I'm having some trouble with my Skyrocket not recognizing mp3s tags.

Initially, about half of my MP3s were coming up as unknown artist. I double checked the tags using mp3tag on my desktop and, in the ones that the phone was having trouble recognizing, I tried retagging. After checking again on my phone, it still left about 200 mp3s as unknown artist. So, I grabbed audiotagger off of the marketplace and tried to tag the last mp3s that way, but it pretty much messed everything up. Artists were showing up correctly, but now artwork and albums were messed up. In some cases it shows two instances of the same album with the songs split up between them.

Is this a problem of the player that I'm using? I tried in both winamp and the stock player. Or, if it's a problem with how I'm creating the tags, what is the best way to go about doing this?

My Transformer Prime is arriving today. I hope it's not broken (been hearing much of that in xda unfortunately)... the specs are beast but Asus' QA control seems horrid...

I downloaded Titanium Backup but it says I need to be rooted before I backup my stuff. Won't it wipe all my data when I unlock and root? If so, how can you backup before wiping everything?

afaik rooting doesn't wipe your data unless you do some funky shit. root, backup, wipe (always recommended before flashing a rom), flash, profit.

i'd look up more for you but im at work

If someone can clarify this I would appreciate it. I have a samsung galaxy tab 7" with the stock rom currently, I would like to flash it to the Galaxy Cubed rom but I would like to backup all of my things first. Currently I am unrooted and there is no app-store program to root it as with some other devices.

As long as you setup up your google account to backup your contacts. Some browser apps also allow to backup up bookmarks to your sd card. Dolphin browser lets you sync your bookmarks between devices.

Wiping data doesn't touch anything on your memory card. Phone wise though, wiping gets rid of your texts. (I think there is an app to save them though) But if you are rooted and have clockwork mod recovery. Just make a backup before you flash any ROM. Titanium backup is a good app to have but you need to be rooted.

edit: rooting doesn't wipe data. Unless you did something wrong.

Happened to a friend of mine last week. He just let it sit in a bowl of rice for a day or 2 and it was fine.

Not really an android question but I don't think it deserves it's own thread. My friend is trying to tell me (per a T-Mobile sales associate in store) that if you buy a phone on contract they add a monthly fee to cover the rest of the phone's cost. For example, a $600 phone sells for $300 on contract then they add a $15 fee every month to cover the other $300.

I've never heard of this before and it really doesn't make sense. Is he crazy? Or am I the idiot who has never noticed this fee on my bill?

It does happen, but only as part of their "Value" plans.

    Just to clarify again,

ROOTING DOES NOTHING BUT IF YOU ADMIN RIGHTS TO YOUR PHONE, DOES NOT WIPE DATA OR ANYTHING

After that you're on your own

You can add the cost of the phone to the bill sorta, my friend did it when he got his first galaxy. Of course the phone is subsidized when you're on a normal contract, but sometimes they will let you bill the subsidized cost of the phone to your account I know he was allowed to break it up and his bill was temporarily higher. I know when I did it with sprint they added the whole cost

Rooting is the equivalent of Administrator rights in Windows.

However unlocking your bootloader wipes all data, which is required for rooting on most devices. So while what you're saying is technically true, it's misleading.

What devices requires the bootloader to be unlocked for root access?

Actually hes right. I'm pretty sure the Galaxy Nexus needed to have the bootloader unlocked before rooting was possible.
