Interesting. My ATT contract with my iphone is up on the 17th. I was looking to move to verizon and wasn't sure if I should wait for another iphone or get the best droid on the market. I can wait a couple months if needed, just don't know what to wait for other than iphone.

    I would say so

Evo is basically the One X, and I've seen a video of a One X being used as a hammer and worked perfect, I saw a SG3 drop test and it failed horribly

The evo is a slightly better one x from what I've read in most reviews, but it's really preference

    Evo v.s. gs3 depends.

Battery life goes to gs3 in tests.
Camera and video Is also gs3(it uses the iPhones sensor)
UI I'd go with evolution(people say touchwiz has come far but idk... lol)
Screen goes to evo(some claim you can't tell because of the size)
Benchmark is gs3(based off quad core! We don't have tests for the USA dual core people claim performance might be better with dual core idk that sounds like BS)

Overall I think you can't go wrong with one or the other, I myself plan to hit up the gs3, I think it looks better and I have had bad luck with HTC devices. My evo 4g sucked averaged 53kbps speeds, thunderbolt as most no had zero backing, and was it not for the community the device would of been a disaster.

I don't understand how the gs3 could really fail in a drop test to be honest, it has gorilla glass version 2. It should be up there with the best.

so what is it that gives it that power then? GG2 is the best screen from what everyone says?

Also to be fair every drop is not equal. My Thunderbolt took a dive from over 7 feet(face down) and no break. however a small drop out of my car no higher then 3 feet ended it leaving me to replace the screen. Not that it matters to me as I can replace screens easy(Tho there may be a risk of that not being true on the GS3 that might be something major to think about)

I really need to read more into this HTC one x tho, that seems nuts.

Yes and no actually. Benchmarks will show the quad core beating the crap out of the S4, but that's because the benchmark programs have all been written to take full advantage of the multi-threading. Simple fact is most apps have NOT been written for multi-threading. And in single-threading, the S4 will beat the Quadcore. So in many many apps, you will actually notice better performance on the S4. But we are talking minor differences, most of which will never be noticeable by a person.

This is what I was reading. The quad core was based off old tech, the S4 seems to use a more modern chip set(something per inc idk... lol)

Technically speaking, the Exynos is more old tech. It's basically last years components doubled up with the same GPU as last year running at a higher speed, all built on a smaller, more efficient process. The S4 uses the more modern A15 based instruction set compared to the A9 in the Exynos, and is build using the even more efficient 28 nm process. The GPU is what's holding it back a bit being still largely based on the old Adreno 220 but ramped up quite a bit with huge gains in speed thanks to the much improved memory throughput.

What everyone REALLY wanted was either the Exynos 5250 dual core (also based on A15 with the newer Mali 604 gpu, compared to the Mali 400) or the S4 Pro which incorporates the new Adreno 320. Seems like both of these SoCs aren't in the cards for any devices until Christmas rolls around or maybe even into next year.

Going back down to earth, my GS2 runs everything you throw at it without any problems, granted, it runs at a lower resolution, but the chips that both versions of the GS3 get are more than capable of running at 720p. For the most part, as long as the UI is fast and stutter free, I don't see any apps or games causing problems. It will take a while before software developers will catch up to the new processors and will really start to challenge them.

My droid bionic got a little wet 2 days ago and now the touchscreen does not respond at all in a few areas.

Any troubleshooting suggestions? I was planning on putting it under a blow dryer for 10 minutes or so but I wanted to ask first.

edit: The LED light turned blue when the phone got a little wet originally. Now it appears every once in a while.

rule one of a wet phone(or any item with a battery for that matter)

    pull the battery, let dry for 2 days. the insides only fry when it has power. You darn well could drop your laptop into a pool if you took the battery out and let it dry before putting it back^^;

Rule 2: Dont use a blow dryer. That can do harm to the inside(if you must you can do so with the cool setting ONLY) but that is even frowned upon. and dont put it close to the screen(iv taken apart a tone of phones using my moms blow dryer lol its how I take the screen apart from the glass)

Ok thanks. I'm worried because everything is working as normal except for the touchscreen. Still no idea what the blue LED light means, as it did that again for a few minutes before I turned it off to put it in rice.

What are your suggestions for phone makes if my warranty doesn't cover a replacement?

they can detect water damage on certain things, depends on how wet and were it got wet, but looks like you might be fucked since it when into the screen and started fucking with it, i'd say sell for parts if you can and get a new phone. But that's just me
