Why not get the Epic 4G?
That wont be out till "fall". ;/
idk, why should I? the evo looks big enough that i shouldnt really need a keyboard. I hate tiny keyboards anyway.
So I just called sprint today, and apparently, I CAN get my upgrade now, so the only problem now, is finding the evo in stock somewhere >_> do any sites show if it's available on their websites? about to start calling radio shacks or something
all radioshacks nearby soldout fuuuu
See I'm in this same predicament but I can't go out and find one to buy because I have to pay full price because I'm technically not eligible for an upgrade. Fucking 9 days before I'm eligible, over a month with no phone sucks dick. If you check websites, it's probably only going to show the online stock, if you call the store I'm sure you can find out. Try Bestbuy and walmart if sprint works different from verizon, and if all else fails check out wirefly.com
Epic 4g is most likely to come out on the 23rd of this month(if Engadget is to be believed). Not just a keyboard, better screen, better processing, its only.3 inches smaller than the Evo(screen size) the battery life is amazing(i average about 18 hours under moderate use on my Vibrant, 23 if i use it normally).
Different strokes for different folks though. The next wave of superphones will be out in a few months and none of this will really matter :/
Really? Well... fuck.
I don't know what to do anymore ; ;
I've always liked having a keyboard. It's just, the evo sounded really nice and big, so the keyboard on it would be ok I thought, and that swype thing sounded really good, too. idk :/
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu ck
Well its not like Swype is specific to certain phones... you can download it from the Marketplace for any Android device.
Edit: Speaking of which... Gonna add it to useful apps.
Again, personal preference is the deciding factor here.
At the moment, I'm set on the Epic.
The only problem is that I go back to school like, around the 20th/21st, so I'd like to get my new phone before I go back. No word on a release date yet makes me
I kind of really like the option of being able to choose between swype or keyboard, and I also like having the keyboard, ESPECIALLY for games. Like, yeah.
The only thing that I'm worried about that no one has any info on is the battery life.
edit: Here was the pro/con type list I came up with:
Epic:
Pros:
Epic name (lol)
Keyboard
Comes with a 16gb sd card instead of 8 (not really a huge deal)
Superior screen (AMOLED thing I've only really heard good things about)
Cons, or rather, EVO Pros?
No kickstand
4 inch screen instead of 4.3. Having never owned or touched either phones, I don't really know the impact
Might not be out before I go back to schoolbut it's not like I can get an evo right now anyway since it's freaking sold out everywhere
Samsung has a spotty record with cellphones, but people are saying since this Galaxy S lineup are being released for all carriers, AND across the world, they wont fuck up with supporting it? Also, I suppose it doesn't matter too much, as there's always the pirate community!
I keep hearing that the Sense UI is a lot superior to w/e the samsung one is called. Not an issue when you root and put a custom rom, I think?
Cameras on it seem to not be as good as the evo's?
No HDMI out but I don't think I care? If I'm somewhere where I could hdmi out stuff to my tv or monitor, I will be doing it with my computer, or in the worst case, with my laptop. Also heard that the Epic has some sort of wireless thing that displays the entire screen, rather than the app being specificly requiring hdmi out? whatever, don't really care
No fucking clue:
battery life :<
RELEASE DATE fuuuuuuuu :<
Never owned an Android before, so excited, I can't wait.![]()
Swype really is amazing for on-screen keyboards. Even with my huge(read, fat) fingers it's accuracy is nearly perfect.
Its a Galaxy S phone but since it carries a lot more tech than the rest of the Galaxy S phones I can see why you're worried about battery life. I just now received the power alert(30%) on my Vibrant and the last time I charged it was yesterday at 9 am. The Super AMOLED screen really makes the difference in terms of power consumption and display clarity.
I'm beginning to sound like a fanboy but this is probably the best phone T-Mobile will have until the HD line of HTC phones come out. Even then, its a tough contender.
EDIT: Here's the link for the Epic rumored release engadget
AMOLED is not that big of a deal. The contrast and color depth are improved (mostly blacks). Unless you're using a jet black wallpaper and most of the apps you use are principally black, you won't see any major difference in battery life.
The downside is that it's really bad in direct sunlight. The Super AMOLED displays used on the Galaxy S phones is better in sunlight, but LCD still performs much better.
Between several phones and this Vibrant I'm seeing a markedly huge increase in battery life. Previous phones I've owned/tested; G1, Iphone 3Gs, Droid, Blackberry Curve, a few Huwei models and an Xperia X10.
I will admit that the SAMOLED screen does tend to oversaturate(I hope I'm using that term correctly) colors like reds and blues and to a lesser extent, greens but its mostly noticeable on cartoons and such(I spent a few hours watching Adventure Time on the Vibrant on launch day).
i wanna buy the psx emulator, but i cant find a good ROM for ff7. could anyone help me out ; ;
lolff7
Even though the head of Samsung was quoted along the lines as saying that the brightness and clarity achieved via their screens is superior to the Iphone 4 because it does it with 30% energy efficiency? If its not the screen then Samsung has found a way to efficiently route energy to last more than a day's use. A method that's possibly better than anything out there now.
Here's the article
My Evo has lasted over 2 days without a charge (with just under 5 hours of the screen being on over that period, including watching a movie and some Gameboid). Granted this is with undervolting my CPU.
Spoiler: show
In the scheme of things the display is a pretty small part of the battery drain.
