    Is mouse/keyboard possible on console?

I honestly prefer mouse/keyboard setup for all types of games besides driving. I really don't care about motion control even though that is the big thing this year according to E3(every game on ps3 using motion control is a pain and every ipod/phone/pad game that makes me tilt the stupid thing is god awful... wii tennis is fun though).

I know the SNES could handle a mouse with mariopaint, and that the ps2 could handle a keyboard on ffxi.

I would think that the console that introduced mouse/keyboard to shooters and all other genres would snag a market share greater than another motion capture gimick. Is it possible or do current consoles lack the ability for the mouse/keyboard setup???

It's not that they lack the ability. All the Dev has to do is allow it really, or add support. Honestly if people want keyboard/mouse, they stick to PC

Devs can't be arsed to code two interfaces for the control method of choice. I'd hate to mouse/keyboard some of those game menus and shit outside of the fps genre.

A lot of games get ported to pc anyways, especially fps as long as its not a console exclusive(and then sometimes anyways ex. halo).

I own a ps3 now, I have used an xbox in the past an I think VERY little of it. However, if xbox announced it supported mouse/keyboard, I would buy one on the spot.

Where do you shop for vid cards at? You can get a video card capable of playing Crysis for $150, which is more than enough for any game on the market unless you just have to run your games at 1920x1200 with 4x MSAA for some reason.

Having recently upgraded with such a priced vid card, I understand your argument. However, Crysis is over 2 yrs old. Meanwhile, screen resolution(HD) standards have increased along with avg screen size(32" monitor is JUST above avg).

Meanwhile, consoles that have been out for 5 yrs(xbox) can handle any screen size and never require upgrades to play the newest releases...

    I'm not trying to argue with this post, I honestly want to see mouse/keyboard on consoles and really want to know if its possible; ;

It's possible, and has been done on the PS3 (Unreal Tournament 3), and LBP2 supposedly supports it for faster level editing. But otherwise, good luck with finding games that do support it as there's not much demand for it.

And consoles still render shit resolutions (rarely do the AAA games render native 720p), it's all about the upscaling. If you have to play a game at full-HD quality, then of course you'll be spending more on a PC capable of doing it than a console that cannot.

I know some people use XIM to use m/kb on xbox. Not sure exactly what it is, but it sounds like they modify a controller to accept the mouse inputs and relay them to the xbox. So it's not plug-n-play, but it's something. Dunno if it works for PS3

That sounds like a recipe for input lag.

Would still probably be more precise than trying to precision aim with analog sticks. >.>

lol i posted the info in the wrong thread, dude up there posted it but imma repost it anyway

    Your wish has been granted.
Penguin United's Eagle Eye brings WASD to your PS3 shooters, disrespect to your enemies (video)

With the PS3's plethora of USB ports scattered across the front, you'd think it'd be a no-brainer that all shooters on the console would support keyboard and mouse controls to make the FPS purists happy. Sadly that's not nearly the case, so it's up to companies like Penguin United (creators of a fine array of silly Wii peripherals) to fill the void. The Eagle Eye is its attempt, a surprisingly sizable box with an unfortunately short 2-foot USB cable and inputs for mouse and keyboard. Using buttons on that box you assign controller inputs to keys and away you go, hunting the Helgath's worst in WASD. The cost is a bit steep at $60 when it ships later this month, but nobody said having a (possibly imaginary) unfair advantage over the competition would be cheap.

I'm guessin you should be more than likely able to use it with any game...

All depends on the game's acceleration and dampening of input from analog sticks though.

I would expect Killzone 2 to feel heavy (vid didn't show the mouse while moving around which was fail) because it was programmed so, unless the Eagle Eye had options to crank the sensitivity input read internally above and beyond than what the game allows you.

And then you get crap like LittleBigPlanet where any cursor-like device has a slow acceleration and momentum, meaning multiple strokes required from the mouse anyway. So it'll be trial-and-error to see what games this would be worth bothering with, which for the most part looks strictly like FPS titles.

Showing it off with Killzone 2 is retarded because the game supported Mouse and Keyboard out of the box.
