Good lord. That insane result aside, this phone is so good.
Ya try Best Buy, thats where I got mine, first person to get it today![]()
Just watched a short 1080p video with some headphones on. Phenomenal playback, amazing screen quality, great sound chip too. Still haven't found a flaw with the phone.
Rooting and unlocking it was very easy as well. I'm going to calibrate the battery tonight.
You using Battery Calibrator? I haven't had any issues with battery life yet and I flashed MoDaCo R5.
Lemme know how the battery life compares before and after.
Surprised CM9 for Galaxy Nexus isn't even in Alpha yet... Like wtf lol.
It's discharging as of this post. I'll edit this tomorrow morning with what % it's at for reference
75% as of 1:16PM CST, that's 17 hours.
So I picked the nexus up on verizon this morning, and was wondering:
1: what the fuck ever caused the damn delay?
2: Can i put a custom ROM on the verizon version that has google wallet enabled? without fucking anything up?
3: fuck yeah got a Gnex
CM9 alpha not too far off either.
edit: Also, using the CM9 beta on my Fascinate... love it.
Would love the Nexus but can't shell out for it right now.
I got the Skyrocket a month ago and really like it. I've been reading up on xda about rooting the phone mainly to get rid of the ATT bloatware to extend the battery life of the phone. Since people here have rooted their phones, I had a couple questions. Other than removing bloatware and being able to run apps that require root access, what are the benefits of rooting and running a custom ROM? Will rooting mess up anything in terms of apps or other files I already have on the phone? For any other skyrocket users with custom ROMs, which do you recommend?
When installing custom ROMs, the best way to do it is always wipe data / cache so you would lose everything.
Rooting basically just gives you access to things you wouldn't have access to otherwise. So you can edit config files / delete system APK's (the bloatware) and run apps that require root permissions.
Rooting doesn't mess anything up in itself as its just permission modifications. What can mess things up is modifying files that are relied on.
Best guide for rooting the galaxy nexus? See a bunch on the google machine, but want to go with whatever you guys have used.
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot recovery image blahblahblah.img
Load superboot. Done.
Check XDA, theres a really simple guide for it but that is the gist of it.
I'm currently using MoDaCo (Paul O'Brien's) ROM which adds a search button and Facebook linking back into ICS.
Any GN users have any recommendations for a good dock/charger and car mount/charger?
