Plus the fugly touchwiz crap. They really need to put stock android on more phones. Call the iPhone 4 whatever you want, but it's the sexiest phone I've ever laid eyes on.

Yeah but unfortunately every manufacturer wants to make their phone ui unique. Thank god for Cyanogen and AOSP.

Upgraded yesterday ;3 so far so spiffy ~The screen protector TMobile sells fails hard core ~ The 'fake' one that came with the phone was so much better~
It has a lot of apps that constantly keep running even after I force them to close ~ Probably leads to terrible battery life ~ Will has to fix this

Only matters if they're eating CPU cycles, if they just sit idle it's not worth caring about. Use System Panel or the Running services option under settings to see what's really picking away at your battery. If they just open in the background then do absolutely nothing then you don't need to worry about it

I picked up T-Mobile's Galaxy-S (Vibrant) for a two week test drive. It only took me about 15 seconds to root the phone. I just had to flash an update.zip file. The file and directions are here:

I really hate the bar at the top of the screen (just below the status bar) that tells you what home screen you are one (1 of 7, 2 of 7, ect.) I want it GONE.
It is eating up precious screen real estate.
The phone is very quick and the screen is beautiful. So colorful and bright. I honestly don't mind how it looks now, but it is a finger print magnet. If I choose to keep the phone I'll need to invest in a sleeve or something. I haven't removed the screen protector it came with yet because its actually pretty good, lmao.
Edit:
The ADWLauncher app removed the screen bar I mentioned that I didn't like. It actually got rid of Samsung's custom UI altogether and replaced it with something much nicer and cleaner.

Oh, and for other Galaxy-S users, here is the easy fix for the GPS (which is busted currently due to settings):

gonna save some hot babes and punch radiation in the mouth.
I've had the phone for over a week now. Battery is lasting on average about 10-15 hours on full brightness with gps turned on and moderate use(Ive played Radiant, watched movies on it, web use).
I want to root the phone but don't want to lose any functionality(i.e., does the market place work while rooted? wifi? camera interface? etc.). Touchwiz is hella fugly.

Assuming you're running off a good ROM everything will work better then stock. I'm running my Evo on a WIP Froyo ROM atm, so some functionality is missing, but the ROM I was running before had a better UI (because Sense is gay), ran faster, had better battery life, free tethering, and wasn't missing a single shred of functionality from stock.

You can root it and use the same ROM that it came with. You however cannot change the ROM without rooting. I rooted it and haven't changed the ROM yet and everything works great. "Rooting" just means the OS has given you superuser permissions, so that is all that changes is you have admin power.

So by rooting I can remove bloatware?
