Hello, I just got in my new motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128419), processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103873, And memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227558).
I have a ATI Radeon 5670 1GB GDDR5 graphics card.
I installed everything according to the manual. There is a space for a 8 pin 12v connector, but my power supply only came with a 4 pin connector. I went ahead and plugged in the 4 pin connector to the correct spot where the instructions specified. The 8 pin is reccomended for high wattage processors, but mine is only 65W, so I don't think its required.
I plugged the power supply in, my mouse and keyboard and monitor in the back, and turned the computer on. Everything starts up well, the fans and the lights and everything come on, but I hear one long beep and the monitor goes back to sleep with a "no signal".
I read the troubleshooting part of the manual and saw that one long continuous beep indicated that the graphics card has failed, so i went and switched it out with a backup I have. Well needless to say it still gave me the long beep. I also swapped the memory places, took one out, took both out and still that same long beep.
After that I took the RAM, video card, and all HDDs besides the one with windows installed out, but still long beep! Right now the Gigabyte website seems down... On the compatibility list, my processor isn't listed but it came out just this month so I didn't expect any lists to be updated. The processor right under the new one (the Athlon II x2 255 3.1GHz) is basically the exact same thing to the 260. So I don't see why that would be the issue.
Also, there is no "beep" error code for the processor in the manual, all it has under one long beep is the graphics card error.
I'm sorry to bother y'all with this, it's my first time switching this type of things out. Ive done video cards, HDDs, etc, but never the heart of the machine. I guess I can't always expect things to go smoothly! My friend suggested that I leave the computer on for 5 minutes to see if it doesn't catch on, but I don't know if that's a good idea. The Processor's heat sink does get hot to the touch, so it's getting power. So I would really appricaite some advice... Thanks.
