into a endless booting loop when charging the phone

Anyone that was getting a galaxy nexus on day1 here? Might be getting it but would love to hear what any fellow BGers might have to say about it.

A lot of people here would say get it day one. I say wait if you're in no hurry. There's bound to be better(read: more powerful) phones announced soon - there always are.

Aren't there rumors of a 1.5/2.5ghz quad-core phone from Htc (edge/zeta respectively), as well as already announced 1.5ghz Snapdragon dual-core, Ville, running ICS?

My HTC Incredible installed a software update today, which seems to have started causing problems from what I've noticed. Apps load a lot slower (Pandora takes ~2min to start, up from 10sec) and I'm a little annoyed by not having internet on/off option while holding down the power button.

I'm sure there's a way to add a shortcut for the 3G thing, but the app bothers me a little. Is there any way to revert to a previous version without rooting my phone? It's on 2.3.4 now, unsure on what version beforehand. Bought it in December of '10, and it hasn't updated until today. I'll do some googling now in an attempt to help myself, but I figured I'd ask here before I began my search. Thanks in advance

Day 1 here. Actually considering importing the HSPA+ version from UK. Scumbag Google not releasing that one here.

Edit: Though I'm not exactly thrilled about paying 800+ for a 16GB version...

I'm mostly likely going to be switching to Sprint in December, does anyone have any input as to what a good solid phone would be from them? My current phone is 2 years old and doesn't even have a data plan, so I really have no clue as to what I should be looking for.

I really love the look of the screen on the HTC EVO 3D, but is there really a point to the 3D if I'm not going to be taking many pics? Would one of the other EVOs be a better idea? I like the iphone too, but I'm not sure I care for the main menu thingy.

ya, same for me. ever since i saw that video on youtube posted here a while ago (where the guy tried everything he could to scratch the screen) i've gone without the protector. still not one scratch.

Sprint has their own version of the SGSII called the Samsung epic 4G touch. And it also has that exynos(?) chip in it

I think krandor has an evo, and some one else on here picked up an evo 3D. The only problem I hear about HTC phones though is the shitty battery life. But you can somewhat fix that by tinkering around with it
