Read as much info as you can about your phone on XDA. They tell you if you can go back to root, if the flash clock cna be reset(not that most care really) and so on. I no little about the HTC one and it is new so hit up the forums.
root = greatness.

Root it, something happens, then unroot it, yes they CLAIM to void your warranty but when you unroot it your warranty is in effect
The Evo will being shipping on Thursday. I am excite.
godddddddddd damnit i can't wait either
My sisters battery problems seem to be fixed.
Should I root her phone? I don't have an android phone but I've seen the videos. Any reasons not too? Longer battery life and getting rid of the 10minute graphic when you first turn the phone on would be great. Any other "musts" she may need? She is fine with the vanilla phone, but if there are bonuses that will benefit her than that's what I'm looking for.

Getting rid of carrier apps
Ya, I work at the AT&T device support center (warranty center), and rooting certain phone brands do void warranty. We see a bunch of idiots come inside the department with rooted devices and we can't do anything but void the warranty on it. Samsungs however are an exception, they advised us that the warranty on a rooted samsung android does not get voided. They just advise you that your phone MAY run like shit. lolol
Got a question about sFTP on android.
Anyone got a decent one for android? Astro came to mind but im running into a glich when transferring from it. Antek explorer is doing a decent job however moving 100+MB pdf files is taking so long, something around 10~20min. I should be maxing out the connection of my home network(that being 5~10MB/sec and I do pull that off my laptop) but the tablet cant seem to get anywhere close to that.
also as to root;
1)bloat gone
2)speed up the phone(thats a dual core right? theres apps to lock out cores/control CPU speeds)
3)adblock
4)move files to SD card that where not ment.
5)new kernel(help with battery life/ speed)
Hundred other reasons. Just be ready to spend some time on the phone if you change kernels and roms, one may not work great on your phone. Phones are like woman after all, each one reacts in their own way and will bitch to some stuff(sadly you may find out you cant under volt your phone or even change the kernel)
Setcpu and a few other things will always work though.
People who walk in with a rooted phone are stupid. You can go back to stock and lock up everything on any phone....
And is there a way we can merge this topic with the 30 page android one >.>? Whats the point of having two topics for one driving me nuts looking at both! I understand that this one was about battery life but its sorta turned into a "General android" topic.
Hard to tell battery life on my S2 since Sprint data connectivity has gone to shit the last month or to. Phone dies out fast if you aren't attentive to out side it's always trying to find a network to connect to.
Merged
GTA3 On sale for 1 dollar on the play store
Friend just got his Evo. Looks like a fun phone.
i just got mine today.
it is fucking balling. just got home so i am still playing with it. i'll provide some observations tomorrow
HTC phones are known for having unlocked bootloaders fairly fast( even if locked down) Any news on that yet? Iv been looking into the HTC onex for the summer. Cant make up my mind of the SGS3 or the Xone.
Yea someone already unlocked the bootloader and have root access
been playing with my phone all day. dunno how else to describe it, other than it's pretty god damn awesome.
i had the original evo and for those who've owned it, it was kinda sluggish and sense may or may not have been for you given its slowness. but with this phone's speed i've taken a better liking to all the things sense has to offer. the phone has virtually no lag at all, which is to be expected at this point for any new phone. but for someone who was using the original evo up from day one until yesterday i can't help but repeat it. the phone's intuitive, offers a great deal of customization, and i don't feel like the phone's gonna die after heavy usage. that said, 4g LTE networks are not yet up so we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
one thing that doesn't suit me exactly: the phone is pretty damn big. it's got a super nice feel with the metal lining, but because of the overall width and specifically because of the metal lining i keep thinking it'll slip out of my hands. i got a rubber lining case which pretty much alleviates that but it kinda sucks that i can't just go without the case. the metal makes it feel pretty high grade, as opposed to other phones that use plastic.
kickstand's kinda w/e to me. fun to play with when i'm bored, i'm sure it'll offer utility once in the blue moon that i need it, i'm more annoyed that it's not as easy to grab hold of and snap out the way the old evo did. pretty much gotta dig it out.
the recent apps button is super cool. i used to own a palm pre and this button pretty much offers the same functionality as the pre did with the cards. great way to cycle through all the things you had up from before.
for those who make heavy use of the camera, it's pretty badass. love the rapid fire snapshot feature. it has the dedicated camera button on the side so you can just bring it up whenever and go from there. it's weird that the button is pretty nice with a good feel and click but the power button/rockers are much thinner. for that matter, the power button i can deal with, but the rockers i don't like at all.
awesome phone and very, very happy with it. also kinda helps that i traded in my original evo with an additional 100 bucks in promos so it only cost me 50 bucks (before activation fees).
